  1. You can't go wrong with a president. I recently bought a stradic ci4+, but haven't used it yet. I've been debating whether to keep it or just stick with my president. I wonder if it it's going to blow it away at almost quadruple the price.
  2. More leverage with a longer handle.
  3. Lots of good deals right now on the curado I. American legacy has them for $139. Get the 6.3 lefty and you'll have a versatile reel.
  4. I say go for it because you have the ml rod already and the addition of the spool will get maximum potential out of your combo. I have the avail spool in my xt on an imx cr721. I'm not worried about line capacity because I use 10lb braid. It will sling an 1/8oz as well as 4" senkos. I love the ease of casting as well.
  5. I do have to agree that a curado I HG would be a better choice though.
  6. My curado 51e works just fine for frogging.
  7. Ladies, give me a shout out. I'm curious how many women are members here on a regular basis. I'd be shocked if there more than a dozen.
  8. What is your dream combo and do you own it? I figure life is too short and I really love fishing. I've always wanted an nrx and an ito. This past winter I got the combo along with a ton of other stuff (bait monkey is too strong).
  9. If fishing is your "thing" and you can afford it then I believe life is too short and unpredictable to not buy and use what you desire. Also if you buy good stuff, you can always sell it and make some of your money back. My dream combo used to be an NRX with an ito on it. Guess what, it's not a dream anymore because I have it!
  10. A buddy asked me to go up to erie for some steel head action in the creeks. Can I use my bass casting gear? I was thinking about using my nrx 893 and either an ito or 51e. Or should I use my spinning gear?
  11. Watching "bigmouth forever," was educational and changed my perception about hook sets. I used to wait for confirmation, but now I set ASAP. Bass don't feed like goldfish, they inhale. My landing percentage has gone up dramatically and I haven't foul hooked a fish since. Like they say, "the first tap is the fish inhaling the bait and the second is him spitting it out."
  12. Did you do any fishing?
  13. I find braid very manageable. Snags can be challenging though with such heavy braid which is why I use a leader most of the time.
  14. This year I want work on skipping docks and over hangs. I was practicing skipping and my results have been inconsistent. I have a few questions for you skipping experts. What is the easiest lure to skip? What combo do you use? Do you prefer centrifugal or mag breaks? How do you set up your spool tension and breaks because I've heard loose tension and tightened tension? What length rod is best? Do you have any tips on technique? Thanks. Also, I'm talking about using a bait caster.
  15. I can't believe how easy it was for me to balance mine. The rubber chair bumper cost me .70 cents and with 4 quarters the rod balances at the line guide of the steez 103. This balanced combo feels lighter than before.
  16. I put a 1" chair leg bumper and 3 quarters inside and I can now say my 893 balances perfectly. I also like the added protection for the end of the handle. Thanks for the tip.
  17. I have enough finesse casters, but if I was to get another I'd probably pick one up. I have an scorpion xt with an avail spool, hh airs and core gears. With all the money I've spent I could've picked up a brenious and saved some cash.
  18. Stupid question but where do you get rubber chair bumpers?
  19. I just picked up my first NRX 893. I'm officially done...for now.
  20. I've always used braid/fluoro leader, but this year I'm going to try straight fluoro for senko fishing. I've always been happy with braid's sensitivity even on semi-slack line though.
  21. Ive used japan tackle, japan lure shop and hedgehog studio. I'm always amazed at how fast I get stuff from japan.
  22. How do you add weight to the butt? I see you're from the 'burgh. What waters do you fish most?
