I use the new model St. Croix Mojo Dropshot rod and it's been nothing but great. It's light and sensitive, I have it paired with a 2500 Shimano Sedona. In total it was less then $200 for the full setup and that includes the line that on the reel. The newer models of Mojos have the SCIII blank that they use on their higher end rods, the older models with the SCII blanks leave a lot to be desired though.

I use a 2500 size spooled with 20# braid with a 6-8# flouro leader. This allows for long cast which is crucial in the clear water I fish. If I get snagged at least the leader breaks off and I don't lose any of my main line, also after a long cast there's still a good bit of line left on the reel it's self which help keep the retrieve rate of the reel on the higher side. I actually use my dropshot setup for Ned rigs and it's worked awesome thus far. Also it's a ton easier to tie the main line to your leader if they're close to the same diameter, this is why I use 20# braid.

Awesome fish, congrats!!! I just had my first replica done as well in 2017, here's how mine is laid out. This fish is a far cry from yours as it went 6.74, but still turned out awesome in my book. Oh and #2 would be my choice.

I don't know what to say about that? I guess I'd say 5 because they have talent, but I cant make it through about 30 seconds before it gets stopped.

My buddies dad hunts them a ton and he cuts them up breads them and frys them. He cooks them outside usually while were sitting around having some beers, they are the bomb done like this!!!
