Powell Inferno
Sportsman's Warehouse has great prices but they charge shipping regardless where you live. Its 13 bucks plus another 7 if the rod is 7 feet or longer. Alternative route is ship to store and pick it up if you live near. Then if you live in the state that has a sportsmen's warehouse, you will pay tax too. Back to the original post, haven't use or own an inferno rod but it's a rod I would consider. Before buying the inferno I will wait for reviews from the average person and from *** and tackle tour. I am very satisfied with their max rod series. If you get an inferno rod let us know your opinion on it.

Baitcast Beginner Help
I will recommend 10lb mono to start out until you get better. I would go with Berkeley trilene or big game and get a 300 or more yard spool. Better yet just have the local store spook line for you and it should cost between 3 to 6 US dollars. Practice practice and more practice. That will help you improve and gain confidence in using a baitcast combo. When I first started using baitcast i would cast in my backyard and front yard. Use what you have and save your money for something else. If it isn't broken don't try to fix it.

Best Line For Jerkbaits
This topic is common. I too ask recommendations for a jerkbait rod. What was recommended to me is: a rod in the 6' to 7' medium or med/heavy power and fast action. Length is a personal preference. Some like a shorter rod so when they work the rod in a downward position it didn't slap the boat and/or water. Some like longer rods. I was watching youtube and rick clunn said he uses different lines for different situations. For example light line (10 lb) for more depth and heavier line for shallow depth. Then he started talking about tuning with hooks and split rings. That's another story. I've read people saying gear ratio doesn't matter cause all you're doing is picking up slack line. Then I read an article about kvd and jerkbaits. He said he likes a fast gear ratio cause if the fish takes the lure he can reel in the slack line quickly and set the hook. What I've gather up.... it's all preference. People go through a trail and error process to find what they like. Good luck on your journey. I'm still trying to find a rod.

Jerry's Lures Mission
For more info read this. If he reaches a certain amount of likes in 36 hours he's giving away a 20 count bag of lures. Spread the word. Link: http://www.fhcoutdoors.com/jerrys-lures-mission-main-street-grant/ You're welcome.

Benifits Of Mono Vs. Fluro
Do you mean knot strength? If so, with mono and fluorocarbon always moisten before tightening up the knot. That's with all knots. I don't have knot issues when this is being done. In case you're wondering what knot I use. It's the palomar knot for line to lure and uni to uni knot for line to line.

Benifits Of Mono Vs. Fluro
Everyone has their own preference. With all the lures you listed I would use fluorocarbon because it sinks. With the line sinking you'll get more depth with some lures. Only time I'll use mono is when I'm topwater fishing. Mono floats.

Which Rod?
Copied and paste:VanDam stresses another factor that he believes is critical to fishing success — compatibility. "Every company's rods are different. They all have different blanks, different handles, different guide spacing, different actions, different tips and a different overall feel. It's important that all your rods be from the same company. There's more to read and I have provided the link below. Source: http://www.bassmaster.com/node/98770

Homemade Spooling Station
I can adjust where the spool sit. Before I took these recent pictures I just spooled the reel you see in the picture. While spooling line onto the reel I use my other hand to guide the line in so there won't be any issues. It works great.

Homemade Spooling Station
Thanks for the compliments fellas.. Was at the local hardware store and I found out what to use. I got the idea from looking at the P-Line spooling assistant. Another product I am copying. lol.. my local hardware store has springs, split collar, and rubber/cork stopper of different diameter. So buy 2 springs, 2 split collar, 2 rubber or cork stopper (your choice and must be tapered), and 4 washers. It is important that you get the hardware in the same diameter as your rod. Drill a hole through the stopper. Diameter will be the same as your rod and drill the hole in the center of the stopper. The order will be split collar washer spring washer stopper spool stopper washer spring washer and split collar. Edit: I haven't bought the hardware yet. I just totaled the price for the hardware and it came out to 14 bucks before tax. Since the p line spooling assistant is the same price I'll might be buying the p line spooling assistant instead.

Homemade Spooling Station
- 2x4, use to hold the rod (Shakespeare casting blank) and metal pipe. I cut the 2x4 in half then cut to 2 1/8 inches in height to support the cork and 2 1/4 inches to support the blank. Then 3 inches for the pipe.- Plywood for the platform. 20 inch length x 3/4 inch height x 6 inch width - Right angle brackets to secure 2x4 blocks onto the platform. Used Aersol black paint. Tomustang, what are you talking about? I'm not finish yet. Still need to secure the pipe that holds the spool and find a way to put tension on the spool. Thanks. It was a fun project.

Which Rod?
These 2 were the choices because powell list them for cranks and jerkbaits. I am reconsidering. Thanks to you guys I have open my eyes even more. I was so focus on the specs, I didn't even think about the rod length until now. Since I'm a short guy (5'2") I'll definitely consider shorter rods. I'm not set on these rods and with the replies I am looking at other rods. I do want to stick with powell rods though because I have done research and it's important to stick to 1 brand of rods. If you guys don't mind, any suggestions on rods? (Any brand is fine) My budget is no more than $150.

Which Rod?
Thanks for the replies.. I never held nor use a glass rod so I have no idea what it feels like. Well i gotta stop by the store and get a feel for them. Jrob, if you don't mind me asking, why don't you like a glass rod for jerkbaits and swim baits?

Your Favorite Knot For When Your Casting Hard Baits?
Palomar knot for everything. For mono and fluorocarbon line I always moisten the line before tightening the knot.

Jerkbaits Fishing
Fluorocarbon because it sinks & that will give you more depth. I've read ***'s article about gear ratios and they said 7.1:1 for jerkbaits.
