  1. Could not agree more, Ricky. This place and its members are awesome. Welcome.
  2. Grab a rod and let's get after it. Welcome
  3. In my short experience here, I'd say you've just made one of your best fishing decisions. The members here are great. Lots of advice and tips everyone can use. Welcome
  4. Question for you Slonezp -- as an HB guy -- any thoughts on the 360 degree imaging package?
  5. As foolish is may sound, I carry 25-30 rods in tournaments and as Rhino notes, socks are by far the fastest way to carry that volume of sticks and not find yourself in a mess. Tubes are a good solution for fewer rods, but if you plan to increase your numbers, consider trying a couple socks. See what you think.
  6. Wow - what a great looking rig! I'm a Skeeter man too and you've certainly landed a trophy with that one you're now pulling. Great color too ... just a real beauty! And let me add, awesome grades too man. Keep that up as well. One thing no one can ever take from you is your education. Good Luck with it ... [i've had my Skeeter 202c since it was new in 1997 and it still looks, handles and performs like the day i brought it home from the dealer. Just give your machine proper care and she'l be there for you when you need her.]
  7. I go with Sam here. Batteries are so key to all we do when bass fishing, I think its worth investing to the devices that are fit-for-purpose in this arena.
  8. Ditto to JigMe. I saved an extra few months and went with a G-Loomis stick and have not regretted it for a second. The sensitivity is just amazing. You can feel the slightest of taps. If you it helps at all, my personal best was taken on this rod - 11.7 in Lake Fork -- on a tiny finesse worm bait ... hardly felt the first tap, but I felt it and it was game on. Just my two cents worth -- good luck.
  9. I've been with Shimano forever and can only remember one time -- had to be 2002-2003 -- when they offered $25 rebate on certain reels - with a limit of 4 per household. I remember, because I upgrade 4 of my old line machines. As of today, I am 90% Shimano and love it. Still think its good value for money and as long as I look after them, they look after me.
  10. Hi Dwight - what do you use each time as a soap? Just curious.
  11. HI Dave - my gut tells me you will always have better luck marketing it as a passage. Look at it this way, many (but not all) folks that buy boats want to be able to use them from the get-go, then make adjustments are they learn now best to make the new machine work to their style. If you remove key parts, then any buyer will have to seek those parts out before they can use it. I am not a boat dealer and have never sold boats for a living, but just seems like a better plan to keep it as a package. Just my two cents worth. -- have a good one and good luck closing a deal on it.
  12. My wife helped me on this one .... She gave me a large food saver container that I use at he end of the year. I put all my plastics in it, then use her food saver machine to remove the air. I have some worms that are now 4 years old ... Preserved using this method.
  13. Agree with Jig Man on this one. If you see fish breaking the surface and you're confident they're bass, I would recommend as Jig does, that you need to "get" to that area to see if they'll crack it. As funny as this will sound, spinning gear with a Texas rig lizard or worm may also help if you just can't cast anything else that far. I know it sounds odd, but if nothing else will work, you can at least get something out that's attached to a line in your hand :-) Good luck.
  14. Thanks Traveler ... Really appreciate the help.
  15. Found the same thing here in Texas. Stock up everyone.
  16. Let me second MCS' post. That post outlines my experience of what works on the water.
  17. I'm new too ... Joined only a few days ago but have already learned a bunch. Great people out here. Enjoy and see you in the forums.
  18. Tbone is spot on. Outstanding fim.
  19. Lots of great posts here the vast majority of which I agree with 100%. Guys I know that have made it on the regional tours here in Texas are all great people to talk to ... Really engaging. Plus they show very well on the leader boards. From there the rest seems to follow. Good Luck
  20. Concur with all the posts here. Safety first, then the hull integrity followed immediately by the condition of the motor. My dad taught me a long time ago to trust your gut ONLY after you check the things that technology can help with. ... Case in point, engine may look great, but its the compression check that carries the day. Also ... Organize the test yourself. Trust everyone, but verify everything. Good Luck.
  21. Triton driver called it. Assuming the hull is ok, the question of value for money will come done to the motor status. Suggest you spend the Time and money to have tested.
  22. Hi KU: I wash and wax mine 4 times a year to help protect the finish. After each trip I also wipe it down using some spot eliminator stuff. Takes 10 min tops but worth it to me. I have a 1997 skeeter that passes for near new. Makes me think the approach I have used since I bought it new was all worth it.
  23. Wow ... That is an awesome rig. Well done to you. Good luck with it. Be sure to give us all an update after your take out the first time!!!
