  1. Congrats man! Nice smallie for sure!
  2. I'm out at 6am tomorrow morning
  3. Very well said Scott! My buddy and I took a 5 day guided trip to Falcon years ago; just after that breakout BASS tourney there that really put that place on the map. Anyway, we hired a local top gun guide @$400/day and we were both very disappointed. Not much of a people person; would always fish and cast first at almost every spot; we felt we were paying him to let us go fishing with him. I have a good friend up here who is a guide and he's flooded with clients. He's a friendly, calm, knowledgeable guy who knows customer service. He has said most of his clients don't really care if they catch fish they just like getting out.
  4. Stabil 360 Marine..every fill up. My boat is a 1996 and when I took the carbs off the intake looked new, inside carbs were like new as well; enough proof for me.
  5. Unbelievable! Great day and a great write-up; I really enjoyed reading it.
  6. Spinnerbait and jerkbait bites are typically better in the wind
  7. That's great to hear! Nice to see you both getting out together and catching some fish!
  8. I'm with ^^^, doesn't matter with that small of a difference. I choose my leader # by the cover/technique I'm fishing.
  9. ^^^This I usually start the day with 10-12 rods on the deck and try to narrow the bite down to 2-3
  10. I use Megastrike as well. Scents do a couple of things that can be beneficial to us fishermen. First, they can/do cover human scent...gas, oil, sunscreen, egg Mcmuffins, gatorade etc... Second, if that scent makes a fish hold a bait just a fraction of a second longer, allowing you to feel a bite and set a hook, it was worth putting on the bait in the first place.
  11. Even though the bait may/will not fall like it does in the water, the best thing you can get out of doing this is just being able to imagine what's under the water; when you are on the water. Every limb is different, every branch is different etc...so it helps if you visualize your bait coming through a given cover by feel. Take what you learn and see in the yard and that will help visualize that tree under the water.
  12. I think the thing that helps me the most is just constantly trying to be more well rounded; always trying new baits and techniques and knowing when to use these tactics. Having a large arsenal, and knowing when to use it, can turn those slow days into great days.
  13. ^^^I agree with you 100% Simply sharing some interesting reading.
  14. Wishing you the best man!
  15. This was snipped from Johns Hopkins website this morning and numbers are updated as of yesterday. This isn't some dude's opinion on a blog; most of you know Johns Hopkins is a leader in today's medicine. Just thought some may find the numbers interesting.
  16. Yessir! Hard to beat a jerk in New England in the spring. They are a go-to until water gets into the mid 50's for me
  17. Good God I had some horrible visions as I clicked this thread....
  18. I'll be out in about 2 weeks!
  19. That's really nice to hear T-Bone! To some, just going fishing is the nice part but, darnit, it's nice to actually catch something once in a while too! Then, as you learn more and more, your confidence builds and you see that you can actually make decisions that affect the outcome. And when you make those decisions that work, and you catch fish, well that's just a nice feeling of accomplishment. The information here is endless and these are the right folks to share it. Well done and nice to hear you didn't give up!
  20. This is absolutely the most asinine thing I've heard all year
  21. As long as people keep paying it, they already have it figured out
  22. My season starts when the ice is gone! Maine has no closed season for bass
  23. I've absolutely blistered them in the mornings and afternoons. For me, if there's open water, I fish
