Entry Level Trolling Motor
I'm looking at just purchasing a entry level trolling motor for a small boat to take on electric only lakes around me. What should I shoot for, the Minn Kota Endura or a Bass Pro Prowler? Also, I am somewhat confused with the marine batteries. Size 22, 24, 27, etc. What is the difference, length of a charge? I was thinking a size 24 but that was a pretty random decision.

Over-Populated Pond?
If there's crappie, they are competing with the bass for forage and probably stunting their growth. You need to have yourself a fish fry.

Bass Vs Trout Techniques
Generally you use lighter line with trout fishing, so you want more of a reel set. Too strong of a hookset and you will snap your line. You are also using lighter hooks so they penetrate easier. Big trout will often go after jerk baits, but my personal favorite trout lure is the thomas buoyant spoon. Cast it up stream and yo yo it back to you. You always want to cast upstream b/c trout look that way for food. I like the black nickel and waterrmelon colors for spoons. Gold red is another good color. http://www.basspro.com/Thomas-Spinning-Lures-Buoyant-Spoons/product/104191/

Older Fishing Gear, Abu Ambassadeurs, Shimano Black Mag
My friend at work gave me a bunch of his old fishing gear. Included in the lot were a bunch of Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 4600 c4ss, a few 5500s, lots of rods, and a Shimano Bantam Black Magnum. Does anyone know about the black magnum? Is it a pretty decent reel? Also, is anyone familiar with improving the Ambassadeur 4600 c4s. Improving the bearings, cleaning them out etc..

Manns 12" Jelly Worm
I love big worms. I don't think i would even use a worm less than 10" unless I was using like a drop shot or some other finesse technique. One of my best produding presentations of the summer has been the 11" Mega Miki (not the jelly worm but still a big a$$ worm). Just T-Rig it along the edges of weedlines, or drag it across some mats and that seemed to work for me. Granted you probably won't catch a lot of numbers, but I was very happy with the quality of the fish.

Deep Water/ Thermocline Fishing
So you are basically looking for channel breaks, humps, ledges, flats etc. on the depthfinder that come up around the thermocline depth>?

Nose Hooked Fish
Today while I was at the pond on my lunch break I caught two decent sized bass on a squarebill crankbait. Both of the fish were hooked in the exact same spot - the outside of the nose, with the back hook. What does this mean, that the fish were just hitting the bait, and not actually trying to eat it? Just more of a reaction strike trying to injure a baitfish?

Deep Water/ Thermocline Fishing
I am typically limited to the shore and if I do get out on a boat it is usually on very shallow lakes with no thermocline, so I have a few questions regarding deeper structure fishing and fishing at thermoline levels. When anglers say there is a "hard thermocline at 18-20'" and the fish and baitfish are holding tight at this depth, Does this mean that anglers are fishing the portion of the bottom that is in that thermocline range. I assume they would be only fishing open water if the fish were suspending at this range. Basically in the picture that is attached below, If I wanted to target these fish I would want to get my lure on that gradual slope that hits the thermocline. RIght?

Yamamoto Hard Baits?
I have used both the popper and the wtd lure. They are OK. The paint jobs on them are very nice, the hooks are great, but I still find myself reaching for the Super Spook Jr. instead. I'm sure they could work just as well, but I kind of feel like if it ain't broke why fix it.

Need Help With Tubes And Grubs Please
I personally have more experience with grubs. I find the best weedless application for grubs is on a srew-loc shaky head. Salt n pepper grub on a shaky head used to be all I fished.

Tips For Quitting Smoking.
The people recommending cold turkey know what they are talking about. It is all mental. For me the hardest part was getting into my car and not lighting a cigarette. Also, and maybe most importantly was not allowing myself to buy cigarettes. If you stop buying cigarettes you will stop smoking them. Yes your friends may bum you some, but eventually you will probably feel like a mooch lol. You have to WANT to stop smoking very badly as you will want a cigarette very badly. Cold turkey is how you do it. There's no glamour to it, and no magic tricks. You just have to want it.

Is This Possible?
Let the man experiment. Sure it may be possible. You will only find out if it works if you try it. Like others have said, you would probably be better off just buying one that floats, but if you are willing to part with a swimabit if your experiment fails then go for it bud. You never know what you might discover.

Havoc Smash Tubes Not Getting Hook Ups
I always use the tube jigs with the weed guards. You get a better hookup and action on the fall.

Hey Guys
Hello Everyone, Been reading this forum for a while now and finally figured I'd join. I live in St. Louis, MO and do most my fishing on the urban ponds managed by the MDC here. I don't have a boat yet so I'm kind of limited to these for now. I used to do a lot of bass fishing when I was younger before I had any real responsibilities, but now with my daughter (5) and my wife 9 mos pregnant with number 2 I try to get out when I can. If any one is ever looking for someone to split some gas with on the weekend fishing trips, let me know.
