  1. I have that same problem. It's cost me quite a bit of money over the years.
  2. Don't do that! I don't think daiwa will warranty a lews reel! Lol
  3. I just got a 7' medium spinning avid x. The blank seems identical to my regular avid 7' medium. Guides and handle are different. I like it so far.
  4. So what you are saying is you have to have your spool tension knob tightened so much in order to cast without a backlash that its causing resistance while reeling?
  5. Too much line on the spool maybe rubbing somewhere?
  6. I find it to have more stretch than most mono. It's strong though.
  7. you replaced the word "dial" that I used with "cap". I never said cast control cap. I was referring to the dial that controls the magnets. Both components are part of the cast control.
  8. Uhhhh. No the cast control is the dial that turns the magnets up or down. Spool tension knob is on the other side.Op said when he goes to low he is having backlashes. Just thought maybe he was turning the dial down instead of loosening the spool tension.
  9. I've never had problems with daiwa customer service. I've never had an issue getting parts for discontinued reels, can't say that about shimano. Shimano is the only reel company who has hassled me about warranting a new ebay reel. Daiwa has fixed a few reels for me for free even after I told them I bought them used.
  10. Loosen the spool tension knob, not the cast control dial.
  11. I've never worried about cleaning my cork handles. I just give them a good coating of fish slime every once in a while.
  12. I'm most exited about the trion. Those reels are freaking tanks! I've beat the crap out of one for over five years and it's still going strong. I'll probably just sell the citicas. Never liked the one's I had, the gears get rough quick.
  13. This walmart has about the worst outdoors department I've ever seen. The guy said these reels were there since they opened. They never even had them on display where they could be seen. They were just piled up in the bottom of one of those tall glass display cases.
  14. What about one of those lindy worm blower bottles?
  15. Thanks for the replies. I ended up stopping on my way to work and buying it. That old daiwa box caught my eye from a mile away when I first saw it yesterday. While I was there today I also bought two citica e's for 65 bucks and a older trion casting reel for 45 bucks. I'm going back later and see if they found any other reels and put them on clearance.
  16. Check sewing machine shops or watch shops.
  17. My walmart has one of these new in the box for 45 bucks. They must have found it in the bottom of a display case or something. It's a daiwa procaster rojo 100h. I don't remember seeing these reels when they were new. It looks to be 6 or 7 years old. So what do you guys think? Should I buy it for 45 bucks?
  18. I always get a kick out of people saying that shimanos bearings are so superior to the bearings in cheaper reels. So reels with a higher number count of bearings must use junk bearings. The ONLY bearings I've ever had fail were in shimano reels and a few daiwa line roller bearings. Having said that I would rather have a one stradic over ten of those Tokushima reels.
  19. I use the mini craftsman wire cutters. They work great for braid to. When they get dull I can just exchange them for a new pair.
  20. I've always liked bigger spinning reels. Pflueger 35,shimano 4000, Daiwa 3000. I like my fuego 3000 and ci4+4000 the best. More cranking power and casting distance. They are both fairly light for their size. I guess it comes down to what you feel comfortable using because that's what really matters.
  21. White skirt, silver blade.
  22. That's hard to answer. I've had good luck and bad. Check the sellers feedback and buy from a reputable seller. Be aware that even if you buy a new reel on ebay doesn't mean it's still under factory warranty. I read on another forum where bantam 1 said none of the shimano reels sold on ebay are covered under the factory warranty, even if they are new.
  23. Green pumpkin zoom finesse worm, or a jig n pig.
  24. Buzzbait for sure.
