First Time Jigs
Thanks Matthew, I just got my order from Siebert Outdoors, I can't wait to skirt those jigs and see how they come out. These jigs look to be excellent quality! The paint on them is beautiful!

Yeah sometimes it's best to let them be lol. I saw a few rolling way out on 8th street canal but all I had with me was a medium spinning rod and my medium heavy with a pq. I probably would have been able to bring it in on the medium heavy except for the fact that my spool was at half and I've never caught Tarpon. Snook I do catch and actively go out fishing for em. My successful snook lures have been top water poppers, Storm mullet swimbait and a chrome minnow i cant remember the brand. As far as Peacocks, I've only caught 2. One small one on a tiny spinner bait and one on a big bulky black and blue football head jig with a big trailer at sunset. I knew a school of them were there and so I kept casting past them and bringing the baits by them. Tried like 4 things until I swam the big jig right through the school. This guy hit it.

Excellent info man! Thanks. Yeah that watermelon red flake gets the job done most of the time. The majority of my worms and stick baits are watermelon red, or watermelon magic. I see they do boat rentals there, have you ever rented? Do they allow you to bring your own boat? I'm talking something small like an inflatable that can be rowed. I assume none of their rental stuff has motors, or even trolling motors.

Pouring Jigs
Hey guys seems you have quite a bit of experience with making your own jig heads. Does this actually save money? I know initially it wouldn't because you would need to buy the equipment but in the long run what does making a jig cost you guys per jig. Approximately. I like the entire concept of making my own stuff to use. Even pouring plastics has crossed my mind. I keep all my torn up stickos just in case some day I decide to make my own lol. I already paint my own lures and rarely buy the stuff at the stores unless I see some color I just have to have that I know I can't make since I hand paint my lures with a brush.

First Time Jigs
So I was thinking about my jig color designs and decided to set up the two black jig heads that are 1/2 oz. Bigger than the Camo ones I finished yesterday. The reason I didn't finish them all yesterday is because I am still waiting on some full colored skirts. But after giving it some thought I figured why not use the black jig heads for black and purple. I've got jig heads coming that are black with blue glitter so I could use my living image black and blue on those. So here is what I ended up doing. First Jig Head: 44 strands of Living image Junebug (Green Glitter) with 22 strands of finesse black w/ blue glitter. = 66 Strands (But the finesse strands are half the size of the regular ones, so theoretically you could say they have the bulk of 55 strands.) The second Jig: 22 strands of Living Image Junebug (Green Glitter) with 66 strands of finesse black w/ blue glitter. = 88 strands (Since the finesse strands are half the size we could say it has the bulk of 55 strands.) I changed my strategy on the second one, because though I like the living image junebug, I wanted to make the jig overall darker with bits of purple in it. Please feel free to comment, and offer any opinions or suggestions. I take constructive criticism well.

I think they hit cranks and jerk baits. Probably some top water stuff too. They eat mullet so I would throw a big silver or chrome bomber. I actually have a nice big one but I never bring it with me when freshwater fishing. Then I spot tarpon rolling down the d**n canals and then I have to go home and cry myself to sleep lol. Thats overly dramatic. But it does suck.

I've considered going out there a few times but I hadn't been able to find any info online about the bass fishing. Nice job!

Spinner Bait Skirts Bulk
fishingskirts.com has really nice ones as mentioned before. Also there is a seller on EBAY called Den53. The ebay seller has tons of colors and also has 130 tabs (you can pick whichever colors you want. I think a minimum of 10 tabs per color. the fishingskirts.com ones though are the ones I have used. I have a post with pics http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/156676-first-time-jigs/

First Time Jigs
So I haven't had a chance to fish in over a week now and I've had time to do some online shopping. First I went on this mission to find jig heads that I could put dual weedguards on, but that was a fail. So I just took a regular jig and V shaped the weedguard and I found it to be somewhat what I wanted. Now my other mission was to save money on tackle. Which I usually don't considering the tools needed, or paint for the lures, or whatever else. Either way I said I am going to buy some jig heads and some skirts. Clear skirt bands and a cheap tool to make my own jigs. Now I feel this is a good investment for me considering the fact that I have liked to fish with jigs since day one of bass fishing. But I also tend to lose them very regularly down here in South Florida with the rocky lakes, or hung up on trees or who knows what else. Since I go through them so much it just made sense to buy some quality jig heads from Siebert Outdoors and some skirts from my super cheap go to online store wlure as well as a nice site I found called fishingskirts. Then because I liked the *** Jigs I bought recently I went ahead and purchased 4 Jig heads from them. So far I received my orders from *** and FishingSkirts. So the below pics are from those two combined. I can't wait to get my orders from Siebert and WLure. I worked with the Camo colored Jig Heads and 3 colors for the skirts. 22 Strands of Army Green Pumpkin (red glitter), 22 Strands of Yellow Watermelon (red glitter), and 11 strands of Watermelon Blue Magic Craw. I really like the differences in colors but at the same time the subtle changes as well. When combined there really isn't a strand that stands out like say a Chartreuse color, instead the Watermelon Blue pops slightly. My goal was somewhat of a bluegill color by combining the 3. I'm not sure if I achieved that , you all let me know what you think!

