  1. Was cleaning my rods and reels. Managed to break the insert off the guide (bottom guide closest to the reel) then dropped it on the floor and it cracked into 2 pieces. Is it okay to fish without an insert? If not what do I need to do?
  2. You don't need that part. Those are extra parts. Lol
  3. I don't have a TP. BB1 Pro casting distance video coming soon.
  4. Had a chance to look at the reels more. The bb1 and bb1 pro are pretty much identical except for a few things. Difference is handle material, gear ratio, braid ready spool, side plate and external adjustable centrifugal brakes. However, I was able to swap the spool and side plate. BB1 with bb1 pro spool and side plate The side plate didn't fit on smoothly. Had to use a little muscle to get fit and it didn't click once the side plate was on. The brakes and spool work like it should. I might just buy an extra bb1 pro spool (comes assembled with spool shaft, pin, bearing, and brakes) and side plate. Then slap it onto the bb1. BB1 Pro with bb1 spool and side plate This fits perfectly and clicks when I slide on the side plate. The brakes and spool works like it should.
  5. Received my lew's bb1 pro series 7.1:1 today. Free Spool test out of the box and a side by side comparison with the Lew's BB1. K2 & G3 Korea? Does anyone know what that means? My guess would be that it is being made in different factories.
  6. If you fish jerkbaits, get a justerkbait rod and put the extra daiwa reel on it. Jerkbait rod St croix avid 6'2" M XF (model AC62MXF)
  7. FYI it's on sale for 200 at tackle warehouse. It's a right handed retrieve reel in 7.1:1 gear ratio.
  8. To prevent treble hooks getting ripped out of fishes' mouth.
  9. Comparing specs, lew's has more to offer for the same or less money. Don't get me wrong, shimano is great as well. lew's has been in business for a long time. Back then lew's and shimano came out with a baitcast reek together. I've seen pictures of it. A couple of members on here have them. Back to topic, imo they are definitely a quality reel and with great customer service to back up their warranty. At the end it all comes down to personal preference.
  10. Yes the bb1 in 5.1:1 doesn't have the instant anti reverse but the bb1 in 6.4 and 7.1 have it.
  11. With casting rods that has the trigger underneath the reel, how do you guys twitch/work the jerkbait without having pain on your fingers? I can only twitch downward so long before taking a break.
  12. I'll post a picture or 2 when I get home. Currently out of town and will be for another week and a half.
  13. Great post goose. Makes me want to start collecting my gear.
  14. Abu garcia white 7' spinning rod (my dad's rod) I don't know what happened to the reel. Ever since my dad stopped fishing this rod has retired. My dad is no longer with my family and I so I keep it even though I don't use it. He also left a shotgun and bought me my first car. Even though my first car is giving me trouble and have thought about selling it, I have decided to keep it since my car has sentimental values.
  15. Can't speak for bps rods but the *** *** black and powell max and endurance rod is what I can suggest. Check out tackle tour's review of the *** *** rod. Retail price for the powell max is 170 but they're on sale for 100-120. Retail for the endurance rod is 200 but on sale for 120. I think there's at least 1 that you want. (Fast Heavy 7')
  16. 1/8th of an inch from the lip for baitcasters as well.
  17. Niners in the house. They beat 1 of the best teams.
  18. Shimano curado, daiwa tatula, and any lew's reels. Im sure there are many more that I just don't know about. I would get the reel in 7.1:1 or higher gear ratio. For rods, *** *** black. Only one I will recommend cause I don't know too much in the 100 dollars range. Check out tackle tour's review of the *** black.
  19. It's up to you. If I were you I'd get the 6.4:1 5.1:1 is for deep cranking. You won't be disappointed with the bb1.
  20. BB1 will be great for the weight you will be casting. I found out it can also cast soft plastics like 5.25" senko, fluke, drop shot and etc respectably well (100 ft consistently). If you do get this reel be sure to clean and re lube the 2 bearings. 1 on the side plate and the other 1 on the spool shaft. Since it wasn't a hassle I also clean the bearing behind the cast control knob. Doing this and running a q-tip around the drum (inside the side plate) where the brakes rubs against, I have seen an increase in distance. What do you consider a long cast? Like 150 feet for a 3/8 oz lure?
  21. What lure were you reeling in? 1 thing I think it could be is the lure getting caught through weeds, grass or whatever is down in the water. Have you tried reeling without any lure to see if it's the reel or not?
