  1. I took mine to my town dump and put it on the scales. The guy was happy to do it. That way you get an accurate weight with full tank and all your gear. He had me drive up on the pad, unhook the truck and drive off, then rehook and go.
  2. Happy T-Day my friends!
  3. Thinking of you today my friend. Hope you are getting back to yourself.
  4. I always like these https://www.google.com/search?biw=1600&bih=764&tbm=vid&ei=HjTXXbW4JcWC5wK16Y0w&q=underwater+bass+strikes&oq=underwater+bass&gs_l=psy-ab.1.3.0l10.8238.10636.0.15075.15.12.0.3.3.0.203.1508.0j8j2.10.0....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..2.13.1516...0i273k1j0i131k1.0.zRrQzhz4rLQ Hope you get well soon!
  5. That place is on my bucket list!! I've gotta find a way to get there!
  6. Great trip man! Who's the guy that looks like Adam Sandler??
  7. How safe do you gys think Mexico is right now? Baccarac is on my bucket but, man, not sure I want to get confused with someone else down there....
  8. I've been in this situation myself. I think it comes down to too much natural food; it's hard to imitate natural. Just so much food for them your bait gets lost in the cloud. Maybe a spinnerbait, a fluke on an underspin or a small swimbait on a ball head.
  9. The argument for a larger bait when water is cold comes from the thought that a larger, lethargic bass, in the effort to conserve energy and be efficient, would rather eat one large slow moving meal than try to chase down many smaller meals. Personally, I think that can change on a day to day basis. So, our old attige of "let the fish tell you" still applies.
  10. Try a small swimbait on a ball head jig, like a 2-3 inch white or smoke colored swimbait. Lipless crankbaits of different colors. Suspending jerkbaits One of those 3 will get you bit.
  11. So I like the grip on the Clarus and HMX the best. Which do you think is the better rod? If there even is a difference. Price is the same and fit my needs and budget so either will do fine I would imagine.
  12. I have another Clarus drop shot rod; not familiar with the Exage. Is the Exage a better line?
  13. Actually, the Shimano Clarus fits all of my wants...and at $80, I may have found it.
  14. I have a need/want/hankerin for a new jig rod. My current rod is a Skeet Reese jig/worm rod. I'm not too keen on it for a couple of reasons. First, I don't like micro-guides; second, years ago I saw a tip from Gary Klein that he likes to hold the fore-grip with the line running over his finger to detect bites. I started doing this and love it (don't try it! You'll never go back to palming a reel with bottom baits!) I have better feel and better hookset with this hand position. Anyway, the Reese rod does not have a fore-grip; just the threaded nut to lock the reel down. So, some of my "must have" features are: ---fore-grip ---prefer cork but foam will do ---7' to 7'4" area ---MH/fast or XF ---regular sized guides (not micro) --- prefer 1 pc --- prefer solid handle but split grip will do --- And I want all this shipped for under $50....lol...just kidding. I'd like to be under $150 I know I'll have to do a lot of homework and look at different rods. And I don't expect you folks to do this for me, just thought someone may have this exact rod and know off your head what it is. I'd be interested in used if anyone has this animal they don't use. Thanks folks
  15. Us as well. The boy played from cal ripken years, babe ruth ball (All Stars during those years), JR High, High School, Legion and then NCAA college ball so we watch it every year too; love it And was this the first time ever a team had gone into the losers side and come back to win the thing?
  16. It's a 2015 guys; I'd bet all my gear that the pump is not bad. My boat is a 1996; I've owned it since 1998; I just replaced the stock water pump this year; I'll say that again, I just replaced the stock water pump this year. And it didn't have a single crack in it. I just replaced it because I was getting scared of the time on it. As mentioned above, most likely a mud nest in the system somewhere. We all know about them getting into the outlet hole (pee hole) but don't forget about the inlet end of the system. Check the water inlets in the lower end too OP. Unless this thing as sat in salt water 24/7/365, the pump is most likely good
  17. Funny you mention this! I went out yesterday; and although the conditions were not ideal for a glide, I had to throw it with those new hooks on it anyway. Well, lo and behold, I had one hit it, got stuck, jumped a few times (despite my efforts to keep him down), and I dragged his butt right into the boat! I'm not sure that 1 fish is enough to create an outcome but that bait is batting a thousand so far! That hook is lighter than the stock hooks but still a rugged wire. I would have no dought it would hold a giant, if I were to get one to bite. Looking to get some more bites to really tell a difference but I'm happy with them so far.
  18. Welp...I'm happy to help. Why don't you give me the address to said pond, I'll come check it out and give you my thoughts. I'm happy to help in any way I can.
  19. @James NiggemeyerI couldn't make out that knot name and can't seem to find it again. I can't stand trying to tie a Palamar and would love to learn a new knot for this. Can you link that vid of this knot please?
  20. Native, you left out the best part Dat dere fall bite!! Not to rush summer but it sure does make it easier on the mind when it goes away.
  21. Thank you guys I just looked tonight and it is the FR795SB I have some No1 ST-36 hooks coming and will do my best to keep them down once hooked. Those 2 things should bring more fish into the boat on the glide for me.
  22. Definitely hooked I'm using a Dobyns; I think it's the 806, not sure, it is one made for glides and swimbaits. Yeah, I see them come up and hit it but these are hooked and sling it on a jump...killin me
  23. I've been getting bit very well on the glide bait but landing ratio has been horrible. I bet I only get 30-40% of glide fish to the boat; all others come off on first jump. I fish a lot of cranks and have no issues there so I don't think I'm playing them wrong. Of course the baits are 2-3 oz so the fish have a lot of leverage. I've been throwing a Waver 168. My thought is to swap the hooks. The stock hooks are a very thick wire hook and I don't think I'm getting a good hookset. They look to be made to hold the new world record but I'm catching 2-4 lbers Thoughts?
