What Line To Flip With?
I pitch into cover with 40lb braid and sometimes use a 20lb fluoro leader.

Removing Fc Line From Bc Reel To "save"
I use cardboard paper towel tube which fits over a drill. The drill brings off the line quickly so I just loosen the drag on the reel to avoid overrun. Then when I want to put the line on another reel I just put the cardboard tube on paper towel dispenser and spool up. It works so incredibly well for me.

Girlfriend With A Caster
That's cool. I can't get my wife to use an artificial lure. She's stubborn about only using nightcrawlers. I'm lucky that she even fishes though.

What Rod Would You Pair With The Pflueger 6940 Reel?
Yes it's a pretty big reel and much bigger than needed for bass, but it can work. When I got interested in getting into fishing I went to cabelas and not knowing what to buy I got a pflueger arbor reel in 40 size. I paired it with a 7' medium fenwick silver hawk and used it quite a bit. It worked, but I wish I went with a 30 size. Mostly I use it for inshore reds and flounder.

Close Encounters Of The Human Kind
I was fishing near a dam on the Ohio river which runs parallel to rail road tracks and is pretty secluded because you need to drive a couple miles next to the tracks to get there. As I was leaving 3 guys were walking down the tracks and they looked homeless. As they approached one asked me where the next town was. I felt a little uneasy but one of the guys shook his head to the other and they moved on. I'm an athletic looking guy and I've been told I look intimidating so I can't help wondering if they looked at me and just decided they'd rather find an easier target. I still wonder what would've happened if I just looked some average joe because there was absolutely no one else around.

Pond Fishing
Try t rigging beaver type (I like berkley havoc pit boss) on a 1/4 oz. When I feel weeds I give the rod a little pop and it clears the weeds nicely.

Ohio River In W. Pa?
Anyone notice how poor the fishing has been in the river in the past 2 years?

How Often Do You Clean Your Reels?
I do a complete cleaning in the winter because it gives me something to do related to fishing. It's actually fun tinkering. Last year I bought a dremel and got into polishing internals and flushing bearings.

Best Way To Hold A Spinning Rod?
I hold it with all 4 fingers in front of the stem. It balances much better.
-
What's Your Favorite/ Go To Spinning Reel?
When I rarely use spinning gear my 30 size pflueger president works great.

Best Crankbait Knot?
I use a snap because it makes lure changes to quick and easy. I usually only take 1 crank rod so it has to throw multiple lures. I use an improved clinch to attach the snap and it holds just fine.

Feeling Bites W/ Baitcaster
Do you palm your reel? I use lefties but I find palming the reel and placing my index finger under the line helps a lot.

Knots For Heavier Line?
I use the improved clinch for fluoro and mono. Palomar for braid. I use the same knots regardless of weight of line.

Small Weedy Lakes
I recommend frogs, weightless senko and light t rigged havoc pit boss. You can clear weeds off a t rig with a little pop of the rod.

Carp Effect On Bass Bite?
I was kayak bassin a few days ago and as I was approaching a large cove I was seeing massive splashes everywhere. I originally thought they were bass blowing up so I was paddling like crazy and dreaming about how this was going to be frogging day of historic proportions. As I got closer I saw them, thousands of carp just going crazy and my heart sank. I ended up only catching a couple in the morning. Into the afternoon the carp calmed down and started catching some decent bass. I'm wondering if the carp feeding frenzy turned off the bass bite. Has anyone had similar experiences?

Presque Isle Bay Advise
Senkos were our most effective bait, but we just had a nasty cold front the night before we got there. I'll bet the bite is better now. Take senkos, tubes and hard jerkbaits.

Dawia T3 For Finesse
Japan lure shop has sv1000 deep spools in stock for 69 plus shipping. The sv1000 is one of the best kept secrets because it also fits steez and tdz and is cheaper than the sv 105 spool.

Favorite Leader Knot For Light Line

Which Dobyns To Get?
90% of my fishing is senkos and light t-rigs so I'd go dx743 (awesome rod) and a 735.

What's A Great Rod And Reel For Bass Fishing?
I would get him a shimano metanium xg from japan lure shop for about $300 shipped or if you don't want to spend that much get him a daiwa alphas sv for $200. You need to find out if he uses right or left handed bait caster reels. You'll impress him for sure, I know I'd be.
