  1. could have just been a faulty model. i have that same exact one with no problems what so ever... when stuff is mass produced, its can be easy for some models to slip past inspection... how is the new one?
  2. not sure on price yet, but i will be using it for shakey head, tubes thats about it. mostly 1/4 oz shakey head with a tube on it. stuff like that
  3. anyone have one? they look like a nice rod, might have to try one out, im looking for a new spinning rod here shortly let me know if you have one, how you like it Thanks, David
  4. P.S. they dont have the best selection of stuff, but they do have some good stuff
  5. tackle center .com is having a memorial day sale,i just added a cuarado to my cart, and the discount code is "memorial20" so you get 20% off. it works for everything they have on there website i believe, i know it works on shimano reels as i just tried.
  6. i also have the MED/HVY 7'3 excellent rod. i let my friend tyler use it ( keep in mind he owns a few champ extremes & 1 GLX) and said the snsitivity was just as good as his rods, which cost quite a bit more. he said overall its an excellent rod, just as light, sensitive, and balanced as his. he did like the handle, i do also. the recoil guides are good. I think at ICAST this year, they are introducing a gen.2 of these rods, which feature there own "custom guides" like on the *** series but obviously better.. i plan on getting another casting an spinning rod. its an excellent rod, that should be priced 2x more than what it is.
  7. what type of line are you using? if its fluoro, are you wetting it before clinching down?
  8. i have the 7'1 M ***, WAY better than the gl2's i had, id say its comparable to the IMX series of rods. but just like all the other reviews have said, there very well balanced and have real good sensitivity for a $100 rod. you can go wrong with a M or ML, but if you want it it lighter power than you M, go with a ML.
  9. keep both rods, youll thank me down the road when you dont have to tie on a new lure every time... and save up your money for a good spnning rod. you can have a nice combo for $150
  10. brass puts off a lot more noise than other metals, isnt that why they use it in the music indusrty? correct me if im wrong lol that was just a though
  11. i like it becasue you have to work to get what you want, its not like any other fishing, to find & catch bass you gotta locat them by using a topo map, depth finder etc.. then pick the right bait, then work that bait, then theres the awesome fight they put up. nothing else like it to me!
  12. perfect rod, reel will work also. i use 6-8lb fluorocarbon make sure to stick the line through the point side of the hook eye first, tie palamor knot and make sure to leave lots of tag end, stick the tag end back through the hook eye this point side first again ( this is what keeps the hook sticking out) then i like to use a 3/16 weight most of the time. anywhere from 8-20 inches from the hook some good baits are small 4-5 finesse worms, small minnow type baits.. i like roboworms, zoom finesse worms, power team finiky tickler, are just a few
  13. if its braid, which im assuming it is, then you be fine
  14. i would send an email to them saying it broke while setting the hook, if they say send it back for a replacement, then just cut the bottom part, from bottom grip to where it says veritas, that way they can see what model it is and get you a new one, and im sure they would send you a MH if you asked
  15. HA! i never thought of that, genius idea! thanks for the tip!
  16. pull off some line, about 3 yards or soo, then pull, the one that strech's more is mono
  17. I use a 7'2 heavy and have no problems so i dont see why a 7'3 would have any
  18. P line fluoroclear is my favorite, it handles well, spinning gear it can get some bad memory though. Then next i like p line cxx.
  19. Fish docks, and back of coves looking for spawning beds if they are starting to spawn, if not, im sure there in pre spawn and look for the first deep drop.offs or related areas to those spawning flats
  20. Using finesse worms on a dropshot, ive had trout & perch take it, and also had a trout take a wacky rig senko
  21. I have all fluoro setups, but this is how i do it. I first fill my spool with backing, which is normally 12lb big game mono. Then tie on a heavy jig and make the farthest cast you can in you backyard. Pull out another 10yards or so. Then cut the line, tie on your fluoro with a alberto knot to the mono backing, fill the spool the rest of the way. You can get 3-4 uses out of a 200yd spool of fluoro this way depending on how far you can cast... saves a lot of money and still works great and is like having a full spool of fluorocarbon
  22. Ill look for flats or points that relate to deep water fast. Also i look for offshore humps, mainly between 18-25 feet. Thats the smallies perferable depth around my area. If i can find a point or flat with good structure thats in 18-25ft water, then drops 10-15ft real fast, thats where i will fish. So look for points underwater that are sorrounded by deep water
  23. yes i have, it performs very well. i have it paired with 15lb red label and can cast a senko pretty far, and absoutly bomb a 3-8oz jig. lots of adjustments, strong drag, its real comfortable after a days of fishing with it.and the flipping switch is nice too. overall id give it a 10/10. its a darn good reel for the price
  24. i would recommed fluorocarbon for all those setups jig/spinnerbait/buzzbait use 17 or 20lb if flippin or pitchin or 12-14lb if in open water dropshot 6-8lb crankbait i use 12-14lb
  25. smallmouth are different than largmouth, smallmouth perfer rocks and sandy flats they will also be all over docks try finding a point that has structure on it with rocks or sand bottom, if you can find the transition line from sand to rock fish it, smallies will be on that, if your fishing deep water, use a carolina rig or a football head rig with a hula grub, beaver, or lizard
