  1. veritas is a good rod but there are alot better rods for the same price
  2. my good friend lost his best rod combo ( GLX and shimano reel) in the potholes reservior, basically the deepest part of the lake while we were making a run to a different spot, that was a big loss, hes still ticked on that one, idk how it fell out we got to our spot and it was gone
  3. perfect line for cranking, small diamater but strong.. also good for topwater
  4. this year, i continuously fished 2 rigs until i felt very confident in them. its was 90% of what ive used so far this year, and ive learned a ton about them. i used both the drop shot, and carolina rig. so i say just stick with one rig for a while till you feel confident with it, then move to the next, thats the best way to build an arsenol of techniques and truly become better
  5. check ebay also, i picked up a brand new Champ extreme 703C for only $207 plus $10 shipping. thats a crazy deal, over $100 off retail.. you just got to keep your eye out
  6. also, after mentioning the ***, it does have recoil guides adn if you plan on using braid, its super annoying, a very loud sawing sound. the only downside to recoil guides
  7. when you casted it and it it made that bad noise and didnt cast, did the reel get re-ingaged or was it still free spool?
  8. no you only get 1 time, but you can use that 1 time when ever you want, ex: the day after you buy it or 5 yrs later it dosnt matter
  9. are you looking at the champ or champ extreme? if your looking at the champ, i would suggest the 13 ***, i have all three, and the champ extreme & 13 *** feel VERY similar. the 7'3MH *** is VERY VERY similar to the dobyns champ extreme 744. i have a champ extreme DX745 with a lew TP and its light, but my 13 *** 7'3MH with a lews TP is even lighter. i really think you'll like the *** over the champion, but there both good rods, but i truly feel the 13 *** is better than the dobyns champion.
  10. swimbaits = big fish. i constantly fish a lake and catch solid 3.5-4.5 lb bass on jigs, senkos etc.. but my swimbait finatic friend goes to the same lake and can pull a 7.9 and 6.4 the same day on a swimbait. Hudd 68 wacks em' i need to purchase a swimbait rod and a swimbait and start throwing it, im tired of seeing BIG fish being caught on swimbaits and not being in on it lol
  11. Yes it is an amazing little reel! I was launching a 3/8 top water the other day. Smooth to, buy not as smooth as my TP
  12. here is what i found http://www.basspro.com/Ugly-Stik-GX2-Ladies-Casting-Rods/product/1304300951413/
  13. instaid of getting 2 of the same rods *** and falcon bucco 7' MH, i would get a 7'3 MH 13 ***, it is a lot lighter, more sensitive, and overall a better rod. paired with the lews touranment pro, its super light combo. And very versitle, i can flip 1/4oz jigs up to dragging 1oz football heads in 30 feet of water. its has a excellent tip but is strong as heck once you set the hook. but eather way you can go wrong. but personally id go with 1 *** over 1 *** and 1 falcon
  14. i use a small velcro strip for my carolina rigs, its about .5" wide and 1.5" long, i put the velcro strip around my sinker and rod and secure it. the velcro keeps the carolina rig weight from banging up against the rod blank when doing 60mph across the lake or driving, works well!
  15. i HATE the ez braid, only stuff i like from spiderwre is there stealth moss green, thats the only braid i use and love it
  16. dang under 6oz, im going to have to pick one up! EDIT: i looked up the producer LTE and its 5.7oz and only $99.99 !
  17. what are you looking for? i could spend $400 400 different ways lol pick up a casting and spinning rod both around $100 each (*** are good) and a lews speed spool ($99, you can find a lot cheaper though) and a Pfleuger president spinning reel ($59) 8lb yo-zuri hybrid ($12) and 12lb yo-zuri hybrid ($12), that leaves you about $15 for some tackle....
  18. you seem pretty set on what you want, i say go for it, maybe have an extra fo your favorite setup incase something happens, but id sell what you dont use!
  19. Im sure he's hurting pretty bad lol and cool, thats just what i wanted to hear
  20. just picked up a champ extreme 703C for a steal at $219 brand new! rockchalk, how do you like yours 733?, and is good enough for some light t-rigs?
  21. go for the M, i have a 7'3 M *** black for sale, its in great condition and i used it exactly for what youre wanting to use it for, worked excellent, PM if you want to take a look at it. ill give you a good deal. and you are talking casting rod right?
  22. Dobyns Champion 702 is the finest Dropshot rod i've ever used. the tip is super soft and allows you to make a rocket cast, then really twitch the bait w/o moving the weight, but when it comes to setting the hook, that soft tip ends fast, and there is quite a bit of power in the blank, this rod has had no problem handling 4lb smallmouth in 25ft of water, and if you know smallmouth, you know they fight like a SOB. i run it with either 6lb Fluoro, or 15lb braid with 8lb fluoro leader in heavier cover, both line choices are very sensitive. also, the aesthetics on this rod are very appealing, comfortable cork and handle, excellent guides, lightweight & very balanced. its one heck of a rod, i cant imagine what the could improve on to make the rod in a DX version...
  23. dang, i was looking forward to this reel
  24. This is how my braid to fluoro setups are. No problems. I use Alberto knot, wet it before sinching down. Never had it break or come loose. Also, an new good braided line meant for finesse is from Sunline. It's called Sunline SX1 braided line hi-vis yellow. $19.99 and comes in 12 or 16lb. I use 12lb for my DropShot rod and 16lb for my tube, wacky rig, fluke rod. Good strong line and really flys off the spool
