  1. Welcome Airborne! Being a fellow North Carolinian..I know what you mean about the heat and humidity. Try texas rigged senkos and see how they work, and watch all of Genes videos..your right..he knows his stuff..and read all you can..this place has everything.
  2. Yamamoto has a color(bass pro also has it) called smoke black purple flake. I have caught more on that color than anything else. It looks like it changes colors after it has been in the water to more of a clear color..but it just might be my meds..who knows
  3. My son caught a bowfin and thought it was a bass..talk about a mistake..lol. I am an equipment mechanic and I turn bolts all the time, so I have callouses on the tips of all my fingers..just makes it easier. But, even still, when I first started, I thought they were going to take my fingers off..so your not alone bud lol.
  4. The drop shot is pretty easy to fish with..check out bassresource videos on youtube for the drop shot and advanced drop shot. I was fishing it before, but now I feel more confident after setting it up as he describes in the video.
  5. I agree with a lot of what everyone is saying. The pond I fish sounds like the one you fish to a tee. Where I fish, it is probably about 15 feet in open water, and the levee has broken in the last few years, causing water levels to constantly fluctuate. Don't get me wrong, I have caught 4lbers out of there, and there are bigger I know. It's just the water from all the rain we have got , not to mention the water clarity was pitiful to start with. I go as early as I can and have my son fish a buzz bait, and then I throw a senko in behind it. It works most of the time, but, right now with it being as hot as it is, it makes it tough in those conditions. I agree 100% with finesse anything..it seems to be the only thing working for me these days.
  6. I would have to say Bill Dance...he is just way too funny to pass up the chance of fishing with him.
  7. Thats a nice starter! I would buy one of those myself if I could find one as decent as that.
  8. Welcome Ray!
  9. Added a couple more pics that didn't make the first upload
  10. I bought a boat about 3 years ago and fished with it for one season and found out that it wasn't what I wanted. I worked on it off and on for 6 months or so and got it fairly decent. I will make changes again soon, but, the pictures will show where I started and ended up. Everything has been closed off and supported since the last picture and it does pretty good. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/gallery/album/800-boat-project/
  11. However you mount it, make sure (depending on thrust) you have an appropriate size fuse installed from the battery to the plug, if your using one. You can find articles online that give you the proper location in the length from the battery etc to make it as efficient as possible.
  12. Yeah, post it if you can..I myself would like to see it in action.
  13. Yeah, I agree with the general opinion. I use the kickin bass scent on everything in my bag. Whether it makes a difference or not I haven't been able to determine just yet. My oldest son smokes and he is always with me when I go, that's the main reason I use it.
  14. Welcome Bill..might see you out on falls sometime this year.
  15. Great info..nicely done

The salted ones seem to tear apart real easy when hit hard. I would think the non salted would be a little tougher, and a quick little tidbit...don't leave them in the heat. I left a pack on the front of the boat in the morning and it was about 11 before I remembered. Let's just say that once they get hit..just get a new one lol.
  17. Thanks Guys. And it's always good to see another Browning lurking about..lol
  18. Not sure on the fish marking problem, but, the darker the color, the more dense the structure. For example, rock would be dark, and grass beds would be lighter in color...hope it helps
  19. I use gorilla glue for almost everything. On top of being strong as heck, it also expands as it dries..pretty tough stuff.
  20. Mine was doing that and when I took it apart, I found a small amount of paint tucked in behind the cup as it goes into the brush itself. After I bought a cleaning set with all the little bottle type brushes, after I clean mine I have had next to no problems at all.
  21. Hey Everyone, My name is Robert and I am from Four Oaks, NC. Originally transplanted from Illinois (fishing Carlyle Lake and the Kaskaskia River). Been watching Glenn May's videos and had to come join. It is a lot of information to pack in, and, a real big shock to find out that what most everyone has told me is either completely wrong, or, a little detail of some sort was left out that makes certain things work. Good job goes out to Glenn..excellent instruction and I am glad to be here!
