  1. So last year in the hot summer days I went to a community pond to see if it was worth fishing. It's not the main pond at the park, you have to take a secluded road to get there, but most locals know about it. I was fishing a blue back chrome lipless crank with an orange belly. I caught about half a dozen and the biggest being 3lb8oz. I fished it a couple more times, but most bass were around 2lbs, having good luck on lipless cranks. So today, around 9 months later I threw a craw crank and caught a 2.5 then a dink, and made a short throw and WHAM I set the hook and figured by the feel it was around 3.5-4. I weighed it. 3lb 9oz and snapped a picture. Then looked at the one from last year. The one today was much whiter, which all I caught today were. So do bass get whiter during colder weather? Here's the pics. It seems like it got longer but skinnier. If it is the same it only gained an ounce..? Notice the markings.
  2. No problem. And I think we all do.

  5. 6'6 is fine. And it's 6.4 instead of 5.4 is nothing major. You might just have to reel slower. The ratio isn't as important as the inches per turn.
  6. Go to all the sites.. TW, BPS, Cabelas.. Look for their clearanced craws. And go to your local sporting goods store and Walmart and dig through the bairgain bens... I found 4 packs of megabass shrimp for 1 dollar, 14 bucks retail.
  7. It wouldn't be bad. It'd be alright. I'd save a little tho. I know its hard to find time.. I'm a junior in high school with 4 college classes, work, sports, and side jobs.. And fish 24/7. But shovel snow, clean gutters, and when it gets warmer split wood, mow grass.. Jobs like that are easy ways to get extra money for anything.. Fishin stuff for me. For the cheapest way I'd get a Lews american hero combo. It's for a great cause. The abu combos will do good to tho. If it were me tho Id get an h2o mettle reel (60) with a lightning Rod. (40).. But I think they make a combo.. Also academy has the blue max on sale for 40!
  8. I'd save 20 and get an ***. And if you don't want to you can get a vendetta for 50 at Walmart think. Not 80. The ZX is an amazing Rod for 70. probably my 2nd favorite. It was on sale tho. And as for the specs.. Get a Rod around 7 foot Medium Heavy, Fast action.
  9. These are the imo the best rods in their price range. $40 berkley Lightning Rod 60 Diawa Jupiter (Walmart) 70 cabelas tournament ZX 80 abu vendetta/veritas 100 *** black I have all these rods except the veritas. I do have the vendetta tho. I like getting stuff at a discount, so I would look around on websites like tackle warehouse, bps, cabelas, acedemy.. And also look at the clearance section at Walmart. I got my Jupiter for cheap at Walmart and its a descent Rod. Amazing for the price. I like all I listed but it pretty much goes in order of what I like the most from expensive to cheaper. Other good brands are duckett, falcon, Fenwick, Denali, powell.. Look on here and you'll find lots of post about rods in every price range.
  10. Reels : lews bb1, bb1 pro, lfs ss, just about any Lews reel. H2o Xpress mettle. Rods : *** blacks.. BPS Crankin stick if you want glass. And the other suggestions are good as well.
  11. Hellz yeah! They have BB1 pros and tourney pros for 148 and tatulas for 109 I think. Great prices. Definetly gonna order a Lews soon from them.
  12. Awesome. Normally things like that are too good to be true and you get screwed. But I'll gladly save 50 bucks. Thanks guys.
  13. Sportsmans Outfitters in Alabama has a store on eBay.. Their selling TP's and BB1 pros for 148 shipped. Are they legit? Has anyone delt with them? Are they actually NIB or could they be returns? Thanks!
  14. H2o Xpress mettle on a *** black 7foot 1 or 3 mh. 160. Or you can get anything Lews for the reel. Lews is the best brand of reels imo.
  15. H2o Xpress mettle mt2 from acedemy. I PROMISE this is the best reel for its price. 60 bucks and it whizzes baits a mile. I love mine. You won't regret it.
  16. im 17, addicted to fishin and work at Dairy Queen. I am to busy with school, sports, work, and other things. I used to race dirtbikes and I'm gonna sell mine for around 1500-2k and then buy a jon boat. I was lookin on Craigslist and found 11'6" Coleman Crawdad (looks to be flawless) with minn Kota trolling motor, humminbird 565, Rod holders on both sides, really nice seats, grey carpet, lights, paddle, and trailer. All looks very nice. He's asking 900 obo. How stable are they? Is it worth spending more for a jon? I yak at small creeks , rivers and also different size lakes. Biggest lake I go to is Norfolk and Cypress. Thanks for your help!
  17. Lightning rods, vendettas, and for 20 more, cabelas tournament ZX (on sale). I have those 3. Lightning rod for my River beater spinning Rod and vendetta for an extra jig and today I got the ZX. I'm sure the ethos is good too. I have the mettle reel and it's worth atleast double its price. All will do well but pick the one that you like the most. All people will tell you different things.
