  2. ill be at potholes this weekend!
  3. Weight depends on how deep your fishing, and wind. Normal day for me, I'll be dragging a c rig in 18-30 ft of water, with a bit of wind, I'll use usually 1/2 oz, sometimes 3/4 cause I want to feel the bottom and what I'm dragging over.. Good thing about the Carolina rig is it don't matter really how heavy of a weight u use because the least isn't attached to it so the finsh won't really feel the weight.
  4. good review, I've been keeping my eye on one..
  5. Any locals with some lake knowledge of either of these lakes, I'll be coming over for a week from Washington. Any good summer patterns to follow? Feel free to message me, thanks!
  6. Yup action rods, but cork handles, and I guess a touch of red or purple mixed into the black paint, so way you get a little bit of color in the sun. Looks good!
  7. hey man i live in wa as well, down south a bit more. but Fishing is really staring to heat up here, depeding on lake, its mid spawn or psot spawn. if your fishing for green, senko, or black blue jig. Smallies, dropshot robo worms or drag a yamamoto hula grub on rock points. try to find a boat if possible, fishing from boat is worth it!
  8. you'll be happy for the next few years and longer, those are great reels! have a few myself.
  9. i use a 7'4 Mag heavy Dobyns extreme 745 which has a fast tip for deep wage smallmouth fishing, works great
  10. how did it end up? next tourney there is in a few weeks correct?
  11. no its solid and dosnt move at all
  12. ohh didnt know that the one you were talking about... but no, ive had the rod for over 2 years and no scratches, scuffs, marks, anything
  13. look at the pics on this link. its an okuma rod, which i own, they have removable plastic/rubber hook keepers. im sure you could contact okuma customer service and order a few. these work great http://www.***.com/Okuma_Concept_C3-40x_Casting_Rods/descpage-0CC.html
  14. i fish a drop shot 90% of the time i spend fishing. i use 15lb braid to a 6lb fluoro leader, or 6lb fluoro. depending on what rod im fishing. i use 6lb Seaugar red label, have not had line break yet. i use a palamor knot, and then stick the tag end back through the eye of the hook. when you are tieing your knot, its up against the hook right? not up high then sliding it down as its tight? ive seen some people do it that way and that just destroys your line. with a dropshot, you dont need to set the hook hard at all, the hooks are so small, the penetrate the basses mouth very easily. i use either the vmc spinshot hooks, or the vmc sureset dropshot hooks. what brand line are you using? the red label i use is pretty tough stuff, the part between the weight and hook is so abraized its not even funny lol i never change it though cause it just dont break. ive had the same hook on now for the past 5 fishing trips with out re-tying. i just feel the line from the hook up and if it feels smooth, i cast it back out.
  15. i have champ extreme 703C for senkos, small t rigs, currently it has a 3/8 oz white spinerbait on it, it fishes it great. great rod. i also have a 682SF ive only dropshotted with it, it excels greatly at that, a shakey head depending on how its rigged might be too much, might want to bump up to a 3 power for that.

just filled it out, hope it helps you!
  17. i use my dx745 for deep water fishing most of the time, wither im dragging a 3/4oz football head, or a carolina rig, i like a stiffer rod to be able to get a good hookset when my bait is a LONG ways away from me... illalso use it for the occasional jig, but jigs i mostly use my 704, which is labeled as a heavy, but is simular to other manafactures MH
  18. Not sure about the rods, but the reels are really good for the price
  19. Has anyone tried calling tw to see if they will match bass tackle depot sale price?
  20. Well I've almost destroyed my bow mount several times lol trying to unsnag a d**n Texas rig Senko lol I think we tend to forget the price of items we use to catch fish, the boat, trolling motor, rods(flipping fish in, banging around) etc... In order to get back our baits
  21. Looks kinda like a frog so I would try fishing it like a frog
  22. Nice fish, I'm guessing right around 8lb, give or take a few ounces
  23. What price are you paying for the Powell? Dm me if you want
  24. And if your not set on the Powell, I can recommend a Dobyns 702 or 682
