  1. identity debate: don't give a crap better music: Slipknot I used to listen to them alot, but I have kind of lost the taste for their music. Wait and Bleed and Spit it Out are still a couple of my favorite songs of all time though. Just getting into Demiricous at the moment. Pretty heavy, but kind of somewhere between thrash and groove metal. If I were to only have one Metal band to listen to for the rest of my life, at this point, it would be Lamb of God. Those guys are awesome, 'specially LIVE! I saw them and Shadows Fall open for Slipknot a year or two ago. Great show all around.
  2. F that noise! Poisonous snakes make me squeal like a little girl!!!
  3. Yeah, I couldn't care less about the broken rod. It was just a utility stick anyway. It was the rod I landed my 13 on as well, so I felt like I got my $100 out of it Thats exactly what I said, though, it'll be my trophy for that fish!
  4. I use an 11/0 Owner on everything from 10" Power Worms on up to my 17.5" mondo worms.
  5. they get torn off all the time. at $2 a pack, i just buy plenty. But you could always save the ones with a torn off claw, and when you have some down time at home, use a lighter to weld arms back off of them you have 10 with one arm, make 5 with both
  6. I use my 7' Powell ML for all kinds of stuff: poppers, dart heads, light shakey, and rip baits. But when it comes to Drop Shotting, it is my favorite rod!

But seriously though, there is something SOOOOO much cooler about a little mom and pop bait shop than a big box store. Specially when they are fully stocked with the newest, baddest, most relevant baits on your water!

    LOL!
  9. I dont know what to tell you man. Try texposing it instead I guess. Crappy deal...
  10. "brink of endangerment" kind of a curious concept, when you think about it... Not trying to discredit your argument though, I just thought that was funny. I will eat spotted bass at every opportunity. They are choking lakes and stunting real bad in my area. VERY TASTY!!!
  11. Well guys the date is near! I will be flying out on the 20th of this month and flying back on the 27th. I'm stoked for the trip, although fishing is not the primary focus. I talked to an artist from seaside at the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation show and he said he could hook me up with a float trip with a guide buddy of his. I am mildly receptive to this, but have not made reservations and am unsure of the particulars. I am planning on taking a spinning rod and baitcaster and a somewhat limited supply of tackle. Just curious as to what kind of bite/conditions to expect. Also wondering if anyone lives nearby that would like to fish. Does anyone have a favorite bass guide? My one way radius will be about 50-75 miles, and if I am solo I will be banking it. Any help would be VERY MUCH APPRECIATED! Thanks Guys. Jay
  12. I love the mission fish! Extremely versatile. I use a 7'11" Shimano Crucial H with a Calcutta 400b. A bit overkill in some situations, but my motto with backbone and line is "its better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it" . The six inch is kind of the swing bait. Small enough to throw on a beefy flippin stick but still big enough to chuck on true swimbait gear too. 25lb P-line is the line I am comfortable with. As far as techniques: Honestly, just fish it. Flip it into the gnarliest crap you can, chuck and wind in open water, slow on the bottom like a jig, open pockets in weed beds, the possibilities are endless with this bait. Figure out how your fish like it, they WILL tell you in time . Colors are somewhat water specific, but also kind of irrelevant in alot of situations... I own 8 colors, and most of them have teeth marks...please note the Avatar ;D Also a very stand up company that backs their product! My dads PB and only swimbait fish came on Matt's BB, but I don't get a chance to throw that bait much. Dan is the man for that one!
  13. I have never used a Castaway. I thought I was alone in thinking that TackleTour is a junk website! I saw those guys at a sportsmans expo and everybody was clowning them behind their backs! It was hilarious! I always laugh when somebody uses a TT review as a resource.
  14. Thanks guys! That was quite the experience to say the least! I'm still riding a bit of a high, to tell the truth! KMB, don't you know, we are much more EPIC than squidly, he's never handlined a double digit ;D Hope you are back on the water and gettin after them dude!
  15. Whats the big debate? Skirt up or skirt down, whats the difference...

