  1. I'm normally a bank fisherman, and have had awesome luck at doing so. But I'm buying a jon boat today, and going fishing in it sunday morning. Any specific lures I should use since now I'll be able to access the entire bank. I'll be casting under lily's, trees, and bushes mostly. Gonna be different casting to the bank since normally I'm casting away from it. Little help?
  2. Gary Yamamoto Senko 5" BAMA BUG. Shhh.. oops. Let that slip. It's me secret weapon!
  3. Abu Garcia Black Max 7' Med/Heavy Action Rod Abu Garcia Black Max Low Pro 6.4:1 Reel 10lb Mono/17lb Fluoro Leader 3/8 ounce Jig Will this setup work? Also how do you fish a jig in heavy grass. Once it hits the bottom its out of sight, and when you get ready to work it you have to struggle to pop it out of the grass. Is jig fishing only for sandy and rock bottoms? Need some help. Thanks guys.
  4. That's the thing about bass fishing. You never know what it's gonna be like. Right when you least expect it you catch the pigs. Such as fixing a backlash or simply daydreaming. Gotta love it.
  5. Dark colors, like your June bugs, Black, that kindof thing. Give it a try man. What's the worst thing that could happen? Either your gonna catch something, or get soaked while doing it. haha.
  6. I also live in NC. Fayetteville in fact. I've been dealing with the rain too, but haven't had much since Wednesday last week. Have had pretty good luck on a carolina rig, even the senko.
  7. Finesse Carolina Rig. Such as a Mojo Rig. Check out Glenn's video on the mojo rig on youtube. Or you can just down scale your carolina rig weight to a 3/8 or 1/4 ounce. Weightless senko will also work excellent. 3/0 hook, 5" senko, little bit of JJ's Magic on the tail. Good to go. Hope this helps. Here's Glenn's video:

Most importantly being your fishing a shallow lake is to use a light jig. 1/4 - 3/8 ounce jig. Nice low profile trailer such as a Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed Craw or Berkley Chigger Craw 3". I would even scale down to 20# Braid w/ a 12-15lb fluorocarbon leader. Now since this is a Jig you want to pitch it low into the cover of your choice, and try not to make a lot of commotion on the cast. Let it sit for a few seconds, then just give it a little shake. If nothing hits it then start a 1, 1 2, short hopping method. Check out this video. Don't know if you've ever checked out Glenn, but the man can teach anyone anything. Hope this helps. https://www.youtube.com/bassresource
  9. What type of technique should I be using. I'm bank fishing, so I'm gonna be cranking from the middle of the pond back towards me.
  10. Just for the information for me and others; What type of techniques and rigs should I and others be using for the summertime. Any advice would be awesome. -Thanks guys, TWMstr
  11. I've had bad experiences with braided line. Palomar, and Uni Knot have both failed me. Don't know if I didn't cinch it down good enough, but I was fishing a carolina rig and lost all four rigs when I casted them out. Knots just came loose. Was using Stren Sonic Braid 30# with Stren 17lb Fluro Leader. 1/2 ounce weigh. So nothing heavy. Love the sensitivity. Just can't afford to keep losing lures. Haha
  12. Bad experiences with mono I take it?
  13. The absolute best dye and scent for unscented plastics is JJ's MAGIC. The stuff is unbeatable. Just to prove it to myself I casted a senko into a hot spot unscented 5 times, nothing. Dipped it in JJ's, caught 3 bass from the same spot. I never fish a plastic bait without dipping it in JJ's. Hooked 4 life. That spike it product along with the power bait formula both rinse right off. JJ's stays put. 4ever. Just my $.02
  14. Completely new to the crankbait world. Just picked a couple out at a local bait and tackle store here in Fayetteville, NC. Got some tips from friends on the forums on how to retrieve, when to use, and where to use them. Now I need help on line and knots to use. I heard 10-17lb mono is normally standard for these, but I'm open to any adv. -Thanks!
  15. Thanks for the ad man.
  16. How do I know which color will work and what won't? Trial and error I suppose.
  17. What color crankbait should I use for clear/stained water. Normally I would use green pumpkin colors in this lake, but I know crankbaits are chrome colored with red and all that junk. Help? lol
  18. Wow. I just didn't think it was that easy to fish double treble hooks through thick grass. Guess I'll give it a try.
  19. Well a crankbait is out of the question due to the grass also. LOL. But never thought or even used a swim bait before. Thanks for the ad.
  20. What type of rig should I be using? I have a pretty strong belief that the bass are suspended right now due to a week and a half of straight rainy days. The lake I fish has medium heavy submerged grass, and some sandy spots. Tried a shaky head, carolina rig, and texas rig, and of all three I've caught the most fish on the carolina rig. But that was early June and I haven't caught any thing with one since. I had awesome luck with a weightless senko yesterday morning. Unbelievable with all this rain we've had here in North Carolina. Little help on what the bass are doing right now? Also I'm bank fishing so flipping a jig under a tree or whatever is out of the question. haha. Any advice would be great.
  21. I'm fishing a pond? I guess? It's about 1000' x 250'. I guess you could classify it as a small lake. The water color is clear/stained. So I use the green pumpkin colors mostly. I'm also bank fishing, but I can only fish certain areas of this lake. It has medium heavy grass on the bottom. I used the c-rig the first part of June and caught a couple decent 4-5lbers, and now it's not working anymore. What do you think?
  22. How should I and others take on lakes and ponds after a week or so or afternoon thunderstorms. Having some knowledge of bass fishing tells me to lighten up my approach and cast to cover but what if that cover is unreachable? Help?
  23. You should be throwing a carolina rig on partly cloudy days, and a mojo rig on cloudy days before or after a cold front. Works everytime.
  24. What type of gear should I be using? Open to all advice and comments.
  25. thanks for all your help guys. really.
