  1. I've been looking at the Denali Kovert 7'8" xh flippin rod. I think it retails at $149. If you don't want anything over 7'8" that might be a rod worth checking out. I also have a 7'6"mh veritas that I used as my frog rod this year and its definitely a work horse. As for line if your pitching and especially punching some real nasty stuff going up to 65lb might not be a bad idea. I think I'm going to try out 65lb Sunline fx2 braid this year on my heavy cover set up.
  2. New Hampshire is a little far of a drive from Nebraska haha
  3. Your not raining on my parade. If anything your helping me from making a bad decision.
  4. What do you guys think of this boat? http://lincoln.craigslist.org/boa/4173869084.html I would swap the trolling motor this boat has with a foot controlled trolling motor that my brother in law has.
  5. That makes my decision a little easier since Ive been leaning towards the Kovert from the start.
  6. I definitely appreciate the feedback so far. I did plan on looking over the boat before making a decision. I'm going to take my brother in law with me who knows a little about boats. Since I'm going in Saturday I'm not sure if any marine mechanics will be open but I'm looking into it.
  7. My other option I guess is tricking out a Jon boat......
  8. The budget I'm working with is a little over $3000 so my options are slim.
  9. I asked the owner and he said its fiberglass.
  10. Yep that's the boat
  11. The Dobyns is more than I'm looking to spend right now. I'm looking to spend at the most around $150.
  12. I didn't realize the boat had a wood frame.
  13. I've been looking into getting a Denali Kovert 6'10"m rod for jerkbaits and small cranks but I seen the St.Croix rebate sale on Gandermountain and they have the glass mojo bass target crankbait rod that is 6'10"m as well. Ive really been wanting to get my hands on a Kovert but with that sale I could save some money and get a rod that has the specs Im looking for. Has anyone on here used a Glass Mojo crankbait rod or a Kovert? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  14. Hey guys, On Saturday Im going to go look at a used boat for sale that im interested in. Its a 1990 blazer bass boat. It has a 175hp Mariner motor, 2 live wells, 74lb thrust minnkota, trailer with new tires, fishfinder, fresh main battery, tri bank charger, and has a hotfoot throttle. Im a first time buyer of a boat that is this size and caliber. My biggest fear is buying a lemon. I know the motor is the most important thing when buying a used boat but not sure what to look for since this is my first time. Any advice is greatly appreciated! My Dad and Uncle seem to think that a 175hp is to much. Im looking for a boat that I can possibly fish tournaments with and I would like a boat that I can be confident in on any lake. Do you guys think 175hp is too much for a first timer?
  15. I got 2 set ups I'm looking into getting. One is a Denali Kovert 7'8" flippin' rod paired with an old Quantum burner 7:0:1 that I have. The second is a Denali Kovert 6'10" medium crankbait rod that ill mostly use for jerkbaits. II'll probably pair it with a Lews Speed Spool.
  16. Haha, I'm in the market for a rod though.
  17. These rods are on sale right now at TW and I'm thinking about getting one. Does anyone have any experience with these rods or know if they are any good? The one I'm thinking about getting is the 7'6"H flippin rod which is $130 normal price on sale for $55.
  18. Thanks for the help everyone.
  19. What pound test would you recommend for a jig and soft plastics set up?
  20. What would be a good fluorocarbon line to use for a jig and soft plastics set up? I'm having a hard time choosing a brand. It seems all the reviews on tackle warehouse are half good and half bad on the lines I've been looking at.
  21. I've never used the BPS Pro Qualifier but I really like the $99.99 Lews Speed Spools.
  22. I don't need the reel so ill probably just stay away from it.
  23. Maybe because they are on sale I might be able to talk the guy into knocking the price down
  24. I have a Veritas 7'6"mh that I use for frogs and I think its a great rod for a good price.
