Loooong Drop Shot dropper
We spent last two Summer's in Minnesota and half the time spent drop shotting largemouth in deep weeds. We usually used around 4ft distance between hook and 1/4oz weight no issues except for pike?

Medium power rod but what action???
I have two Diawa Tatula TTU701MRB Shallow Cranking, Jerkbait, Light Top Water rod. It's 7' Medium/Moderate-Fast(non glass model). Bought my first to use on topwater walking baits- Sammy100, Spook jr. I liked the action so much I got another specifically for throwing KVD 1.5 square bills and lipless cranks. For 1/2oz baits with trebles it's got a perfect action for me, anything much over 1/2 and it feels like its starting to push it. As others said I wouldn't use a modfast action for Trig. FWIW Sportsman Outfitters has them for $99 on sale https://www.sportsmansoutfitters.com/products/daiwa-tatula-bass-rods

Looking for a dedicated frog and pitching rod
Another to consider is 2018 model Diawa Tatula. I use the 7'1" Heavy/fast as my primary frog rod throwing 1/2oz hollow bodies. I will also use it with 1/2oz jigs plus trailer and 11" worms trig in heavy cover.

Plug knocker
Im surprised by the response, I've used one like this for years and only a few times couldn't get a crank back. I throw a lot of Poe's 300 and this thing has saved me a small fortune. You have to get directly over lure usually for it to work properly.

Best Shaky Head Weight for Zoom Original trick worm
These actually standup a bait up when most others don't, been using them for several years and have never had any problems with quality. I primarily fish 25' or less and mostly use the 3/16oz. https://www.megastrike.com/product-page/pro-series-shakey-heads

Ideal reel ratio for jig/frog rod?
Same for me. Especially since it's dedicated to a frog/jig rod.

What lures did you lose the most in 2019?
Spent Summer fishing Minnesota lakes so 1/4oz dropshot weights are top of my list. 3.5" swimbaits are close second due to Pike.

Balancing Rods - Reel to rod weight ratio
Apparently not for you? ?
-
Balancing Rods - Reel to rod weight ratio
With a spinning rod that is definitely a factor. I like to put my whole hand in front of where reel foot attaches to reel seat when working a drop shot. If I'm working a tube, ned or Texas rig in a tip up application I like to wrap my pinky finger behind the reel foot. Me personally with both spinning/casting in tip up applications I will use a chair leg protector from hardware store and put whatever amount of quarters in it to balance rod where I want it. When I purchase reels for new setups I will buy a reel that is 1oz lighter over another and put that extra oz. of weight on butt of rod where it does the most good for tip up presentations.

Your Favorite Crank Bait Rod (1/2 oz. 1.5 Square Bills and 1/2 oz. Red Eye Shads) ?
TTU701MRB Daiwa Tatula Shallow Crank, Jerkbait, Light Topwater Rod is what I use. It's a Medium power/regular action. I use one primarily for KVD 1.5 and rattletraps. 1/2oz is in the rods sweet spot anything over and it feels like it's pushing it even though it's rated for more. I also have another that's dedicated to topwater walking baits (Sammy100 and Spook jrs.) I love the action on these rods with baits that have trebles in that 1/2oz range.

Flipping hook vs. EWG for texas rigs
Gamakatsu EWG 4/0 gets 95% of my work done, I texpose it. Most of my trig fishing is in heavy wood cover using fluorocarbon. I also use a bobber stop to keep weight pegged.

Poor Rod Packaging
I've had a rod come like that when it said, "fulfilled by Amazon". I had another that came in a tube from them when it was shipped by an actual sporting goods store. So now I just make sure it doesn't say fulfilled by Amazon. X3 on Dicks sporting goods, never again

Rod power and action for walking the dog type baits?
TTU701MRB Daiwa Tatula Shallow Crank, Jerkbait, Light Topwater Rod is what I use. It's a Medium power/regular action. I liked it so much it's dedicated to throwing walking baits Sammy100 and Spook Jrs. I've got another I use primarily for KVD 1.5 and rattletraps. 1/2oz is in the rods sweet spot anything over and it feels like it's pushing it even though it's rated for more. I use to use a couple of different MH/fast rods for these techniques until I got the Tatula's because I never found a action in a medium/moderate rod I liked before the Tat.
