Second time that color has gotten me. Same color caught me on a Giant Dog-X a couple weeks ago at DSG lol

Favorite walking bait
Definitely the easiest to walk out of any I have used. If you get it just right you can get it to walk sub-surface as well.

Gill hooked bass
The mortality rate of a gill hooked bass is probably higher than bass that aren't gill hooked, but I don't think its an automatic death sentence. I caught this 4lb bass a couple years ago, and as you can see, a piece of gill was hanging down. Seemed perfectly healthy otherwise as she munched on a 6" senko.

- What line do you use for a popper?
I use 15 lb Berkley Big Game for all top water.- Senkos - What is your favorite non standard color?
This!!!- knot failure
I use 25lb Yo-Zuri Fluorocarbon leader material and it hasn't failed on me yet. I use a clinch knot to tie leader to hook. With line that thick it is hard to pull all the way tight, so I hold the hook with pliers and wrap a t-shirt around the hand that's pulling the line. For me, the Palomar knot is only for braid.- Hookset catchphrase?
I'll usually say "fish on" or "there it is".- How does rod speed/action affect sensitivity?
This is how I test a rod's sensitivity: I take a 10" piece of whichever line I'll be using on the rod and tie it to the tip of the rod on the last guide. Then I close my eyes and have somebody flick the piece of line. Of course this is just quick test without a way to quantify the actual sensitivity, but its something. I have to say, there is a clear difference from rod to rod. Some rods will give absolutely no indication of the flicking, and others will give different levels of the "tap" that we're used to feeling from fish. Again, its just a quick, crude method but the difference is noticeable.- Dogs and spooling rods/reels- warning Graphic
Ouch dude....luckily my dog is scared of fishing rods and won't go near them in the house lol- Monofilament Line
Berkley Trilene XL and Big Game are the only mono I use. Both are excellent lines.- Are we (you) genetically predisposed to fish?
What made you start?- Not bass, but...
Awesome fish! If I'm not mistaken, I think Zander get even bigger than walleye! Still in the perch family of course.- Are we (you) genetically predisposed to fish?
I'm definitely known as "the fisherman of the family". My dad is the only other one who fishes, and he is the one that taught me although he was never avid about fishing. I have been fishing since I was old enough to hold a rod and I knew at a very young age that this was something I loved. I simply could not get enough, and eventually it morphed into a full fledged addiction, which is where I am now. When I'm not fishing, I'm reading about it, watching videos of it, organizing my tackle or rigging up for next trip out. Family members who see all the tackle I have literally think I'm crazy. And I am- about fishing.- I'm so tired of weather forecast constantly changing....
Just yesterday a black cloud chased me off the water, even though the forecast was good and the radar was pretty clean. By the time I was leaving the lake, the sun was out and that cloud was nowhere to be seen. I was all kinds of confused- Savage Gear TPE Mayfly Nymph review.
Heron- your reviews are always the best. And this one is longer then usual!- ever do something this stupid?
This is some entertaining stuff! Reading these makes me feel a little better about some of the dumb things Ive done.- ever do something this stupid?
A couple years ago I was taking the boat out of the water after a night of fishing. I always take everything out before I load it up, then put all the stuff back in when the boat is strapped up. So after strapping the boat, and re loading all my gear, I left the lake. When I get home, as I'm unloading everything, I realize I made a huge mistake. Loaded everything EXCEPT my rods/ reels and tackle. I left it sitting in the grass at the boat launch. And this is thousands and thousands of dollars worth of gear. 5 rods/reels, 5 3700 boxes of lures, hundreds of tungsten bullet weights and everything. I hauled bass back to that lake so freaking quick, and luckily somebody had noticed it and put it in a safe place for me. Stupidest thing I've done but I really lucked out.- The Beer Is Brewing, The Trash Is Flying, and The Race For The Pennant Is On!
I want to see the winners of this years LLWS vs the current roster for the Atlanta Braves. My money is on the little leaguers.- Jar11591

My local DSG starting carrying this "Jawbone" tackle, or this is the first I have noticed it. They had spinnerbaits, frogs and jigs. They were all pretty inexpensive so I figured I would give them a try.- Basic spinning set up help
I would definitely go with braid, and I'd recommend 20lb Power Pro. Berkley Big Game is a great line, but it's a little thick in diameter for a spinning reel unless you go with 10lb Big Game, in which case I would opt for Berkely Trilene XL instead. It will give you more distance. With braid you don't have to worry about line twist, which is a common issue with spinning reels.- What time
