  1. haha never had a rod spike im far to lazy to bring those haha only the cast net bucket to lay the rod against only problem ive had with the trinidads was one of them i moved the handle position and stripped the nut on accident but that was my fault lol but then again i dont fish normal beaches only the one thats behind the jupiter lighthouse visitor center but on that small beach is fishing the inlet so the line doesnt have to be over waves and such and speaking of tarpon went to the lake worth spillway tonight and caught some small tarpon and lost a slot snook
  2. personally if i had a daughter i would invite him over to beat him silly lol...he would wish i would have called the cops haha also just because the boy didnt finish high school doesnt mean anything...look at some of the richest people in the world half of them didnt finish high school or college...hell i didnt finish high school and i didnt go to college but i make $1600 in a 40 hour week doing mostly nothing lol
  3. i have a couple of trinidads and i dunk them and put them in sand all the time and no problems for 12 years now lol and i also have a sedona i dunked in saltwater on accident and no problems...tomorrow im going to get a sustain for the flats rod i just built and see how that works out lol ill dunk it in saltwater and tell you what happens
  4. when i look at my boat i just see a hassle lol...you have to get the boat ready, tow it down to where youll fish put it in the water, fill it with 234132422 things you arent going to use, then you get to fish a bit then you have to get back to the truck, pull the boat out etc etc etc....for me fishing shore is so much easier and you still catch fish lol
  5. barracuda is great to catch there is a place in miami called matheson hammock park (half the park floods on high tide lol) but on low tide the water is about 6-12" deep and me and my friend go walking and the little 1ft cudas hit the bait and come flying out of the water like a wahoo all day long...kinda sucks when you are trying to catch bonefish but whatever lol haha is fun on light tackle
  6. get a nice clamp on magnifying glass for that...my eyes are great and wow sometimes i need it for metallic A thread lol
  7. dont use flex seal i have tried it on my boat and it doesnt hold very well after it gets wet a few times it starts peeling off lol....i tried brazing rods but im not very good at it but i have managed to patch some of my cracks with a alum brazing rod and map gas but i think it wont last long another way if you dont weld it you can put a plate over it and screw it in and seal it with like 5200 or something...i might try that next lol...also there is some stuff from cabelas some stick but its sold out everytime i try to order it lol and i just looked and now it says the product is no longer available..........
  8. this book and website will tell you everything and sooooo much more about rod building...i have the book and have been using that site for a few years now and its wonderful
  9. for bass i dont use a leader...saltwater i use a leader but only because im mainly going for snook and their gill plates are like razor blades so im using a 40+lb mono leader for abrasion resistance and i tie line to leader unless i need a weight or so to stop at a certain point instead of hitting the bait then ill use a swivel but i try not to use a swivel whenever i can because plenty of times ive had fish hit the swivel instead of the bait lol
  10. what kind of bass? LM? and guess there should be a code for each week to include in the pic to make sure no one is reusing fish haha
  11. line can last years if you take care of it but really its not that expensive when you think about it to change when you think its time....the $20 a spool will save much more than that in broken off lures with that said ive had braid on the rod i fish with daily and its about a year or so old right now and still in great condition although i have some of the slick powerpro now and ill respool with that soon to try it out
  12. use a spro swivel they have really really really tiny ones
  13. you dont even need different rods for all those...i dont know why bass fisherman carry 20 rods with them when 2 or 3 will do the same job that said i use 2 spinning rods for lures unless im throwing heavy lures then i pick up my bottom fishing rod and use that....then again im mostly a saltwater fisherman so one rod does lots of jobs
  14. i use buzzbaits in open water all the time...i actually hardly ever fish them in pads or shallow...my fav is the double bladed but the single is ok too it just seems to call the fish haha
  15. i read and article not long ago about this how even my red could look different than the way you see red so is not just fish its everything here is an example its an exaggerated example to show....say we are both looking at a red cup and we both know its red but just because my cup looks red maybe yours looks light yellow or green but you call it red because thats how you see red...now i hope i explained that good haha
  16. im with him spinning reels for life! lol but really the only time i use a baitcaster/conventional is when im throwing heavy lead like 6+ oz because after a few of your hands getting wet and soft skin from bait and such like this braid cuts your fingers up very easily casting a spinning rod...other than that i only use spinning
  17. you using braid or mono/flouro? if mono/flouro i leave maybe 1/8? and if braid i take a lighter and burn the end to make a little ball on the tag then if it slips the burned end will stop it from slipping more
  18. corbett has them in the canals there
  19. im getting ready to go out in about an hour with a friend so we will try that spillway out haha we love to try new spots so we usually just follow close to the intercoastal till we find spillways or places to fish
  20. i use the bang spray and it takes about 15-20 casts before i need to respray it
  21. i use bang for freshwater and carolina lunker sauce in both hard and soft bait kinds for saltwater
  22. haha yesterday i went and got a pier net and that area seems to be getting terrible with crime and gangs now which sucks...i was there from 11pm-2am and kept having to make sure no one was coming behind me lol
  23. well the spillways here in palm beach are finally open again and the snook are eating went last night and got a couple unfortunately the oversize one jumped off the hook before i could get under the dock to grab her and i could one just under slot so if you in south florida and looking for some snook action hit your nearest spillway ill upload pic of the second one in a couple mins edit: sorry i fell asleep last night before i could add the pic lol
  24. i like spinner baits and crank baits really anything when its sunny...when its cloudy i prefer topwater baits but then again i like topwater baits the most because you get to see the fish smash it lol