10" power worms, and I have recently had some success with huge hand poured baits up to 17.5"
  17. I agree with senile. Suffix braid is the best braid I have ever used. I still use 65lb PowerPro on my frog rod because I have a bunch left over. But as soon as my stock pile is gone, the frog rod will get Suffix just like all my other rods that are running braid.
  18. I didn't read that article, but I don't like the diagram. it shows the hook facing down. that is just begging to miss a ton of fish. My method in a nutshell. Tie a palomar knot. I always put the loop in from the point towards the shank when I tie it. Then pass the tag end of 4"-24" back through the eye again from the point towards the shank and pull tight. This will keep the hook always pointed up. I use owner mosquitos in size 1 and 1/0. Use a badukan weight or a bull shot at the desired distance from hook. I use a bunch of baits but any naturally colored worm in the 3.5-6inch range is pretty typical. A natural color is typically some shade or combination of green, brown, or white/silver. If the fish are on shad, go with the white/silver. I use these colors because I typically drop shot in very clear water when the bite is tough. Others can work and can sometimes work better. Allow rig to reach bottom and pull the line tight. You want the weight on the bottom and the bait suspended above it. Keeping the line taught, shake your rod tip for a few seconds then let it sit still on a tight line. If no bite, lift your rod and move the rig a few feet and repeat. When you get bit, just start reeling and give the rod a smooth lift. There is no need to cross their eyes. Hook up percentages for me are well over 90% like this. Have fun, dropshotting is a blast.
  19. Thanks everybody! I spent the last four days high as a kite after that one! I really don't like that picture, makes her look small. I'll get some better ones soon I hope. Dan, somehow I managed to get away without any real bad cuts. Couple little tiny ones, but she had some gnarly teeth and drew blood on my palm and thumb! EDIT: I can't spell.
  20. What a freakin trip dudes!!! My buddy Adam and I made an after work night trip to a lake that I have not been to in awhile. We went Wednesday. We got off work at about 3 and made it to the lake in time to catch a little bit of the evening bite. We both picked up a few 2.5's on jigs before darkness set in. The sun set with the moon already up and nearly full. I top watered until it was as dark as it was gonna get and then picked up the big worm. I was running my 7' Lamiglas 6 power (very heavy stick!) with 65lb braid. First cast I chuck out and wait for my bait to hit bottom. After a couple little pops I get a couple quick, light taps. To me, this usually signifies a small fish, which just tear up these big, expensive baits. So I wait for it to drop the bait. It doesn't, I get one more tap and say screw it. I reeled down until I felt weight and DRILLED her as hard as I could. POW! I am dazed for a split second as I realize that my rod has just snapped off at the handle! I throw the handle and reel down and grab the rest of the rod out of the water. Then I start hand over handing the line. There is no resistance at first, then I catch up with her! After a few hand over hands, braid digging in, she comes up and jumps. She looks good, at least 6lbs. My buddy is soon at hand with the net and after some nerve wracking jumps she finally goes into the web. She's not six, she's not even 8, she's BIG. Now I am somewhere between laughing, yelling, or passing out. I take control of the fish as Adam deals with the giant mess of broken rod and 50ft of tangled up braid. Then he starts gathering up the camera and scale. I've got her in the water, and finally have a chance to check her out. She's good! She might be a double digit! Hang her on the scale and she shoots up to 11lbs 6 ounces!!! But it isn't holding steady. I tare (re-zero) the scale and hang her again 11lbs 4 ounces solid!! SWEET! After dipping back in the water while Adam got the camera. I pose for the first shot. The camera flashes and then Adam says " Memory full" I have a 1gig card for that camera. something is wrong. NO mother flippin card! Forgot it at home! BOOOOOOO! My camera has a small built in memory and I clear the pictures of a 5 that i never got off the camera. He also grabs my back up disposable. We get a few pictures on each camera and she is off back to the depths. carnage I don't have a USB for my camera anymore, and as it turns out they are impossible to find in stores. I even went to Fry's (size of wal mart but only electrronics) and nothing. I found one online but it is not here yet. But I just got the couple pictures off of the disposable and they are OK. I'll update when I get the good ones off of my digital. Thanks Fish Chris for the advice of always having a back up camera. That one has been in my bag for 8months unopened. I was sure glad to have it! Stoked! Double digit on a worm!
  21. Nice pile of fish Dan!
  22. I have said that he will be better than jordan since he was in high school. Dude's a stud.
