  1. The Dynamic Lures Jspec is about 3.25" and is the best smaller profile jerkbait out there. X rap 8s and LC pointer 78s are great too, but the Jspec produces more for me. The Rapala rip stop shouldn't be overlooked either.
  2. Abu Garcia Ike series cranking rods. Halo is good too as are the others mentioned. Even the Veritas Winch is a nice rod.
  3. Yep, you are right, they never do justice.
  4. Yes I have lots of TRDs and Hula Stix, and I know not to mix them with other plastics. I keep them totally separate.
  5. It was weighed and measured. Length was 23 inches.
  6. I'm going to pick up a couple of these for a bluegill imitation swimbait. Who else has thrown these and how do they work?
  7. Are they worth getting or should I just stick to the Z man stuff? How is the durability and action compared to the Z man?
  8. Use pieces of crawler where legal, or jerkbaits like the HD trout or J spec when the water is warmer, and you will generally badly outfish flies.
  9. Sand Hollow is probably the best pure largemouth fishery, followed by Powell and Quail Creek. Recapture, Utah Lake, and Jordanelle also have good largemouth fisheries.
  10. Red eye shad, hands down.
  11. KVD 1.5, Norman Fat Boy, and Bomber Square A. Bluegill, red craw, and fire tiger are my faves.
  12. Old school terminators, followed closely by Pepper Custom Baits Spinnerbait and Nichols Pulsators.
  13. A 4" white senko of all lures. Caught this 7.17, my new personal best.
  14. My favorite jerkbaits are the Dynamic Lures J spec, a LC Pointer, an X Rap, and a Shadow Rap.
  15. A Jerkbait, Lipless Crank, Ned Rig, Shad Rap, Wiggle Wart, Drop Shot, Carolina/Mojo rigged Centipede (in that order). Once the water warms up to around 50 a spinnerbait really comes into play as well. Jigs and swimjigs with subtle action trailers can work well too.
  16. I use a 7'3", MH Ike Series Casting Rod from Abu Garcia.
  17. I'm sending this reel into Mike at DVT to see if he can fix it, but I'm curious. Does anyone else know what could cause a baitcast reel's anti reverse to very occasionally slip after a prolonged fast retrieve? I have this problem with a Bass Pro PQ and now a Shimano Curado 200E. I have changed the clutch in two reels and this didn't fix the issue. I thought maybe too much oil, so I gave the reels a very thorough flush and then re - lubed with a very small amount of oil and grease. Didn't fix the problem either. What gives?
  18. I know Strike King has been sold, and I've noticed all the baits are on clearance at Tackle Warehouse. Are they going to bring back most all of them or what?
  19. The Spawn in Colorado is usually mid April to Mid May
  20. Has anyone tried the new zoom frogs that float? Not the horny toads but the brand new ones.
  21. Shaft was not bent, just got my stainless back today as good as new. Gotta go get another cotter pin though. I hate those things.
  22. Noticed I have a bent prop today. Is it toast? Thankfully I have another one if it is.
  23. Not much of a crank bite today period, a couple TINY ones on a fire tiger bomber fat a and a firecraw model A.
  24. Thanks guys, I will put a couple in my starting lineup box early tomorrow from my main cranking box. They have caught me plenty of fish this year, especially earlier.
