  1. Ya got a PM bud!
  2. No fat chicks though Had a great day yesterday. My boss gave me a day off with pay, which never happens, so I thought i would take full advantage. Went with the girlfriend. Had a blast. I swimbaited most of the day and as is typical here had at least 50 fish of ALL sizes follow my bait to the boat. Biggest was only 8 or 9. I did manage to sucker this fish into eating it when I saw her. She went 5-2. My net *wo*man wasn't quite there when I needed her so I swung her in the boat. I love swimbait rods! Swinging 5's is funny stuff! I wormed for a couple of hours and caught ten or fifteen fish. This smallie at 3-3 is the biggest I have a picture of since my computer crash. She ate a 4inch worm on a shaky head. My girl wormed all day without a fish, so at the end of the day I found a male guarding fry and she threw in and got him. Couple quick moments later and he was back on duty! Had a good time, gonna do it again tomorrow!
  3. probably 2-3 ft max. rod postition plays a big part with the slammer. get the 9 like matt said.
  4. Dude I fish a TON of normal stuff. I have just lost confidence in a spinnerbait. Most of the water I fish is extremely clear and I just have a mental block about it. But the Delta or Clearlake I could do it (although I still don't ). A popper is a bait that I don't have real specific parameters for most of the time. The few I have are this: Whitish coloring/red mouth. Good hooks feathered treble. I would sacrifice any of them besides the good hooks! Fish it in 1-15 feet of water unless they are busting shad over deep water. If you find shad getting smashed, get that bait in there and prepare for some SERIOUS fun!
  5. By the way, your signature cracks me up!
  6. The 1/4 will work! As far as the spinnerbaits go, I don't fish them much. But when I do it is either slow and bumping into stuff (bottom, rocks, trees, tulies...etc) or fast, just beneath the surface in shallow water. This time of year in California though, you gotta try a popper! Fun times there!
  7. Without Okuma as an option: Shimano Crucial 7'11" MH Swimbait Curado 300, Calcutta 300, Cardiff 300. That should do you quite nicely! On a slimmer budget: A Heavy action jig/c-rig rod will make do. Hope that helps.
  8. 1. From very slow to as fast as you can crank it. 2. I have had 6 or 7 of em and yes they are!
  9. The only way I'll wear a fishing company's hat is if they give it to me. I'm not paying to advertise FOR them. ;D I'm kind of a hat junky. Wear them to bed, clean them in the shower with shampoo (i know, i know), wear them when...my gf would prefer I didnt . I have over 2 dozen University of North Carolina Hats. Almost all are made by Zephyr. Fitted. Thats my fishin hat of choice! "These are a few of my favorite things" LOL. BTW this thread prompted me to order 2 more ;D
  10. I go for the reaction strike. The fish gets offended Come on you fat b####, I know you are around here somewhere. Come on out and play. Time for a rubber trout snack. Come on fat a##, you're late for a photo shoot. Come on grandma, dinner bell is a ringin. That last until about 5pm, THEN I start prayin
  11. It balances better on rods where sensitivity is critical. I have big hands, palming is not an issue. I throw 8 ounce baits on 8' rods with an 11 ounce reel. The extra couple ounces on the 100B is not a big deal after that. The MG forces my rods to be exrtremely tip heavy, something that I think takes away from detecting bites and the bottom. But I will have that rod balanced (or at least counter weighted) soon. I choose my gear based not upon what market it is intended for, or how much it costs, or as some sad status symbol. I choose my gear based upon what will perform well for my needs.
  12. I have both new chronarchs (100b, 50mg) both awesome reels. I love them both, but I like the 100B a little more. Not 250, but close.
  13. 3:16 Armageddon. Why you gotta call me out > jk
  14. I don't know man, I think I would rather chuck a spook or popper ;D
  15. I kill ALL rattlesnakes on sight. Non venomous snakes are pretty safe around me though. Rattlesnakes would kill me and not eat me, so I make the first move
  16. spooks and poppers, spooks and poppers, and a pointer, staysee, or fluke
  17. Thanks guys! Sorry mods, got a little carried away I guess
  18. All in the eye of the beholder my friend. I sometimes risk life and limb to chase after little river smallies. Its a ton of fun! The little buggers are freakin TOUGH sometimes! Come to think of it, its almost time to go do that again. Be proud of your catch, enjoy your trip, post some pictures. We're all fishin' and its ALL good!
  19. Well to me they ARE big! But if my big bass buddies heard me callin sixes big, I would never hear the end of it LOL!
  20. Knock Knock who's there dents dents who dense..you!!! btw: I LOVE 25lb CXX!!!
  21. Merle Haggard: I think I'll just stay here and drink.
  22. This one was a bedfish, she went 6-3. This picture is pretty much the polar opposite of the Avid shady picture. I think I was about 4 feet from the sun, LOL This one went 6-11 post spawn. First thing in the morning I was throwing a 10 inch bait and she followed it to the boat but didn't eat. I didn't get a real good look at her and thought she was bigger. When the weather broke I changed baits and told my dad that I was gonna go back and get her. 1st cast . When she came up I thought she was bigger because of her mouth. It was fun, she full on ATE IT!
  23. I can get at least 180 feet out of my calcutta's, thats good enough for me. And actually if you pay attention to the "mechanics" of the calcutta and cardiff 400 series, the line guide pawl does in fact travel back and forth on the cast. These are two of the most popular reels for swimbaits.
  24. I'd say one in four out here is probably reasonable. I do agree that it seems like alot of people go "Oh your in CA? Well of course you have some DD's" It aint THAT easy people!!!! Least ways not for me!
