That's a TON of water, the current will be insane. You may need to retrofit a 150hp onto your yak!

Got out this morning on the home gravel pit from 10 to noon. Sunny conditions with a south wind. Caught 6 largemouths on a pointer 78DD, 3 smallies on a neko rig, and 2 more LM on a jig. Thought it was interesting that the LMs were reacting to the jerk/jigs, but not the smallies. They would only pick up a neko after letting it sit still for at least 20 seconds. @OddChase and @IndianaFinesse - have you two started throwing a ned or skirted ned yet?

I noticed that most of those lucky crafts were either silent or over/under sized, which was a good thing considering my lucky craft addiction. I was cracking up at Wheeler during his seminars. He'd cast down to the end of that tank and 1 second later he'd interrupt himself with a "DANG" bc he wanted to set the hook. Hilarious! That dude genuinely loves fishing!

Unless you're a fan of Skeet Reese rods (3 for $100), there just are not many excellent deals going on. There's a small booth there selling nothing but JDM stuff that made my day though. There's another booth selling visions 5 for $100 which is like buy 4 get 1 free. A2O has a bunch of PH custom balsa lures, including a new model similar to a whopper plopper but with a metal blade. You can probably expect to see better deals next weekend since it's the end of the show. Hey at least you got out and tried! river or lake? I bought the 2 day ticket so I'll go back one day next weekend

I've put in there before, it's down past the dam. When you find the submerged bridges very close to that ramp, throw an A-rig across them at first light and hold on. The 145 bridge area can be really good post-spawn, but for pre-spawn make sure you have a flippin stick out to fish some of the shallow timber cove fingers with a creek running in the back.

By the time I get home from work, there's only an hour of daylight left but I've still managed to catch a handful in that hour on a swim jig, rico, and pointers. The slender pointer mr 112 and the flash pointer sp 115 just wreck them this time of year. Looking forward to next week when I'll be able to get on the water while the sun is high. Water temps are steadily dropping, 48 on Monday to 42 on Thursday. Saturday's rain may bring those temps up a bit.

Got out tonight from 430 to 6 and mannnnnnn it was tough. Water temp was 55-56, but with the N winds the air temp felt cold AF. Clarity was at least 10' and we couldn't figure out any kind of pattern. Humminbird was showing a crazy looking thermocline at 6' on most of the lake. My guess is the lake just turned over. Managed 2 on a gunfish behind a front runner in open water, 1 on a swim jig off a dock, and my buddy got 1 on a jerkbait right at the boat. Brutal for this time of year.

Great weekend for fishing. On Sunday me and a buddy located a school back in a cove and started playing "who gets their lure back to the boat first without a fish." You gotta love that game. We caught them on whopper p's, gunfish, and buzzbaits, but the big girls were choking on swim jigs. Kept looking at radar and finally left around 2, right b4 the storms hit. I agree with @The Bassman, were not done yet. I usually fish through thanksgiving, and this year with the late fall I could easily see fishing into the first or second week of December.

jerkbait, swim jig with a keitech trailer, buzzbait, spook, popper, squarebills, spinnerbait, glide baits, and anything else that looks like a shad or baitfish you too? Living on a lake definitely has its advantages! Will be on the home lake all day Saturday on the pontoon then taking the nitro to Geist on Sunday

Using the tree as your anchor was an extremely creative boat control technique. Props on that. Anytime you can catch fish on every cast is an awesome day, no matter what species you're targeting. I'm hoping the bass bite picks up soon, as temps are forecasted to drop and wind is forecasted to pick up this week and next. I'm really looking forward to when falling water temps cause bass to follow shad into coves/shallows, overcast skies, and a 10mph SW wind. Swim jig and topwater season will be here soon.

I had the same kind of day last Friday on Geist, except it was 37 fish (both LM and white bass) in 90 minutes. Biggest was a 4, most LM were 2-3 pounders. Went back Sunday and caught 4 in 6 hours I've seen boats stored on storage unit lots, but personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable keeping my boat anywhere but at my house. If it wasn't an option at my current house, I'd look into moving. Just sayin

good looking fish, @frosty they look almost as dark as FL strain LM

i hear ya. thanks to your question, i think the answer depends on several variables: - depth and available real estate above thermocline that bass can relate to - available food sources (shad population, bluegills, crayfish, baitfish, etc...) - available oxygen (the greener the grass, the more O2 it produces) - size of bass within bass population (a lake may be able support a population 200 1-pounders, but not 200 5-pounders)

Got out last night and they were hitting a crank and a rico popper. unfortunately one of my crank trebles went right thru a fishes eyeball and by the time I got it to the boat, the eye and optic nerve behind it were fully pulled out of the fish's head still on the treble. The fish was bleeding really badly out his eye socket and from behind his gills. I didn't feel that the fish could recover from this so I made a judgement call to severe it's spinal cord to quickly end it's life. I felt it was the most humane way to deal with the situation. For the record, I HATE killing fish and felt horrible about needing to do that. I didn't want that death to be for nothing, so I broke out my fillet knife right there on the boat, put the fillets in a ziplock bag and then into an iced cooler. That fish ended my fishing and I went home, fired up the grill, and ate grilled bass for dinner. TBH, I still feel horrible about that situation. My lake karma is so negative now that I probably wont catch another keeper until 2019. What would you have done in that situation?

The Geist Tuesday night tournament pays out roughly the top 10% of boats. In the spring that's usually top 7 plus big bass. Like @Team9nine said, on Geist it will take 18#+ in the spring to win. Usually if you get 15-16# you'll be cashing out. Big bass is usually between 5 and 7#. I stop fishing the tourneys in June (i struggle fishing deep) so I cant really say how much it takes to win in summer. This website tracks all upcoming tournaments in the state. If you click on one of the tournaments, it will bring up that tournament trail's website. From there you can then view tournament results from any lake any date. I remember that day. I was fun fishing on Geist that Saturday and it was awful for everything except white bass
