  1. ya, i have a few rods that are rated 3/8-1oz, i can fling out a t rigged craw or worm with a 3/16oz bullet weight , heck even a weightless fluke or senko pretty far, its all about your reel. with the lighter baits, dont whip your bait out there, let more line out, like 18-24 inchs, and do a big single handed side arm cast, itll keep from backlashing and get the most distance out of your lure. you like the versitality of that Mh alot better than the M
  2. Ya i used mine for a little, it just seemed dead to me, like no sensitivity compared to my other rods, i think imma take it back and get my money back and save for a better rod.
  3. You gonna put up some pics still? I might be interested in some stuff
  4. Lol it gets the best of us! Im perfectly fine with the 9 rod combos i have right now, but i always find myself saying, i could really use another 7'MH for that one rig... lets just put it this way, probably 70% of my money goes towards fishing..lol
  5. Depending on what you like, you can run braid, 30lb is good. And tie your topwaters straight onto the braid. Then when you start fishing jigs or plastics, either keep the braid or tie on a fluoro leader with a quick alberto knot. Thats what i do and it works perfect..
  6. Well if you want to cover every technique from a-z, 4 rods will do. But obvisouly, the more rods you have, the easier it is cause you dont have to retie as much... But the 4 rods i would say are: 1. 7' Medium, fast tip spinning rod to cover all your finesse techniques such as dropshot, shakey head, wacky worm, finesse worms, small finesse jigs, tubes, 2. 7'-7'6 MH Mod-fast tip for all your cranking and smaller topwater baits. 3. 7'-7'4 MH fast or xf tip. Good for all jigs, t rigs, c rigs, flukes, senkos, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, chatterbaits, small swimbaits topwaters, spoons, big tubes, 4. 7'11 heavy fast tip with heavy braid for punching mats and pads with a heavy weight. Also can be used for topwater frogs and alabama rigs.
  7. What site did you use to find them? If tried fishidy.com it works pretty good. Just wondering if there are others?
  8. Sometimes with a heavy bait like that, i like to throw it like i throw a weightless bait. Alot of line out, almost 2ft or more, and instaid of whipping the rod with 2 hands, just do a nice steady 1 arm lob, if that makes since.
  9. YA i get exactly what you're saying, perfect. thanks for the review/ answering my question. Next step, buying a reel!
  10. Awesome, i was just wondering how it was with lightweight baits such as flukes and senkos, can it fling them out there pretty far, as thats what im looking for in a new reel. Thanks,David
  11. thanks for all the reviews/ suggestions guys! i think im gonna go with the 723
  12. does anyone have one? seems real nice for the price. i havnt seen any reviews on them, but it looks good and i need a reel.
  13. Just got home with mine, 7'medium. They are the gen1 but it feels light & looks good. I didnt see a reason for me to try and get the gen 2. Now to go fish it
  14. ya where did you come across it at? looks home made to me
  15. like everyone else has said, throw them on shakey head, i dont perfer them on a c-rig because they sink, dont float,
  16. awesome thats just what i wanted to hear, thanks!
  17. If i lived near you, i would let you try mine, its simply amazing. Its the exact same as the ***, but better. Lol if that makes since. The *** is comparable to $200 rods, the *** is comparable to $400+rods. My next puechase is gonna be memorial day sale on tw for a 7'1 or 7'3 Medium *** Black. I need one for light jigs, flukes senkos all those lightweight baits
  18. exactly, its still a hellva rod for $30.. i know ill find good use for it, picking it up tomorrow on my way home, may even slap a reel on it and take it down to the local pond for a few casts depending on the weather
  19. not to hijack your post, but there's no point in me making a new one that's so similar to yours... but do you think a 7' medium/mod-fast Abu Garcia Vendetta would be a good rod for throwing squarebills?
  20. Ive never had a st.croix but i do have the 7'1 M *** black, and its perfect for shakey head, finesse worms, trick worms, tubes.. etc.. and if your worried about the sensitivity or components on the rod being bad cause its only $100, youre way wrong, this rod fishes like a $200+ rod. Its simply amazing!
  21. i say go 7'3. those extra two inch's arn't really gonna hurt you when skipping,( ya a 7'1 is easier, but i can still skip with my 7'4 dobyns) but it will help a lot when fishing deeper and getting a good hookset. i Have one of both, and you'll love the 7'3 man, it truly is a versatile rod. go for it. soon as my check clears the bank, im ordering another one.
  22. 1/4 oz jigs and a small 3.5in craw on 2/0 hook with 3/16 bullet weight. easier to fish them on a M then MH for me. and there rods are more than a regular M id say between M and MH
  23. to those of you who have gotten the rod, does it have enough tip to throw a square bill pretty good?
