  1. *** *** Black if the reel seat does not bother you. I've compared my 7'1" MH *** to an Abu Veracity, a Dobyns Savvy, and a Shimano Crucial. The *** compares favorably to each one in my experience. It's hard to argue with them for the price.
  2. What are those knobs on that bottom Type R? I must know!
  3. I'm going to continue to push Siebert's (they're ridiculous!), but Dick's has Spot Remover Pro's and YUM! Pumpkin 'Eds. Those will hold you . . . for now!
  4. Nah, it's the big keeper. I would find a different shakey head with a smaller keeper or better yet, a screw-lock. Siebert Outdoors makes a good one.
  5. Oh I was just under the impression that the 100M spool doesn't do terribly well with light lures. I could be wrong, I haven't had a lot of time with my Fuego sadly.
  6. Ooh. Share the location of $100 Aetos please! I'd contact Fenwick. They're great with warranty concerns.
  7. I'll see what I can do. My Fuego has a 100M spool though so it might not go well. I've got a couple other reels to try too.
  8. I'll let one cat out of the bag. Smoked Jelly with a brown head.
  9. You know, I have a similar problem with *** reel seats but for whatever reason, the Aussie *** seat doesn't bother me as much. Which reel are you planning to put on the rod? I believe I have some 1/8 Road Runners.
  10. The *** Aussie model 6'10" ML can probably do what you need. I know certain that it launches a 1/8 tungsten + finesse worm. I could try throwing a bare 1/8 jig head or if you could say exactly what you wanted to throw I could try to test it for you.
  11. Aussie model *** 6'10" ML casting rod. $115 shipped direct from 13. I'd probably put fluoro on the Alphas. I don't know for certain on the 105, but the stock worm drive on some of the Alphas variants doesn't lay braid on the spool all that well. However if you really want to use braid, a worm drive from a PX Type R costs about $18 and fixes the problem.
  12. I use the Siebert tungsten weights. The prices are right and Mike's a good guy to do business with. I recommend the Dark Green Pumpkin.
  13. Siebert Punch Jig, heavy as you can get away with. They're like the Hack Attack with better skirts and wire ties.
  14. It depends on your budget. If you want to spend $90-100, buy a Tatula. If you can swing around $150, the Curado I is an option. As for Lews, we should see what the new Tournament Lite can be had for price-wise once it's widely available.
  15. On the recommendation of multiple members here, I bought some Dry Creek Tubes. I also purchased some Yamamoto internal tube weights and some 3/0 skip gap hooks. Well, it turns out the internal tube weights are a little too wide and the 3/0's are too long, not to mention that the skip gaps don't play well with the Yamamoto weights. So before I go out and continue my experiment, does anyone have some good advice?
  16. I'd buy an *** on sale.
  17. If you send it in to DVT, have him tune it and put a Carbontex drag in. It's well worth the price; Carbontex is the best $8 you can spend for a reel upgrade.
  18. Glad to hear it. Post a review of those gen 2's when you get to fish them, if you don't mind. I was looking at one for my gear-destroying girlfriend.
  19. It will probably be fine, but since Carbontex washers are $8 I would upgrade.
  20. 5/0 Owner Twistlock for 4.8" Keitechs and MB Shockwaves.
  21. Lefties seem to be going for maybe $140-150 when they come up from what I have seen. I'm not sure about righties but $120 seems pretty good. Certainly a good buy OP.
  22. I've got a surprise coming soon here I think. . . then I'll take a Daiwa family portrait. Also on topic, the clicking drag upgrade for the Alphas is so worth it.
  23. I like my Sol. Then again it's basically an orange PX Type R.