Sun Dolphin Pro 120
I'm looking into these as well. You get a lot for the money. 60" beam, up to 15 hp, a ton of storage, livewell, seats, decks, prewired, lights, and 600+ lbs weight capacity and rod holders. Its stacked lol. BUT its plastic. A few reviews stated they had leaks out of the box. That scared me a bit and has made me look at other boats (aluminum, fiberglass). But this one is still on my list. My dilema is looking for something cheap, with a good weight capacity, that I can easily tow with my mustang gt and will last a decent amount of time. Not really to many options for me once I factor in all of the things that WONT work for me lol. I do wish they had one in 14ft that would be optimal!

I love the skiff, it looks great. I must say though that motor looks mighty huge on it. LOL. Bet it goes fast though.

I like the lipless, but I seem to use them a lot less due to the fact that they are easier to lose. I should use them more often.

Lake Osbourne Bank Fishing?
Hey bassinOut89, I am curious if you ended up going out there? I was there yesterday, fished Ida and Osborne off the bank but I was skunked in a major way. There is tons of Bank Fishing area on Osborne and a lot of it looks excellent. I was hoping to find pads like last time I was there but I couldn't find any. Not sure what happened but there was a side canal that was just full of them last time. The only pads I saw were way to far for me to cast into. The water was pretty darn murky and there was a ton of boats and jetski's out there. It was extremely hot out there too, I mean I am talking about melting hot. I haven't sweat so much fishing in a very long time.

Looking For Peacocks In Broward County Area.
I second Geo on that. I was just out on Ida/Osborne bank fishing and saw quite a few peas. Nothing to big but that doesn't mean they aren't out there. I've heard Markam Park has Peas and like gotfishyfingers said Pines and Weston do have em. In the canals find bridges or any type of post structure that goes into the water. Good chance to find some peas hanging around them.

South Fl "cool Front"
I caught a peacock at sundown on a black and blue swim jig with a big 3 inch big bite swimming craw as a trailer. Swimming it real fast. I also caught one on a tiny spinner bait. The One in the pics was with the Jig. I just saw SirSnooks comment so I am editing this. Yes it does seem like the jig is great to anger them perhaps. I noticed them schooling up as the sun dropped till there was a big dark spot in the water. I knew they were peas because one had broke out and went after a crank but didn't follow through. I am so used to the start stop of largemouth fishing that my instinct was to slow down the crank. Fail. Keep it going fast, they hate it when it stops and will just turn away. So I threw 2 other cranks their way each time on the sides of the school. Finally I switched to the jig and 1 pass with that forced the one I caught to break out and just wack the crap out of the jig. This 3 pounder put up a better fight than my PB largemouth of 4 lbs. They are amazing to catch, very fun and there is no quit in them. A largemouth get tired, peas just keep on keeping on.

South Fl "cool Front"
Joe the interesting thing is where I was catching bass on the trail at the end of last month is now full of sucker fish and no bass. I've found them again but I can't get them to bite anything. Last month the Watermelon Red Sticko was working like a charm. This month its just a worthless plastic attached to a hook lol

South Fl "cool Front"
Went out to the trail today. Caught two after hours of trying different things. I knew the bass were out there, I could see them. I finally got a hook up on a bright chartreus crank and after about 2 hours of frogging I got one on a brown frog. Unfortunately I lost them both as I got them near the bank. But it was a tough day.

Don't See How You Guys Do It..
When I see swirls and blowups I cast right into it. Generally with a 5 inch StickO weightless or texas rigged with a 1/8 oz sinker. If I can hit my mark right on the blowup or swirl generally that faster moving senko will cause a reaction strike. The other day I caught this one weightless with the sticko. I saw the swirl, then it left some wake behind and another swirl, on the second swirl I put the bait right on him.

Flordia Trip 2015 Bass Catches
Mike, its awesome that you had a good time down here in Florida. Sounds like you guys did pretty good. Those are some nice looking bass. Curious how did Osborne turn out for you? I've fished it a few times from the bank but the most I've caught there was 3 bass in a given day.
