Pork Bait Fluid
So I finally got around to buying some Uncle Josh pork trailers and hair jigs for cold water (actually I ended up getting Kalins and PJ's maribou jigs, hope they work the same). The pork is new old stock of course and the liquid it's stored in is very, very oily. For those of you who have used pork for years (not me) is this normal? Do you change the liquid with something easier to handle? Salt water maybe? Or just deal with the oil? Side note: Am I right in thinking that these pork trailers have been discontiued for years? Only place I could find them was Ebay at $12/bottle. Why would Uncle Josh have stopped making them and why hasn't someone picked up making them again?

Cold Water Cranking (Big Bag!)
Nice job ETS! Do you mind me asking what color wart; and if it was a pre or post wart? I have a few pre-rapala warts but am ascared to throw em.

How far do you guys go to fish?
I'm blessed here in Maine with water everywhere. Countless ponds all within 1.5 hr drive and obviously tons more farther out. I typically stay within 1 hr drive though.

**The Official 2018 Ice-Out Thread**
Just got in from doing the driveway and now off to work. Yes, another 12-14" between yesterday and last night, with another 2-3 coming during the day. 3rd big blast Mother has given us in the last 2 weeks. Well, with my glass half full, at least our lakes will be full this spring. Hope everyone in the Northeast is well. And everyone else for that matter. Now, I gotta go visit the Fishing Reports section...

Hair jigs for early spring bass
@WRB Tom, what pork trailers do you like? And in black if I remember you saying that? Would any of these work? Not a lot of black out there but a brown would look nice on a black jig. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Uncle-Josh-Pork-NO-101-Spin-Tail-Frog-5-baits-1-7-8-x-3-4/183083908209?hash=item2aa0a6bc71:g:PNwAAOSwM91afR2m https://www.ebay.com/itm/Uncle-Josh-Pork-NO-101-Spin-Tail-Frog-5-baits-1-7-8-x-3-4-BLK-GRL/173149929024?hash=item28508a3e40:g:3BQAAOSwoFVafR4R https://www.ebay.com/itm/Uncle-Josh-Pork-TT11-Tennessee-Trailer-4-Baits-2-5-x-1-Black-Blue/173198810545?hash=item2853741db1:g:BCYAAOSwkwBanqNQ https://www.ebay.com/itm/uncle-josh-pork-rind-baits-100-available-Six-Colors-See-Description/302661501540?hash=item4678080264:g:08wAAOSwB3BaMcoM https://www.ebay.com/itm/Discontinued-UNCLE-JOSH-MiniFrog-Trailer-CR-BRN-Pork-Bait-18-AA-50-GL/162905061362?hash=item25ede5f7f2:g:hQ0AAOSwIBJahtTv https://www.ebay.com/itm/11-Uncle-Josh-Pork-Rind-BLACK/302607473769?hash=item4674cf9c69:g:~1EAAOSwz7Nae9Yc https://www.ebay.com/itm/Uncle-Josh-Pork-Rind-33/302418042244?hash=item4669851d84:g:cfQAAOSwIINZ1w49 Actually there are many more now that I look. That #33 little craw looks enticing! And what 1/8 jig do you like? I really wanna get set up before ice-out this year and try these!! Thank you EDIT: Something like a Kalins Marabou or PJ's Marabou?

**The Official 2018 Ice-Out Thread**
Geeeeze, we were lookin really good for a while there. Snow is disappearing, temps hitting high 40's low 50's, main river through town is wide open, lakes around me turning dark with some smaller ponds with holes in them; now.....12-18" coming in tomorrow night and into Thursday. I know it won't last long and I still think we are in for an earlier than normal ice-out but still; dat mental part

Deep Crankin Rod
^^^Looks like just what I was thinking of! Should work well. thx

Deep Crankin Rod
I'm starting to think I need a rod for deep cranks. I would be throwing DD22, Dredgers etc... in 16-22 fow. Baits could go up to 1.5 to 2oz or so. So do I want a composite rod? I'm thinking a long stick too; maybe 7-6 to 7-11 area. And what could that same rod double as? Heavy glides? 130 Ploppers? And I would not want micro-guides nor spend over $150. I would be using a Revo S 6.4 Thoughts? Anyone have something they would want to part with?

You know you are obsessed with fishing
You know you are obsessed when you use braid as dental floss....

**The Official 2018 Ice-Out Thread**
I'm in southern Maine and although we've been warming slightly into the mid 40's here (downright balmy) we are still a ways away; I'm just hopeful! So lets hear it folks! Who's getting close? Who's still socked in? Who's dark and slushy? And I guess we could even hear from those who are already out....
-
Whopper plopper. . .why the hype??
This 6-8 was on a bone 130 on a day where that bait caught that fish, a 6-3, 3 5's and a couple 4's
- New PB!
- Leader for braid? Or not?
-
Red?
In the fall, a red craw lipless is money; absolute money

Shine Glide
Thanks for the info so far! What temps do you find these baits most effective?
-
Shine Glide
So I want to start throwing a glide more. I have 1 trout pattern glide but, of course, I need a couple few more. @Bluebasser86 mentioned he liked the Savage Gear Shine Glide and I was wondering what most people throw between the 5.25" and the 7.25" ? And colors? I'm in Maine and we don't have shad up here so I was looking at the Hitch. Thoughts?
