  1. the lucky craft sammy. I started using it last year and it is now my favorite topwater.
  2. I agree especially the part about variations to change things up a bit. I like bucktails and bombers in affordability and effectivness.
  3. 14lb is a nice first striper. it can be difficult getting past that 7-9lb mark as is. Great catch
  4. Anything medium to deep divers. I never caught anything on them.
  5. yep I do. Why? Simply because they look cool and I enjoy using them.
  6. The one by deptford mall.
  7. yes it was a nice little surprise and unexpected. I was able to control myself and not purchase anything.
  8. JDM Tackle and TackleDirect are what I've used with no complaints thus far. Both are the saltwater equivalent of TW in my opinion.
  9. I was at Dicks sporting goods earlier today and they renovated the fishing department and it looks really nice. They got a lot more stuff and variety, especially on the rods and reels. Most surprisingly, they now have megabass and a good variety of them too. I don't know if it's just that one particular store, but figured I share just in case anyone wants to check it out.
  10. I kind of like the smell of the GY senkos whenever I open up the bag. The smell gives me more confidence. I think it's because it doesn't smell so plasticy (not saying others are any less effective, because I wouldn't know).
  11. I thought you were referring to the cheap bait bonanza box, so nevermind. The bait bonanza box I was referring to is still a very good deal, especially on the towater plugs. Yea, someone told me the heddons in wallys bait box are placed there because of a slight manufacturing flaw. They don't lay right or something on the water, but they still swim the same. I can't remember what he meant though and couple of mine float normal to me as far as I know.
  12. I had some trouble with the swimmers (bombers), but the top water plugs like the super spook jr. and the redfin (to a lesser extent) were great. The hooks are pretty good as well.
  13. The smallest box I use for smaller tackle is a plano 3500 box. Relatively small, but could be too big for a vest.
  14. Not sure about the regulations (too ignorant on the subject), but I say keep the lead.
  15. A lot of places I find are quite closeby from work, so I usually spend my hour to hour and a half lunch break to go fishing sometimes. The same deal inbetween some classes in college. Just a couple ideas if you really like to fish. I think everyone has good suggestions already about techniques. Happy New Year.
  16. I decided to go to the dam for some topwater striped bass action today and found hardly any water coming down. The tide was very low. A perfect opportunity to finally go out and stand on the front ledge and do some investigating( lost lures, rockpiles, pools, etc). I noticed a few fish floating on the surface and then. ton of them lying dead or half dead on the bottoom. It was right by the ledge where the water flows down from. I also saw a pretty decent size school of gizzard shad still alive, but lookin lethargic and slow. They were all big ones too. I never seen this before. It seems to coincide with the lack of water downpour. I was thinking lack of oxygen or maybe they came down from the lake above and most of them died from the stress of impact. I gathered about 8 of them and put them in the freezer for bait later. Visiblity was pretty good, but didn't see any stripers just shad. The striper bite was zero too, unsurprisngly. I never saw gizzzard shad like this before. I'm mostly used to seeing the migratory hickory shad or herring. It's like a small hurricane came by and dumped them all out. Just thought I'd share as I thought it was pretty cool and got some fresh bait too for later.
  17. What knot have you been using that keeps breaking?
  18. Ok, so this is probably a stupid question, but is braid noise a bad thing?
  19. I have four areas that I mostly fish and sometimes it gets overwhelming. I guess it's all subjective. I think your focusing too much on what you wish and not on what you already have. There is a surprising amount of public places to fish that I found on maps, but like I said I just stick with mainly four. I don't know what Idiana is like but three or five sounds good as a bank fisherman.
  20. Thank you for the reply. I may just buy the basspro carbonite rods that are on sale. Hopefully it will still be on when my paycheck comes in.
  21. Hi there. My Pflueger president 6'6' light action, im-8 graphite, 2 piece rod broke with a loud snap. Unfortunately, I am now looking to replace the top half. I guess the manufacturer does not supply rod parts for purchase( do any manufacturers do?). I know this is probably going to be a long shot, but if anyone here knows where I can get one then I would be very grateful. I know it's not really that expensive, but I had it for about 4 years and really like it. I caught a ton of fish on it from both salt and freshwater; it was great for light tackle. If no one knows then I guess buying it again will have to do.
  22. Nah I'm fine. I do well enough without it. The thing is, I carry a small bag with me stuffed with lures, bug spray, scale, etc. and rather not deal with more stuff.
  23. Thanks. It's a very healthy looking lake with nice looking fish. I see literally tons of baitfish everyday now. I also catch some really big shiners with 4lb test and smalls hooks using tiny pieces of bread. I actually thought I was catching baby grass carp, lol, they look so much alike.
  24. Hi everyone, I decided to share a few photos of my recent catches. Well, to start off, I recently purchased my first LC sammy 100 after hearing countless great reviews. So decided to test it out at the local lake and got 3 solid strikes. The first was a decent largemouth. The second was a really nice sized pickerel and may be my personal best, but I decided not to measure or weigh any of the fish caught. I thought a carp may have mistakenly grabbed it because it really fought very hard. My line was peeling quite effortlessly. Well, I had to get in the water to pull it out of the weeds before bringing it in. My most memorable catch today. Now, the third fish was a very nice looking smallmouth and ha to be at least 17-18inches. I'm terrible with weight so not even goin to guess that. It fought hard and jump out of the water a few times. I knew visually it couldn't be a pickerel and picks don't really jump that much. It also didn't do the typical headahake largemouths do. So it had to be a smallmouth. My first one in a lake too. I heard smallmouths were in there, but never seen anyone catch them, so it was a pleasan surprise. It looked very healthy too. Just a quick report and sorry if it's a bi confusing to read. I dropped my iphone a few times so the screen is realy messed up.
  25. I have been bass fishing for about one year and don't think I have seen anyone keep a a single bass. I've seen a really big pickerel and the occasional catfish people keep, but other then that, the majority practice catch and release. They are so widespread and abundant that I wouldn't even sweat it to be honest. It's nice that there was a resolution in the end.
