  1. Wow, seeing those reminds me of when I lived in Corpus Christi Texas. We lived on the Navy base and would walk the seawall with a gig in hand, holding line in our other hand with a knot around our wrist. We would throw this spear at them as they ate mussels off the bottom of the wall. Once in a while we would even get one!
  2. Well done sir!
  3. Dang bro! Quite a trip!
  4. This has always been my thought as well. I think the colors catch more fisherman. I do like that Morning Dawn though.
  5. Welcome. Keep at it. You'll get em!
  6. As I normally wouldn't spend this much on any given bait, I'm Shirley not going to buy many in different colors. So, if you were going to buy a BBZ 40, what do you think is the most well rounded color? Does that even matter?
  7. I bought my first kayak this summer and am really hooked on getting into smaller water where big boats can't go. I've had some great days out there in it this year. I still love my Nitro and alternate here and there with it. My question is, do you guys still go out in the kayak in air temps of 35-40 and water in the high 40's, low 50's? Do you do anything different as far as safety precautions go? I always wear my PFD in it, and it's pretty stable; I'm just not sure if it's a good idea with extra clothes on, even with a PFD. Thoughts and tips? This is similar to my PFD fwiw: http://www.cabelas.com/product/boating/life-jackets-vests/inflatable-life-jackets|/pc/104794380/c/104741280/sc/104399280/cabela-s-essential-2500-auto-pfd/1806470.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Finflatable-life-jackets%2F_%2FN-1100590%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104399280

  10. Welcome Andy!
  11. Tcbass, my Nitro is a 96, I bought it when it was around 3-4 yrs old and have always stored it the exact same way you described; never had any probs with it. My buddy always gets a kick out of it when I haul it out for the first time, drive to the lake without firing it up at home first, drop it in and she fires up every time. He thinks I'm crazy not to try it at home first but that Merc just always runs for me.
  12. get her WPC! There's nothing I'd like to see more than you holding that sow!
  13. But, but...the guys on the show find them every day.
  14. And here I thought the term "tiger trout" was just a punchline.
  15. ^^This; Rage craws, Rage chunks for instance.
  16. You can call it "undisclosed" if you want; at least you can in Maine. That's my plan.
  17. lol, I hear ya brother!
  18. Ya, 01's, 02's and 03's. Never a DD that starts with a 1 though.
  19. Odd update: Took the boat out yesterday, it ran great in the morning until early afternoon, then started running awful. Took it out today, ran horrible again right from the start. We fished a few hours, then I said I wanted to try to diag it again. I was going to pull off one wire at a time and run it so I shut it down, took the cowling off, started it back up to run it until it skipped but it ran flawlessly immediatetly after I took the cowling off. I ran it all over the place with the cowl off and it was perfect; put the hood back on and it was still perfect. ??? Which was similar to the first day I tried to diag it. 2 thoughts=air blockage in the cowl. How and where does the air get into the cowl on a black motor? Other thought is what I thought before, something electrical heating up. taking the cowl off gave it enough cool air to stay working properly?? But even after I put it back on it was still perfect up and down the lake. No clue anymore...
  20. I just purchased a plane ticket. I'm on my way. Pick me up at the airport please.
  21. Welcome to the forum! Edit: wizard^^^
  22. Most definitely! You know what they say about the worst day of fishing... It's been a great week so far with the highlight being that my son, a freshman in college, got to come home last Sat through Tues for the long weekend; and this Sat we go up to his school for family day. I'm so proud of him and really enjoy keeping in touch with him, hearing about his classes, his baseball etc... He says the thing he likes best about college is having the gym at his disposal until 11pm. Gee, I wonder where he got that from.
  23. So I'm on vaca this week. Started my week on Sunday, took out the kayak to a new little pond but only caught 2; most of the time was scouting it anyway. Then on Wednesday, my buddy and I took my boat out to western Maine area to fish a lake with a pretty good reputation. I will not repeat that though. We fished 9 hrs and caught 1 bass each. Needless to say I will not be returning to that lake again any time soon. I shouldn't say that, it was a tough day all around. We spoke to 2 guys in Rangers and they they both had a tough day as well. The bite just was not on that day. We had a good dinner, some great beers and stayed in a motel for the night as we had planned on fishing said lake Thursday as well. Well after a couple beers we decided to stay the night there but get up early, drive back to our home lake and fish that today; and it didn't disappoint. Back to the normal 55 between the 2 of us in half the time. Saw a couple of eagles and then saw a moose swimming across the lake. We trolled over near it but I didn't want to stress him out so we stayed back as it got on shore, stood there for a couple of minutes catching his breath then wandered off into the woods. Here's a couple vaca bass
