Rage chunk.

I am fishing a small lake with very little cover and not much structure. Toward the shallow end of the lake, there is an expansive shallow flat ranging from 3 - 6 feet deep, when all of the sudden it drops off into a 15 foot creek channel. The channel has a silty bottom and I've scanned it with my sonar and can't find any cover in it. I fished it with a SK 5xd with no luck. Not too far nearby is a brush pile on a flat adjacent to the channel, in 6 feet of water, that produced a 2 pound largemouth with the first pitch yesterday of a rage hawg. Toward the end of the channel, where it shallows out, are several weed beds that have always produced fish. My question is, is the channel worth fishing in it's deeper zone even though it's a silty bottom with no cover and bass usually like a hard bottom? It is however the only "change" or "structure" in an area without any.

Boil the baits and straighten them out, but it sucks to have to do that. I use sluggos, lake fork tackle live swimmin' slugs, and bass assassin shad assassins. All great soft jerks.

If you want a cheaper setup, a BPS Crankin stick 7'11" MH or Abu Veritas Winch 7'11" MH paired with a BPS Pro Qualifier 5.2:1 reel will get the job done very well. Two hundred bucks compared to 300 for the Curado/Halo. I won't lie though, the Curado/Halo is worth the extra money but the BPS combo still performs well.

If you are throwing deep cranks, a Curado I 5.5:1 and a Halo Cranking Rod MH 7'11" is one badass combo! It has a fantastic parabolic bend for a MH rod.

That's why it's always important to set things out in order and label them in what order they go on, AND have the reel specs. Have learned this the hard way, but thankfully have been able to put the reels back together.

Does anyone know when BPS, Cabelas or TW will be getting them?

I really like a composite or glass rod for topwaters, unless we are talking frogs. A 7' M Veritas Winch 2.0 is very good for lighter topwaters, with a 7' mh better for bigger topwaters. The BPS crankin' sticks are great in this price range too. Either way you can't go wrong.

Pflueger president 6930 with 6 or 8 pound test. Anything above 8 pound test I use casting gear.

Oh yeah, forgot to say if the water is real murky, the SK KVD 2.5 is better. Bigger is almost always better when there is little visibility.

Both. Start with the spinnerbait since it makes more noise, and then the jig if it doesn't get bit. A black/blue single colorado black blade spinnerbait is best, as is a black blue jig with a very active trailer like a rage chunk, or even a rage lobster.

The 2.5 is best later in the year and in really dirty water.

Mounted it with a suction cup on the transom. Problem solved, no more interference. It was the trolling motor.

I use a 7' M BPS Crankin Stick and a 7' MH BPS Crankin' stick. Great rods.

In that price range, the Tatula.

No swivel. I use the rapala knot.

Buzzbait. It only works under a few select conditions. But when it works, BOY does it ever.

Used my new one that I acquired in a trade today. Love the action. Didn't catch anything on it but that's because the wind picked up and I picked up my old trusty spinnerbait and started rippin' lips.

As far as colors, I like white, white chartreuse, golden shiner, chartreuse shad, a plain shad, and black. I like double willows in clear water or for fast retrieves, tandems for all around use, and single or double colorado for murky water. Silver is best for clear, gold for stained.

Pepper custom baits are the best. Terminators and Nichols round out the rest of my arsenal, though Terminators aren't what they once were. On double willow models, the front blade often has trouble spinning. Not so with pepper or nichols. Other spinnerbaits that are very good from what I've heard are Revenge, Northstar, River2sea, and Stanley.

VERY good spinnerbaits from what I hear, but I don't have any. I mostly use Pepper Custom spinnerbaits, Nichols, and Terminators.

My PQs have never let me down. Just a yearly cleaning and they will last a long time. The best 100 dollar and under reel around, unless you can find the Tatula or a Citica E at that price. The Orra is a good real but not as good as the PQ.
