For MegaStrike - I like the original which does not have a scent but does have enzymes and other properties bass are attracted to .

Nice to hear ! *A lot of people get turned off of the Ned Rig because in a number of cases they are using too much weight and too large of a hook in the Ned Head . I have some original gopher head jig heads in #4 and #2 hook sizes with 1/16th oz. weights . I don't think I have been hung up yet with the #4 hook and 1/16th oz. gopher jig head with a small TRD . The trade off is that a large spotted bass or small mouth would need to be played more carefully if you downsize to a #4 hook size in a Ned jig head . I'll have to give the new gopher folks a look - when the original owners disappeared I shifted over to the Siebert Outdoors Morel Midwest finesse jig head with the Owner #1 hook size and that has worked out real well

That 6'8" to 6'10" sure seems like an ideal length for working such baits mentioned (especially jerking down with while standing in a Kayak or from the bank to prevent rod tip slap on water or side of boat) .)

*Goldie Locks length for me (usually just right) ... 3.5" often too short and 4.25" often a little long . A lot of 3.5" trailers have scaled down tails , so that is why I'll work with a 4" trailer as is or cut it down slightly and have a larger tail size . *Again , 4" size used as is OR trim it down a little . This way you only have to keep one size Rage Menace on hand.

You can't go wrong with the 4" Menace : Rig so tail is vertical on a chatterbait - you may also choose to trim 1/4th inch from the head as well to make it 3.75" (ideal trailer length) . Black & Blue Flake , Pearl and Green Pumpkin Menace trailer colors and you are set .

Dobyns Sierra 734c. This is a very versatile bait casting rod which can be used for a variety of applications .

Sunline Sniper #7 lb. and InvizX #6 lb. are both under .010mm , so casting should be about as good as it gets on a spinning reel .

Whether it be for drop shot , shaky head , finesse swim bait , or wacky worm - what is your current favorite #6lb. to #8lb. FC line for a 2500 / 3000 size spinning reel ? *I'm a braid + FC leader guy for spinning reel applications , however I do see potential for smaller diameter ( .010mm line diameter or under) straight FC line for spinning reels . Tatsu is a bit expensive , so my focus is in that "next tier" of FC lines below Tatsu such as Berkley Trilene 100% FC , InvizX , P-Line , Yo Zuri and possibly a few others I may have missed that handle well , don't turn "milky" in color , have low stretch and decent abrasion resistance.. I'll use mono backing on the reel first and then a top shot of say 75 yards of the FC line on top. Lastly , KVD line conditioner is on deck to use if need be . Thanks in advance for replies - hopefully I am not asking for too much .

I use a Sierra 735 for frogs , most people would probably like a Champ 735 for frogs better - but I have very fast reflexes and the slightly softer tip with slightly more parabolic bend of the Sierra series helps me not ****** the frog away from bass using no stretch braid .

PB came from a Chartreuse / White Booyah Spinner Bait ( 1/4 oz. Willow / Colorado tandem blades) : Normally I'd be throwing a 3/8th oz. model on a bait caster but that day I used the above spinnerbait on a spinning rod set up in a small lake cove blind casting across spawning beds I knew were there. That's when "Juanita" decided she wasn't up for critters being reeled through her living room and pounced . I thought I hung a log as average bass size for this small body of water was only 1 ~ 2 lbs.

Great crawfish poster ! Green Pumpkin , GP Red , Okeechobee Craw and Alabama Craw would about handle the craw colors for soft plastics in the South.

*I believe it would be worth trying Ned Head jigs rigged as if they were mini - shaky heads (i.e. rig soft plastic at an angle then bury that hook point back into the soft plastic) again , like a mini - shaky head . You should hang up less ...

^^This^^ ... Garlic is my confidence scent for bass and storing garlic scented worm bags in heavier freezer bags (or similar) works .

*You can try to use the Ned Jig Head like a compact shaky head jig by burying the hook inside the soft plastic (again , like rigging a finesse worm on a shaky head) . Use a drop of super glue to finish the deal .

If I could only use one hook , it would probably be a Owner 5313 Size #1 in a MidWest Finesse (Ned) jig head as it is real nice over all . The Eagle Claw 500BP 'Lil Nasty in a size #2 can also work pretty well (although less stout than the Owner 5313) .

Besides being more weedless than a typical bladed jig (i.e. chatter bait) - what goes into your selection thought process as to when you might select a bladed jig over a swim jig and vice versa ? I've read where water temperature is a key deciding factor along with water clarity as to when to select each however I recognize there may be more that goes into it than that . What are your deciding factors as to when you select either a bladed jig OR a swim jig ?

U40 from TW has worked well .

I will stay with right-handed bait cast reels and learn to pitch the rod with my left hand - I have enough bait cast reels already as it is (lol) !

What about a FC coated line like Yozuri Hybrid or Berkley Fluoroshield ? Enough transparency with added stretch for sure .

Popular as a swim jig and chatterbait trailer . For chatterbaits , I like a non-paddle tail Zako better .
