  1. I like 7:1 on a crankbait I can slow down and still pick up line need on top and when using a jerkbait
  2. Best money I have ever spent!! I took measurements, I picked up 50 feet on my cast of my spinnerbait rod... Denali Kovert MH 7'2" . Is a jig rod but I like it for spinnerbaits. Made my Shimano Caenan go from great to sick! What I did notice is how much smoother, less backlashes and when I did backlash they are way easier to get out. I am new to bait casters, only 2 years into using them and this just made my life so much easier!
  3. If I was gonna keep it I think I wou go get aluminum deck welded in
  4. Your gonna get looks... Which is good? Cuz it's not about what you drive it about what you weigh in ! Your gonna be odd man out, the non normal..... But that's good cuz when you do good your going to be remembered! Being different rocks! Run what ya brung and then bring it the big fish fish to the scales! Tight lines buddy!
  5. 91 bass cat pantera 2 w/200 V-pro .. 52 gal, 120 miles tops, and I would be on fumes. 180.00 to fill if I ran it hard on a tournament day. If not could squeeze 160 off both tanks.
  6. They are supposed to be super stable boats. They have great rep for stable and shallow running. I have considered a bay cat for myself but I don't like the no closed and lockable storage.
  7. Lews has excellent customer service I will brag on them all day! I hear you have to buy there tournament series and up .... Like DVT said 125 and above is pretty good stuff. I think as said above it starts to come down to small things that you like more or less.
  8. I live here in there about 6 miles from the the plant... Yes! Rick is signed in to a long term deal. Now don't know all the details, but my next new boat was to be a cat as I am BCB guy. So I have been digging deep! It sounds as not much has or is to change, rick will still see things as he has run it as normal. That has been my understanding so far. If I get anything different I will pass it along. I know a few folks at BCB including Rick, so I am trying to get info before I invest in a product after this change. As long as Rick is around I don't expect anything different from them. Only time will us.
  9. Looks really good! congratulations nothing like new foam for the butt and back!
  10. I was saddened by the news.... I live just 6 miles from the plant, I know some of the folks, I have seen that place grow, same with ranger and Legend. I seen legend from its start, now on there 3 building and a nice place. Now hearing this after hear Ranger sell out again... I am glad they are not moving for now, I hope it stays that way, but I sure hope BCB doesn't change and go down the tubes like Rager did in customer service. Ranger used to be so nice, now when you call them they are so rude. I hate that. But times change nothing stays the same forever.... I wish them all the best of luck, I hope BPS does great things with ranger and I hope this new venture for BCB is a wonderful thing I the end!
  11. I'm always going longest shaft I can rather have more than not enough in waves... Longer the better unless you're a fair weather fisherman... Lol Everyone I know runs motor guide ... I'm going to try a minnkota I have a motor guide now and it's a good motor, but I would like to have the new ulterra, I fish by myself and with small kids so I launch by myself a lot... And I like the anchor feature for crappie fishing and with kids that nice to not lose the spot while heling them I don't care what boat you have, minimum trolling motor I would have anymore would be 80#! No more messing with the wind or fighting ! Go were you want when you want! Bluebasser86 I had a 46# MG ON MY BCB PII, 19'.... I was 12v I had 2 batt wired up in series and now granted I had group 27 w/ 200 min reserve on main and 140 on second with a total 275 mah. So if your gonna run 12v just run two large batteries with plenty of output and make sure you have good heavy wiring, I choose to run stereo power and ground in 2 ga or 1/0 as main from batt to motor plug. And then just be sure you have good clean connections.
  12. I will tell you pass! I will almost surely bet 1000:1 the transom is bad. Unless you have a good glassman to look at it don't risk it! Getting the tea some done correctly will set you back 5-6k. I have friends that work for some of the bass boat companies here in north Ar, I have one that is the master glassman for a top company and he is my go to... You have no idea how many boats I thought had a good transoceanic and when I took to him he identified problems with in 30 sec of see it. And I'm talking nice boats. Buyer beware is all I'm saying... bust out another thousand
  13. Both are good brands, I think you coming down more to a layout thing... Best thing you can do is go sit in them.. Take a rod and a plug and go toss a plug.. See if they will let you take for a test ride. All my local dealers will. I take a rod, we go for a ride and I fish a bit, mostly casting not really fishing, does it work, is things in a good place, easy to move around in ect... All things you must consider. What I like or think is great you may hate! I don't like consoles, so I like a tiller or stick, but sticks have limited rod and tackle storage. I have injuries from lower back to my feet so a lot of up and down around consoles is hard for me. So I am going tiller... Once you own a boat or 2 you figure out really quick what works and doesn't or fishing with a buddy. I hope this helps you some
