  1. What do you catch when you go ice fishing? A COLD
  2. Havent tried the technique but it's always good to try some new stuff when the fishing is tough. I always use heavy scent this time of year as well. Some say it doesnt work...but I say it cant hurt when the bite is tough.
  3. I love slowly dragging various creature baits on a swivel jighead. Gene Larew Hardheads and Chompers work great. Just keeping the bait moving as slow I can and really feeling the bottom. It searches pretty well in grassy places near creek mouths. Just my preference. Good Luck! Smaller Jig and Pig combos are go-to for me this time of year as well.
  4. Billy and Cletus are out fishing and one of them thinks he has hooked a huge one. When he pulls it up to the boat he realizes it is an old lamp. POOF! A genie appears and asks them for one wish. Billy yelled "Turn this hole lake into beer!" The genie clapped his hands...the whole pond turned to beer...and the genie disappeared. Cletus looked at Billy and said "YOU IDIOT! NOW WE GOTTA PEE IN THE BOAT!"
  5. What do women and bass have in common? They both stop shakin their tales as soon as your done catchin em
  6. Got second in a mens church fishing tourney when i was only 4 or 5 and did it with a snoopy rod. Id say we were a little lucky that day or either my dad was puttin me right in front of fish. My cousins found they had an artesian well on their land, built a pond and fished it til it dried out when I was like 10. Then I really didnt fish much again until I started my current job, running outdoor and fishing activities for the outfitters center on a plantation. I love it....funny how the good Lord will put you in positions to better yourself.
  7. I know some of you old timers have some good fishing jokes, so let's hear em. Why not have a laugh while we wait on spring to get here? Here goes mine.... So two old men, Bill and Jimbo, were out on the lake fishing one day. These two had fished together and been best friends since they were kids. They grew up, joined their local bass club, did tournamants, grew old, retired and now they just lived the life they had always dreamed....on the water every day. That day Bill looked at Jimbo and asked, "Do you think there is bass fishin in Heaven?" Jimbo replied, "Ya know I never thought about it really, but which ever one of us dies first....needs to come back and let the other one know if God let's us go fishin up there." Bill agreed and they laughed the conversation off. A few weeks later Jimbo passed away of old age. Some time went by and Bill thought about his fishin buddy all the time. When one night while asleep Jimbo appears as an angel. Bill was startled but excited to see his buddy and couldnt help but ask.....IS THERE FISHIN IN HEAVEN?! Jimbo said, "Well, do you want the good news or bad news first?" Bill quickly said "THE GOOD NEWS" Jimbo said, "Lucky for us....there is fish in Heaven!" Bill was excited and said "Thats great....whats the bad news?" Jimbo replied "Well..........God said he needs a co-angler this weekend, You're comin with me!"
  8. As a power fisherman, id love to work on slowing down....and get better with finesse fishing tactics
  9. Read Mike Iaconelli's book called "Fishing on the Edge." He explains how he feels a fishes belly and also looks down into its mouth to see if anything it has eaten has not been digested yet. Then he matches his bait accordingly. Great book, it opened my eyes to alot of new techniques!
  10. when i cant fish i skateboard any spare time i get....done it my whole life unfortunately now im getting old.....i usually get hurt, then ice my wounds and pout until bass season rolls around. i feel bad for my wife this time of year.....i complain like a baby sometimes when i cant get on the water
  11. So this winter I have been throwing mostly a jig n pig combo on these small lakes I work on. Love it, fun way to catch fish. The other night at the local walmart they had Uncle Josh's number 11 pork chunks for only 50 ceants a pop. People around here apparently dont know what theyre missing. Question is....do these pork chunks store well for an extended period of time? If so, I might just make a trip over there this evening and buy all the rest of em they got.
  12. grass and weeds, shallow points with dropoffs. This time of year in south carolina its consistently in the mid 50's. Been throwin jigs with various chunk trailers at docks and grassbeds. Any version of the senko works good this time of year in our pounds. Just slow it way down with all your presentations.
  13. SK 1/2 oz jig (Peanut Butter Bug) Netbait Paca Chunk to match or ZOOM ultra speed vibe
  14. Being from the south carolina lowcounty.....the only thing i hate about fishing is that bug spray doesnt keep sand gnats from eating you up
  15. Anyone on here know any clubs or friendly weekend tournamants that are anywhere close to the hilton head/beaufort area? It seems the only groups or clubs i can find around here are for redfish or offshore. I am an outfitter at a fishing/golf plantation down here and am just trying to get involved in a bass fishing group in the area. If not, I am willing to start something if we get some people involved. Everyone is welcomed. Any ideas?
  16. When I was four years old i entered a mens fishing tournament with my dad. It was on Clarks Hill with a group from my church. I ended up putting together a 14lb 5 fish limit and got second place out of all grownups. My dad didnt even place. Not to mention all the fish were caught on a Snoopy zebco rod that was only about 3 ft long. Fell in love with fishing that day and still have the trophy. I'd have to say that's a real good fishing day!

  18. My wife gave me new Cabela's Duck boots and a Strike King Sexy Swimmer. My parents got me some clothes from tackle warehouse. And my sister and her boyfriend got me senko's and zara spooks. My family knows me too well!

  20. As far as when I t-rig.....I usually use a 3/0 size hook. It is a pretty good size for any size fish that you may come across on your average day on the water.
  21. Yea my friends kind of make fun of me and say ive got a "violent" hookset. But with all jokes aside.....I dont let many fish get away from me ha. Rip Lips!
  22. Yeah, zoom has a great selection too. Cant go wrong with it i guess
