For those of you that do not know the history of O.H. Ivie, in 2017 it was only 17% filled due to the extreme drought in West Texas. During this time, everything on the shore basically died. After a few years of reasonable rain, all of that cover became flooded. The bait fish thrived and the bass stocked from the Sharelunker Program started growing along with very little fishing pressure. I believe it's still only 40% filled so with some help from the weather, she could be good for years to come.

I had a DM conversation with Tom about the cycles these lakes go through. California, Florida and Texas all had their times when these 16+ giants were being caught. Not so much anymore. When I caught my 13.75 in 1992, I don't think I cracked the top 100 in Texas at the time. Now we are seeing the 13+ class at O.H. Ivie. I hope it continues like Lake Fork did. I can only imagine what Tom could have done with FFS!

I think his claim is the largest caught on film, cast to catch.

All but a few are using FFS now. Plus he gets $1K a day guide fees and has the same sponsor type deals.

For anything over 3 oz, it's a Tranx 300. Under 3 oz I use a Lew's Super Duty 300. I use Defier Armilo on both.

Here is the pic from the Toyota Sharelunker Program banquet for last year. Anyone that catches a 13+ and donates it for spawning, get's a free replica mount. Note Josh has two! Texas Parks and Wildlife had a problem with fish mortality after spawning them in the past. Because of that, a lot of anglers do not participate so the number of giants caught is much more. It appears they figured out the best way to handle the fish as every one of these big girls was released in the lake she was caught. He is still on the water and posted a pic this morning 2 for 25 ?

Just a quick update. Been 4 months since I placed the order. From experience we all know that NFC is slow to ship. I have been told many times "Yours was an early order so it should ship next week". Now today "The blanks are very fragile and we can only make 9 a day with our mandrels. Gary inspects each one and divides them between NFC orders and Edge Rod orders." I don't think there is much "dividing" going on. Maybe I'll get it in time to finish it before Spring...

Use a small nail weight in the lower chin below the hook shank.

I am braid to leader on everything except frogs and flippin'/pitchin' heavy cover which are straight braid. Besides great hook sets and increased sensitivity, it is very economical only using 10-20 feet of fluro at a time. I use this very simple connection knot:

Great baits that get bit. After they get torn up in the hook area, cut them off for an excellent Ned Rig bait that will stand up. The small Rattlesnake in Chartreuse Pepper is my go-to Carolina Rig bait.

Close but the Hog Farmer has the pin tail which is where a lot of the action comes from. Plus they are 10X more durable than a Keitech. And every soft plastic bait company has copied the Keitech.

I fish 22 on treble hooked baits and 25 on jig hook soft plastic baits.