  14. No shame sir, we all gotta learn it some how!
  15. I wanted to , but seemed for the price power pro was a better option.. So I ever did. I am using fire line for my crappie fishing this year. Just spoled up so we will see how it works
  16. Crank baits, Texas rigs, don't list to what pros say, find what works for you.... I had a 5:4:1 reel hated it, I run 6:4-7:1 reels and mostly 7:1, I can always slow down but speeding up will wear you out! Do what feels good brother, if it works use it...
  17. I have last years model, it's a very nice reel, but Cabela's is having a sale on Chronarch's 159, and I got one, even nicer.... If you can get one I will tell you step up and get it while on sale as it's cheaper the the Curado while on sale, then call hawg tech and get a pair of ceramic bearings for it. It cast well out of the box, but I will never have a reel that I don't upgrade bearings in! My Canean is as good as my Curado and chronarch with bearings in it now and it was 89.99
  18. Dwight I will agree, they seem like great guys! I am glad I choose to do business with them!
  19. What you are asking is nothing to worry about... Time will pass, you will loosen it and even if you kept it cranked down, the wear your talking about will be minimal to the gearing... Now the wear to the break is a whole different story. You find over a year or two of fishing you replace the disk as you have worn through it. Like said above the wear from baits like 10xd's, a-rigs, mine wieght 3.5-4.5 oz sometimes will do more harm then spool knob tension.
  20. I use Seagur read lable flouro for my trout line, 6# when I fish the white river here in North Ar. No problems... Trout rods are limber enough that you can step up, but trout are line shy enough as it is.... If the are super finicky I'll go to a 4# leader... Here is a 6# on 4# flouro....
  21. I prefer centrifugal over magnetic. Once adjusted correctly they are soo nice... Have both that sounds like it maybe too good to be true! Lol I like to more control on the front and less on the back side of the cast... But you can't really fine tune with a duel like that. DVT YOU ARE SOOOOOOO RIGHT, I could have save so much on line if had that advise the first 3 months learning to cast!
  22. I have all 3 reg size, macro, and micro... I like macro, micro I love. I notice I cast more accurately, and I feel more. I fish duckett's ghost rods, a Denalli Kover [macro] is pretty sensitive, but not as much as my duckett. All my regular size guide rods have been replaced except for my a-rig rod
  23. Guys I just have to say how pleased I am with Hawg Tech! They were great from answer all my questions, to ordering, fast shipping and a superior product! This was my first order from them, and wow what a shock, I was not expecting there bearings to really perform like the video.... But what's craz is one of my reels out performed there reel, and it was a reel of 1/2 the price! Tell me how sick is that! I have been playing and have noticed less backlashes as the reel is smoother. I am kinda new, only been using baitcasters about 2 years, and I will say I am no KVD! Most days are off days.. Lol but it seems things are gonna be looking up now! Thanks Hawgtech! Thanks Bass Resource for all the info! Thanks to all the folks on here the post! God Bless!
  24. I started out with 2 lew's and cut my teeth on them 2 years ago. A year after they started get tight. I sent them back, the called me, I explained my dealer/tackle shop had told me to oil the gear box port.... They said NO, never do that.... They fixed and sent back. By the way I am not here to bash Lews, they were great to me. There customer service is awesome! They told me to clean and lube every month, a little much for me, so I did about every 3 mo. A year later back to the same thing, tight all over. Cleaned, and I mean full strip and degrease and clean, set over night and dry and carefully re-lube and re-assemble.... Better but not awesome... I got rid of them... They were the SS1. I am a Shimano guy, all my spinning stuff is Shimano, most of my bait casters are Shimano, rest are Abu's. I perfer Shimano's. They feel, the fit in my hand, they seem to cast better. I want all know lews stepped up, they did what they said and fixed under warranty, and even fixed something they did not have to. A problem that I created, I was new to casting reels and that was my fault. But they stepped up. So I Give them kudos for taking care of me, as they did not have to. Lews is a good company I think. I think maybe I had bad luck. For me I would not be a fraud to buy a Lews but I would step up to the tournament series reels. For me I just prefer Shimano's.
