i've never tried a c-rig on a M rod, but that's not to say it won't work. try it and see how it works for you. one thing that might help would be to use braided line for your main line, use good sharp hooks, and maybe use slimmer baits to help in getting a good hookset.

i totally agree. fishing with upper end stuff is great. it spoils you. (i won't say high end b/c i only consider 2 reels of my 6-7 high end, but my other stuff is good stuff) i have friends that joke and think i'm dumb for spending as much on my stuff as i do. my combos range from $150-$450 or so. my friends do not listen when i tell them my reasons for spending as much as i do. my main reasons are 1) i mostly fish plastics/jigs and want sensitive rods 2)i spend 150-200 on a reel and it lasts me years, they spend 30-50 and get a new one every year b/c something breaks....as much as i fish, low end stuff will not hold up 3)better stuff just makes it more fun and less work

anybody ever order anything from this sight? is it dependable?

thanks, i have a pack of the blue glimmer, and hadn't opened them until you replied, and they do seem a little stiffer than the other pack i have, whatever the shad color is called, half gray/smoke and the other half white.

i tried out my first rage shad's the other day and they killed. i was reading another post about a problem another member was having with a pack and Big O said something about certain colors being harder or more durable than others. i didn't want to hijack the other thread, but i wanted to ask Big O which colors were the most durable or a list of how durable certain colors are. thanks in advance.

i do not need another rod/reel but i just want one. and the only thing i am not really set up to do is throw some swimbaits. i will not be throwing large swimbaits. mostly the hollow bodied/tube swimbaits like the bass magic/money minnow. and maybe some other soft plastic swimbaits up to maybe 5" like the mattshad or the mattlures baby bass. what kind of setup to you guys suggest for this. i was thinking something like a 7' Heavy/fast rod, since i won't be throwing large swimbaits i do not think i need a rod much over 7' and definitely nothing over 8' i think i have the reel already, i have a calcuttta 200 that is a few years old that holds enough line, and i think the slow gear ration will help these types of baits swim better. thanks in advance.

i would have to agree with the majority here too and say the 50 mg. the other 2 are great reels but seem to be a little much on the MF stick. you won't be able to benefit from the super drag of the STX and the zillion seems a bit big and heavy for a medium stick and the baits you throw with one.....50 mg and 10-12# line on that rod will be one sweet combo.

are you guys swimming them or what? i have had pretty good luck pitching them in and around cover and on c-rigs. if you are swimming them how do you rig it? weightless, small weight? heavy weight? jighead?

i have caught tons of fish on lizards and have never seen a lizard or salamander in any of the water i fish. maybe it brings out instinct in the fish....maybe it just looks like something to eat. all i know is they work.

i like their lizards and flippin craws. they have a great action and last a long time. my local academy had them on clearance for $.88 last summer and i bought 20+ packs

wow i don't know what you can be doing wrong to not be setting the hook.... the reason i started wacky rigging was because my sister wouldn't ever set the hook hard enough to get a hookup when t-rigging them..... maybe you are yanking it out of their mouths....i use those same hooks...well the non weedless version. and all i really do is reel up the slack and sort of lift up my rod tip. i don't really give it a snap, just a "quick" pick up from 3 o'clock to 12 o'clock, kind of like a hook set when panfishing w/ bait. i don't know if that makes any sense or not.... :-?

yes any rod can snap, and most of the time when a rod snaps there was some kind of damage to the blank. either a nick or just a bad spot in the graphite. i have heard from a rod company (that makes higher end rods) that most of the time when a rod snaps on the hookset it is usually a smaller fish that does it. he said that a larger fish will load up the rod better on a hard hookset. and sometimes on a smaller fish when you set the hook, the rod will not load all the way and the tip will "snap" back into place causing the break. not saying that you will break a rod on every small fish you catch, but it made sense to me.

12-15 # pline cxx on my casting reels. i use 15# for pithing in fairly heavy cover, (not matted grass or heavy timber), in an around reeds/grass. on my spinning reels i use some stren extra strength 8#. i like it. it is one of my favorite lines ever. although it is somewhat hard to find. some complain that CXX has too much memory....but it is super strong and tough....it doesn't play around. i have never broken off on a fish and if you hang up in a tree/rock it isn't easy to break at all

good post SC. maybe it does simplify it for him. and KVD will pass him up as the greatest of all time. (might already have) i read in a magazine (not sure which one) but RC said that he likes to use a stiffer rod so that his crankbait hooks penetrate better than most. he also said he sets the hook harder than most on treble hook baits. i don't know, i don't think i would like that....but to each his own.

i do alot of fishing on 1/8 oz sinkers. 6-7" worms, lizards, smaller craws, small creature baits. i really like using this small of a weight when the wind is light

some people just like to keep stuff looking new. i'm kind of weird about this type of thing.....i am anal about keeping my reels clean looking and not scratched. but my rods....i like the black on the cork....makes it look like it's caught a bunch of fish.

not trying to hijack this thread...but do you have problems w/ the rubber material melting in your boxes?? i know older rubber skirts that came on some spinnerbaits melted pretty easily.

zoom makes tons of great baits. their lizards, trick worms, brush hogs, super hogs, speed craws, speed worms, super speed craws, super flukes, u-tail worms.....all awesome

i love speed craws. i use them as jig trailers, t-rigged for casting and pitching. and they also work great on c-rigs

hmmm.... my most sensitive/lightest combo is a 50 mg on a rod i built on an all star titanium blank my most used is my 7' heavy falcon cara with a curado 7:1
