  1. I'm using a Mitchel 310 on my ultra light rig. It has 4 lb. Stren and it's been put on it the correct direction. I keep getting birds nests and tangles. I'm only throwing small Rapalas ans Rebel lures with it so I don't think its line twist like from throwing a spinner. I'm thinking I may jus need to find a line with less memory. Any suggestions? Thanks, Todd
  2. Fished Wyassup again tonight. 10 bass, biggest just over 2 pounds. Half a dozen big slab bluegill and one 24" angry pickerel! water temp was a steady 70. I got everything on a silver broke back Rapala or a Rebel wee crawdad. Nice evening. Todd
  3. X2 on the PFD. Mine is also my fishing vest so it kind of forces me to wear it all the time. A good fitting comfortable PFD won't be uncomfortable. I don't even realize I'm wearing mine most of the time. Also, in addition to a whistle for safety a small air horn is a good idea. MUCH louder than a whistle. Also very important, let some what know where you are going and when you plan to be home. It's called a " float plan" That way someone knows where you are if god for it you don't return or check in. Todd
  4. So I got eaten alive last night!! Earlier than usual this year. So what is your favorite spray or magic potion to keep the Mosquitos away? I usually use Off but was wondering about everyone else. Thanks, Todd
  5. Do a google search for " Harbor Freight kayak trailer". Tons of posts and pics from various sites. Do yourself a favor and get the one with the larger wheels. They all come with a MSO for easy registration. Check you local DMV first though. Not difficult to get registered. Todd
  6. Green Falls is a great place. The fact that is car top only and no motors keeps the " Metal Flake Mafia" away. You rarely see anyone fishing there other than from shore. Makes it pretty peaceful. Todd
  7. I fished Wyassup last night. One bass and a Pickerel. Temp on the fish finder said 55 degrees. It was windy as hell, calmed down a bit around dusk. Going to try my hand at Billings tomorrow morning. Todd
  8. Look at Power Team Lures. They float and get very good reviews. Todd
  9. I have a friend who catches a lot of big ones on a foating, jointed Rapala
  10. X2 on looking on CL. To bad you weren't closer I have a Hobie Floatcat 60 with oars that I'm trying to get rid of. Todd
  11. Like was said earlier. Tractor supply has nice heavy duty ones for $4.95. They list them as Dairy crates. I just picked on up. They are pretty nice. Todd
  12. Bass yaks are WAY expensive. A gut on Kayakbassfishing.com jus did the exact thing to a Ride 115. It came out great. He said he has less than $250 in it. Todd
  13. Another option. Yakima make a "boat bar" that you use with their round bars. Makes single handed loading very easy. Look on YouTube. There are a few vids on it. Todd
  14. Very enjoyable show. Yea the Mountain Dew winner was pretty lame but all of the other shows were good. Would love to see Mike D come up to this end of CT and do a show.
  15. Steerage speed means " bare steerage way" the slowest speed that you can still be able to steer the boat. Keeps wake down. Todd
  16. Check out Power Team Lures. You will not be disappointed.
  17. I'm using a StCroix Mojo wacky model, Plueger president, 10lb power pro, 6 or 8lb leader depending on what I'm doing.
  18. Some of the ponds are starting to ice out a bit. We got another cold snap tomorrow. Supposed to be above freezing all next week. Pacing the floor waiting.
  19. Yea, there are some very big pike. WAY to crowded in the summer. Many better options without the crowds. Great spot off season though.
  20. Still all iced over here! Over 50 today but cooling back down. We're gonna need quite a few warm days before we ice out the freshwater spots. It's been a tough winter!
  21. Thanks for all your feedback. I appreciate it! Todd
  22. Just ordered a Lowrance Elite 5 HDI Gold. It wasn't cheap but I know it will do all I want it to. I hate " settling" for something and then wishing I had got something a bit better. That's why I too the plunge with this one. Hopefully, spring will arrive at some point and I will get to try it out!!!! Todd
  23. I've fished the Rebel wee crawfish for a long time. It's pretty small (size 12 hooks). I've caught a lot of fish on it. The place where it really shines is on big bluegills. Todd
  24. Just ordered it today. Really looking forward to it! Now we just need the winter to go away!!! Todd
  25. Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like a winner! I can't use the kayak transducer mount since it's made for scuppers and my kayak doesn't have any. Thanks again, Todd
