  1. Thanks for all the advice. Still trying to come up with my best option, anyone know a Jackson dealer with free shipping?
  2. Thanks for the replies...originally my budget was $1000 for everything. I do have a paddle to get started with, my nissan Xterra has a roof rack and crossbars so I was I just gonna strap it to them so really I only would need a Pfd and anchor. I was toying with the idea of an Ascend and having the extra money towards fish finder, better paddle, new rod holders, crate storage and accessories. But I'm totally on page with what Heavy is saying, just knowing in the past how I am with hobby stuff, like fishing started with a cheap-o baitcast combo from DSG then within a few months I'm building a custom rod to match my Lew's pro tourney reel, it might be in my best interest to just get started with a more well rounded model right off the bat. As far as testing goes the closet dealer of either I found is close to 2 hours away. I'll keep looking, next is to try and get a deal maybe on a end of model year sale.
  3. Well after looking into the Jackson Cuda 12, I'm really liking that as well, especially since it's made in USA and is 15% off right now.
  4. So after really working on the wife to let me finally get a kayak, I'm not sure which route to go. I'm more or less looking for opinions on which route is recommended. I have 3 options I'm considering thus far. My budget is around $1000. I was either thinking of getting an Ascend fs12 and building it up right away, a Vibe sea ghost 130 which comes as a package with included paddle, rudder, deluxe seat, and not being able to add electronics or such for awhile, or really go for broke and get a Feelfree lure 11.5 and not really be able to upgrade at all. Just looking for experience out there on which route any of you guys have gone. I'll be fishing mostly small lakes and occasionally rivers. Thanks in advance.
  5. DSG has Havoc plastics 2-$4 so I ended up with 8 bags of various pit boss size and colors.
  6. My family has a place up there and always talked to guys who has caught stripers but I never even seen one. They are on my target list but don't know if they are reachable without a boat. Possibly by the dam? I guess when I go up this year I'll have to try these guys.
  7. I always wondered that myself, I only ever saw a few guys there over the years but looked like they were mostly going after trout. Take my son to the park there quite often and walked around the lake but never really saw anything. I guess I should just take a rod and find out.
  8. Picked up a Daiwa Steez ex100xs over the winter for almost half price on eBay. Paired up beautifully with my DVT custom and ready to rock!
  9. I'm in Allentown
  10. Had my last service call of the day near a dicks, you know how that story goes! Needless to say they now carry Megabass, Jackall, and Keitech products. Picked up some crazy stuff I've never seen before but I figured what the hell.
  11. Would you be talking about furnace dam park?
  12. Patiently Waiting for my first custom!
  13. I'm pretty much a bank guy, although I do have waders I picked up for trout and never used them.
  14. I'm an Allentown guy as well and the few I know of are fished pretty heavy so it's quite tough. I started to venture out to the Delaware in Easton but with no luck. Have yet to try the Lehigh so maybe this spring since I'm so close. And are you talking about constitution dr on the east side where the fabled albino house is?
  15. Didn't go figuring it would be mostly hunting gear, well my hunting buddies said it sucked because it was mostly all fishing stuff......figures!
  16. That's what I was worried about.
  17. I never went before, so I'm hoping there is as much fishing stuff as hunting.
  18. Just saw the advertisement that this weekend there is a sportmens show at Ag Hall in Allentown and was curious if anyone is going?
  19. I fished that one in emmaus a lot last year and pulled a few decent sized from there. It gets fished pretty heavy so it took awhile to figure it out what would work. I'm like 5 minutes from the res but never tried it either.
  20. Where abouts on the Lehigh do you recommend? Never fished it and really dont know where to go. I wonder if there are any decent spots by the boat launch by the iron pigs stadium?
  21. I live right by lehigh parkway where they stock the little lehigh with trout, good luck the first 3 weeks trying to find a spot to fish. That is what pushed me more into the bass game, only problem finding good places around here.
  22. Where is that in Northampton can't say I ever heard of it?
  23. Are you talking about down by cedar beach? If so I never knew for sure either if they had any bass or not.
  24. Anyone here a member to Ranger Lake in coplay? I live maybe 15 minutes from there and was curious if it's worth getting a membership?
  25. I live in Allentown but never been to either but heard good things about both.
