No need to break in the line. I have great success with polmar knot. I don't use line conditioner. I might in the future to see what that's all about. I'd agree. Sounds like the problem is your reel settings. Tighten up the spool tensioner and maybe the brakes to correct the backlash problems. Although I know exactly what you mean by line acts like a spring. My new seaguar red label fluorocarbon line acts like a spring and flings off on 1 of my spinning reels but I don't have this problem with my baitcast reel. I researched and found no answers. Even had an experienced friend re spooled my spinning reel and it still fling off. So I contacted seaguar and told them my problem. They didn't have an answer so they just took care of me. I won't say any more than this. Seaguar has great customer service.

I just bought this reel in 6.4:1 left hand retrieve a few months ago. I haven't had much time to fish with this reel and am not an expert by any means but their review is spot on. Although this reel doesn't have an external brake adjustment, it takes only a couple of seconds to pop off the side plate to access the centrifugal brakes. Ditto, Rocbass. I wish we can ask him questions.

Hey all. I'm a new member here but not to fishing. I'm 28 yrs old and been fishing pretty much my whole life. Wasn't until 6 or 7 years ago that I started fishing for other species. Started bass fishing and fell in love with it. lol. Have fished for crappies, stripers and etc but nothing like bass fishing. So I do mostly bass fishing. This year I'll be fishing for salmon in northern California. Looking forward to learn as much as possible to here and getting to know you guys.
