  1. Good tips above^^^ And definitely have good ventilation/fan/air flow; and wear a dust mask. Also please protect your eyes with some good safety glasses.
  2. I just got one of these for my yak as well; can't go wrong with this unit. Great reviews/features at a reasonable price
  3. Does braid with a fluoro leader count? 15lb braid to 10-15lb leader will cover anything
  4. Don't you guys remember Schooled by Denny Brauer?? Man would he chastise his "students" when they grabbed the line! lol loved that show; learned a lot from it Like said above, I'll steer/guide the fish with my hand sliding on the line but I typically don't like to grab the line. I always hear Denny in my head yelling at me.
  5. A few off the top would be stroking a jig And I'll always remember KVD saying he never just brings a spinnerbait back on a straight retrieve; there's always a pause of the handle, a quick turn of the handle; anything to break up the retrieve. And one last thing, and not really anything different, but a lot of pros say that most guys overfish a dropshot. And I find myself getting more bites on a DS when I just let it sit and let the water move the bait.
  6. Absolutely! Try and remember how long the pause was, depth and time of day. Just duplicate that and you should be golden Pony Boy
  7. Great day! 55F....pffffttt....I'd be in shorts and a tank top
  8. I fish that area they were in often. Tons of really good water in that area; I mean a ton of lakes/ponds. It's called Waterville for a reason
  9. Nice job bud!
  10. One of my favorite catches of all time!
  11. I'd love to see that happen!
  12. Yeah, I wanted the 3.8" but it only comes in 3/4; which I didn't want The 3/8 and 1/2 come in 3" but that does seem kind of small. Oh well, we'll try it!
  13. I stop fishing when the water is too hard to launch
  14. As others have said, no need for a weight; they cast great. A weight will definitely alter the whole fall of a senko; and usually not for the better. The senko's attraction is its shimmy on the fall. Adding a weight will turn that presentation into a Neko rig anyway.
  15. Who's tried this bait? Is it as good as all the reviews say? Is it this year's TRD? I just ordered 2 in 3/8 and 2 in 1/2...can't respell the colors lol All in 3" Discuss
  16. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/online-catalogs?catalogCode=BassPro/SFC_19_75_tab Order away!! Edit: From here: https://www.basspro.com/shop/en You can scroll down and click in the blue box "2019 Spring Fishing Classic" Then select your store in the red line; this will give you your local store's flyer with local events
  17. Jerkbaits, blade baits, lipless cranks, jigs
  18. Odd; I've always been, and always will be, a Bill Lewis guy. 2 falls ago, I was out for one of our last days and just brutilizing 'em with a red craw trap on rock piles. I go to cast, get a line pinch, a nick in my leader snaps, my last trap goes flying 1/4 mile. After kicking, screaming and crying like a baby for 17 minutes, I regain my composure, dig around the boat, find a red craw RES and think, "well, everyone says these are great"; I was wrong. The bite dropped to a fraction of what I had with an original trap. Hey, if it works for you, have at em. I'll stick to a Bill Lewis trap
  19. The Plus just adds the Quickdraw Map feature. But for $20 to add the larger screen and sideview...? Obvious I'm upgrading both of my units this winter and went with a 5cv at the bow and a 9sv plus at the console. Can't wait for open water now!
  20. I've always wondered this as well. What I can tell you, from turning over rocks, fish puke etc... is most of the craws I see are "green pumpkin" colored. Sometimes they will have mottled orange mixed in.
  21. https://wgme.com/news/local/maine-drivers-arent-just-wicked-bad-theyre-apparently-the-worst-study-says You take your life in your hands every trip out
  22. Just to throw in some convo
  23. I know that feel! Best of luck to the 'Ol USS Native! And I'd love to hear about anyone going fishing right now...
