Yes Bob... You are right I do not own the latest Lews reels... Nor would I at this point and time... I won't debate it though, so who owns lews now? Still Quantum or some other investment firm? Reels are too expensive for me to try them all... I suppose owning a shop as you do... That gives you a fair amount of opportunity to at least cast them... I stick with what I like and know yields the results that I look for and/ or need...also it's a very competive business ( fishing) so I gladly yield the Floor!!! Lol......

Nobody can even conceive of a way to compete with Diawas Magforce Z or V or 3D Nobody can compete with shimanos VBS or SVS Infinity.... Personally,company's that combine both... Do neither very well. IMHO.....

I really love my dogs... I have lost a few over the years... It always made me reluctant too... A new dog just creates new memories never a replacement for the already made memories ! Sweet Doggy!!

There ya go... You enjoy drop shotting that's one rig... You like spinnerbaits... Try going deep with a one oz spinnerbait slowly along the contours of the lake bottom.. 2 rigs can keep you busy with good chances at some good fish!

Hands down Shimano 300E or D @ 10.2 oz it's a powerful reel... 29 IPT.. It is quick too.. Big gear, big pinion... It's a very well designed and reliable reel.... Reel in 10xd as well... Also Alabama rigs etc.. List goes on....

So I guess that would mean just a reeling action for hook sets ? Rather than a normal rod snap hook set... Is that right ? Or can you jerk with the bigger mosquito ?

Yea.. I gotcha the 2 hooks are slightly different from one another.. Wacky is camo while mosquito is black nickle. Thanks for the feedback !

Thanks.. I like the mosquito hook... It's slight offset is a style that works well for me in other rigs... At 2.99 a bag at BPS camo are 3.39 I really would rather use the black nickle.... Do you snell the hook? Or tie directly to hook eye?

Well the Great advisers have said it all. It is fun? I quit tournament fishing for that reason. It wasn't fun, anymore.. Reduce you're gear, focus on the joy of the outdoors, relax, take a breath... For me, it's fun, joy first... Catching fish is a goal... But just a part of the whole experience !

Well a Dt6 is running 8$ .. sieberts,it's a tungston rig... Well worth the less than 6$ .. That's about the best way to bust thru the salad... I have a few 1 1/2 oz. rigs... If you're serious about getting it thru that's the way to do it! Any rate , good luck to ya!

A true floating worm.. That's a good question! I used a gilraker worm it had a blend of foam in it... Man those really were the real deal...I now use strike kings super finnese with a plastic slip sinker type rig... Hard to throw... I think it's the ELA Z TECH material... I know Trigged the worm stands up!

Closing the bail by hand, also allows the user to feather the cast, as well as stopping you're bait on a dime.... It's a natural move in that after a couple years .. I just found myself doing it! It will help you.. In a few different ways!

No I had that happen with my old Avitar... Mine was a pic of a shimano reel bag w/ 4 one knockers going head to head.... Has to do with the company's that pay the bills here on the forum... The different sponsors paying for their advertisement where I guess .. Well meaning folks make mistakes by putting things on their Avitar or Sig. At least that's my understanding.

Lexa would be my 2nd choice in a reel that size.. They (diawa) are making a 400 size now.. I have not used it but I have the curados & Cardiff. The Cardiff is cheap... And you get what you pay for. My brother uses the Lexa and we fight all the time!! Lol!! It's all in fun! Yea he sent his off once.. And since then no problem.

I agree using the best gear you can.... A good deal on a rod is a big drive and nice... Skimping on a baitcaster may prove to hurt more in the long run... Really good reels perform much better... Make learning fun and easier... Plus holding their value longer in the event you resell... That's my opinion. The rod you picked out should be fine for some other applications too... Play around and find out... Learning the rod and reel will really make you a better fisherman and allow you to make you're presentations nicely ! Good luck!
