  1. Well Bob, what did they want?
  2. I'm in Saint Louis, a good city park lake in St Louis is Jefferson Lake in Forest Park. Innsbrook and Lake St. Louis have good fishing as well. Also heard there is good fishing in the lakes surrounding the Mills.
  3. Hey guys, I was supposed to fish a charity tournament this weekend at Rend Lake for a fallen soldier, but my boater cancelled on me at the last minute. Just wanted to see if anyone here was interested in fishing with me this weekend. Big Bass payout is $750. Not sure what winning team gets. $100 per team. I can fill in more details for anyone that needs them. John
  4. I heard lone elk is a pay lake is that correct?
  5. Just figured I'd share some pics of some of the decent fish I've caught so far this spring. Biggest two were caught on a jig - one by a flooded bush, another by a fallen tree. Third one was caught on a squarebill. Been a great spring so far and I look forward to seeing more pictures of everyone else's catches.
  6. I will be in Orlando next week and I plan on bringing my Scanoe and small 4 hp with me to try and go fishing a few days. I contemplated going on Toho, but I feel like my rig may be a little small for a lake of that size. Could someone recommend a smaller lake in the area that has some good fishing, and hopefully a boat ramp of some sort where I could launch my canoe? I appreciate any help you guys/gals could provide.
  7. 6lb Maxima mono. I hate braid.
  8. Does anyone on here know if the spools for the Lew's Tournament Pro and BPS Pro Qualifier are interchangeable? I did a qucik swap to see they they would work in the other reel, and it appears so. I just haven't gotten a chance to cast them so I wanted to see if anyone else had tried this before.
  9. Thanks for all the tips!
  10. Bring gold and silver spoons. The reds, specks, and other species will tear them up. I had luck last time I was near there jerking them up and letting the fall if you can find any grass.
  11. Hello everyone in the south. I am going to be taking a family trip to Orlando in a few weeks and just wanted to see if I could get some fishing advice from everyone. I am going to be able to take two trips - one on the way to Orlando where we will be stopping at the Osceola National Forest to camp for the night. Looks like there is a lake called Ocean Pond there. Anyone fished it before or have any advice? This will just be a family day so I won't be fishing too hard, I just was wondering what to expect. I am also going to be able to sneak away for the day and I was planning on heading to Toho. This will be my heavy fishing day, most likely from sun up to sun down. I have a small boat and outboard, so I won't be able to venture far from the ramp, but it looks like I might try to focus on the Shingle Creek area. From what I've read it sounds like the fish might be spawning or near the tail end of the spawn, but I was just hoping a local may be able to share some helpful info for me or possibly suggest a different area or lake to try. Thanks for any help guys and gals.
  12. It was 17 in. - You could have had the record too!
  13. That could eat this gizzard shad. Caught this while trout fishing in a lake that is stocked with trout in the winter. I wasn't able to get it certified by the Missouri Dept of Conservation until the next day, but it weighed in at 1.92 lbs on a certified scale. Assuming the submission is approved, it will be a new Missouri line and pole record for Gizzard Shad.
  14. I'm scared to click on this link at work.
  15. Hey Joey, I hear you on that. I think I'm headed out to Coffeen this weekend.
  16. Get the T3 Ballistic.
  17. Oh I hear you there. Nothing beats the big screen, although these days with airplay, chromecast, etc., watching on the big screen is a lot easier than before.

I think the most important part of the Ned Rid is the weight of the head. My standard go to is 1/16, with half a zman zinkerz super glued to the jig head. 1/8 is the MOST weight I will use, and that is in very deep water. You can find the mushroom heads with weeduards at some various places around the web. Elaztech is the best. The lures will last you forever and they get better and better the more they get chewed up and stretched out. Important take aways from the ned are that it is a "no-feel" presentation which many anglers do not like. Your bait should just be gliding down the water column. If you feel the bait I believe you are using too much weight, the only thing you should feel is when the fish takes the bait and starts swimming off with it. The ned is a bait that the fish like to hold onto for a while. I believe it is because it is a very natural technique. There is lots of talk of "action" when it comes to baits, but I believe this is a more lifelike presentation, where the bait isn't doing anything to try and get noticed, kind of like a crawfish just scooting along not trying to get noticed and not aware of a bass chasing him down. I think this results in more of a hunting strike from a bass. One where their intentions are to eat the lure, as opposed to a reaction strike where they might just be crushing the lure real quick with their mouth. Wood is great, rocks are great, grass is great... you get the picture. Thats my 2 cents for ya.
  19. Depending how much the package is, I believe you can watch the extended cast and all the shows for like $30... I imagine that is cheaper than paying monthly for the Outdoor Channel, unless that is you watch the other channels included with the package.
  20. The color was a v44 - Blue Mackerel, that was I think designed for salmon/ saltwater fishing in the pacific NW. Yes those are custom paint jobs... LW Luresmith baits in MO. Tim Hughes also does good custom paint jobs as well. I believed he designed the new custom wiggle wart colors that are exclusive to bass pro.
  21. Rumor has it that the Rock Crawler is going to be released on 1/15. Pretty pumped as well.
  22. Well... Here in Missouri, this is why. In reality, the new vs old differences are slim, but you know how fisherman are. Any edge they can get to catch more/bigger fish than someone else they will pay for it. People pretty much summed up the differences above. Different Molds Different Bills Different weights/sounds People locally will pay about $15-20 bucks per original wiggle wart and if the finish is right fish them, or will have them custom painted. Most of the really expensive wiggle warts are usually for collection purposes.
