  1. They have the same handle as the Dobyns I fish, and I love that handle/reel seat. It fits perfectly In your hand, and there is a nice blank spot for your finger to rest against the rod blank for even more sensitivity. Really comfortable. You will like it!
  2. Yeah I got mine super fast to! I ordered the 704c and it got to my place in 3 days, straight from Dobyns warehouse
  3. Hey guys, received my new 682SF spinning rod and now have had a few days fishing with it. WOW! what a spectacular rod. I have the 702SF and have said I believe that is the finest DropShot rod, well this rod is too. Both have their uses. (Keep in mind both rods have same specs, besides length) I like the 702 when fishing a DropShot in deep water. The the 682 allows me to make very accurate casts to docks, under overhangs, and isolated cover. 682 is the lightest rod I own, it really feels like a feather. And the action is perfect, once again like the 702, a soft tip that has a surprising amount of backbone. On the DropShot, I didn't even have to set the hook, just lift the rod up and hook sets it's self. If your looking for a spectacular rod, try out the Dobyns Champion Series 682SF. I ordered mine from Ron at Valley Sports, I have yet to find this model in stores or online, Ron ordered it through Dobyns Themselves. Now that's customer service!!
  4. i used my *** 7'3 M for squarebills, rattle traps, topwaters, and cranks that went down about 12ft. worked great, and didnt loose a fish on it. try it out!
  5. i would go 723. you'll love it, has a nice tip so you can fling those baits way out there
  6. U should be able to get in store credit no matter what, as long is the reel is in new condition. Just explain to them your condition, I swear, BPS and Cabelas have the best return program out there
  7. good to see, should see a few more active fish up shallow with this little warm front we have, supposed to be almost 70 today and 65 tomorrow. hoping to get out on sawyer or meridian today or tomorrow
  8. i just do straight braid cause i never break it off, and when i need to, i just tie on a new leader
  9. hey call ron at valley sports (360) 757-8171. see what he can get you one for. i have a DX745 and love it, but keep in mind, the champion series are also very good rods. i have 3 champions and 2 champion extremes
  10. 723 or 714. 714 if you like a bit stiffer rod
  11. your gonna want to throw a drop shot on those rock piles, with a small finesse worm, you wack em all day long. braid is my perfered choice of line on spinning reels. you can go 12-15lb braid (4-6lb mono DIA) and then tie on a small section of Fluorocarbon leader onto it with an alberto knot. ive had good luck with Sunline SX1, and regular power pro, also power pro slick is great. whats so good with braid on a drop shot setup, is the hooks are so small, all you have to do is lift your rod up, and because of the zero stretch in braid, the hook sets its self. i like a 7' M or Ml power spinning rod, my rod of choice is a dobyns 682 and 702. for reels, i use a 20 size Pfleuger President, it WAY outperforms its price. hope that will help you some, and if you have any more questions, dont be afraid to ask, becuase 90% of the fishing i do is for offshore smallmouth
  12. thats what i thought, then i heard someone mention one in mid april? so thats what i was wondering
  13. Hey, Does anyone know when TW is having there next sale? im going to be purchasing a few rods and reels so i would like to do it during a sale if possible thanks!
  14. In the top cove, I would start by throwing a crank that can reach 10-12ft to try and get a reaction bite from active fish, there will always be a few of them... Stand on the north side, right where your red line starts, and cast in between the 14-15 mark. Also, spinnerbaits will work as a good reaction bite. Next is picking apart the cover and isolated cover if you can see any.

    My 10/22 rifle modifications
  17. you might wanna take it off, i heard if any moisture get in-between the plastic and cork, the cork can't dry out so it basically rots and becomes very brittle. never experienced it but I've heard of it happening a few times
  18. Did you try putting each reel on each rod and see which combo balances better? you can go that route. also, take into consideration, that you'll likely be palming the reel on the 744 more because of pitching and flipping docks, lay downs etc.. so you might want the smaller reel of the 2 on the 744. just a few things to take into consideration.
  19. 8lb line might be a bit small for a BC reel. i would bump up to 10-12lb fluorocarbon. the line is almost invisible underwater
  20. i use a dobyns 745 its a 7'4" 5 power rod. fast tip and 1/4-1-1/2 oz raiting. im normally using a 3/4oz weight. this rods handles it like a dream. although its expensive i do recommend it. also, a 735 would make a great rod, and about $100 cheeper
  21. 704 or 734 is what your lookin for
  22. yeah, wow i totally misread that, i though he said the total weight will be 1/8-1/32oz. But yes a MF rod will work excellent
  23. for that light of a bait, i would throw it on a ML or L spinning rod, probably an expensive one so i can feel the bottom better
  24. Pfleuger president is a great reel. I have several $250 rods, the reels that i have on them? $59.99 Pfleuger Presidents. there great reels an i REALLY recommend one!
