  1. Got a chance to go fishing with one of my buddies Friday. I got a pretty good bite on a swimbait and when she came up and tried to headshake, i almost s*** myself. Unfortunately life has been hard on this old girl. Despite being 27 inches long and having a 14lb head, she only read 9lbs 10 ozs. She was not in very good shape . So I tried to be as gentle on her as I could and got her back in the water to live out her days, which I think are numbered. BUT she is in my top 5, and my first big fish on that particular bait and lake! A little bit later I got this fish to chew also. She smashed my bait and fought well. Although she is a little thin, she is in good shape and will bulk back up this fall/winter when more trout become available. She went 7lbs 4ozs. I called her to the ounce before I weighed her too It was a great trip and I can't wait to do it again! P.S. I also caught this one earlier in the week at a different lake on a jig 5lbs 9ozs
  2. I know! I don't know why he builds them so cheap!
  3. My buddy just traded a lightly used Pflueger Trion for his share of boat gas for the day. He got a good deal
  4. Gorgeous fish! What did she weigh?
  5. 50-65lb sufix braid with 20-25lb mono/ flouro leader
  6. if you have a hook hanger that looks like this h where the left hand line is the rod blank, then you can just put the eye of the weight in the hanger.
  7. Seaguar Invizx 10lb.
  8. I keep my plastics EXTREMELY simple. I use 4.5-6 inch straight tailed worms, and 4" leeches. Some roboworms, and a local hand pour company. 4 basic colors 1 clear/white super subtle/natural color for very clear water, stubborn fish, or fish that are on shad hard 1 LOUD (morning dawn) color for aggressive spots and smallies, certain water conditions 1 natural/darker color that will blend in with the environment. i use this one most 1 dark/chart tail color for dirtier water. I don't dropshot much in less than 3ft vis, but this is what i will use. Especially with the drop shot, i think catching fish is based more upon technique, depth of water, depth of fish, and lastly color groups (not 500 different colors). Man! I love drop shotting!
  9. I use the palomar with flouro too. I don't have any problems. But I don't use the 5lb flouro that alot of guys use. I use 10lb. But I retie alot.
  10. I think he uses an improved clinch knot on his dropshot rig. I just use the palomar and retie often. Works fine. Its my favorite rig to fish for pure numbers. Never caught a big fish on one, about 4.5lbs is probably my biggest on it. It can be a ton of fun and a skunk buster too.
  11. I'd give you $3.
  12. I have had my Tierra since april 13, which is weird cause i thought i bought mine before lbh. But I would choose it over a stradic (non mg) anyday.

  14. Where are you going in Colorado? I lived there until I was 18.
  15. Define "spot" I have places that I will drive clear across the lake to fish that are about 5ft in diameter. 1 cast with a couple different baits and I am done. There are some lakes out here that have huge main lake points that would take 40 casts just to half azz cover the water. If it is a new "spot" I would fish it fairly quickly over a number of trips. Then you will start to firgure out what kind of potential it holds. If it looks good, fish it harder next time. I spent 9 hours fishing a 100ft stretch of bank night before last. It is a good spot.
  16. LOL! NO JOKE!!! Get the Powell!
  17. nope. i wear a headlamp to tie on and boat fish with, but it only gets turned on in the bottom of the boat, or while netting a big fish.
  18. Swimbaits 10-17.5 inch worms giant lizards big jigs/bulky trailer black buzzbait full size brush hog no lights, no noise, no dinks
  19. The 11-4 in my avatar is the biggest of the year...for now
  20. No, as near as I could tell, the closest bassable water was almost two hours from where we were staying, which was on the coast, about an hour southwest of portland. I had anticipated clear water smallies in the rocks and packed a limited amount of gear accordingly. I got stuck fishing lakes and ponds just in from the coast and they were all very shallow with very dense lilly pads. Not where you want to be with a ML rod and 20lb braid >. Its ok, Im home now, going to one of the best lakes in the area tomorrow for a giant, then to Clear Lake on Sunday for as many 4lbers as you can shake a rod at Now if my plan just comes together
  21. Okay Rolo... NOW THAT WAS FUNNY! The wording was priceless....unless of course you are a widely known and published author, with an equally known payment outline.
  22. Nice! I don't know about everyone else, but if that guy came up and even asked for a beer, he would have one. He wouldn't have to go around sniping cans
  23. I caught half a dozen bass in some crap hole pond. Dinks. Did get out after some sturgeon however. Boated 5 or six between 40 and 50 inches, and my uncle got one to the boat that was in excess of 7 feet! That was cool. You should have seen her go airborne... she cleared the water by at least 4 feet. KERSPLOOOOOSH!
  24. Man...the northwest is lame!
