Quantum... Why The Hate?
I currently own a couple quantums, an older spinning reel Quantum Pulse which i used for a few years, now sits in my closet but still works and I have a quantum code burner baitcast that I have owned for 5 years and still to this day use it on my frog rod because it still works great!! Although, I do think they are good, their are times when I check some out at the store wether its display model or even one in the box, there has been many times that they dont feel right, but, the ones i do own, are great. Its all about keeping up and clean/oil religiously!!

Line Preferences:
Sufix braid Seaguar Flouro Berkley mono(For now) Only reason why im using berkley for mono is because quite some time ago i bought a ton of spools because of a sale, slowly trying to use them up and almost there lol. Looking to try something different in the near future and maybe with braid as well but the sufix braid is great, love it!

Oil Or Grease
EXACTLY!!! And I believe the teflon actually helps deflect dirt and particles from catching!

How Many Rod/reel Combos Do You Really Need?

Oil Or Grease
I use Tri-flow, its teflon oil, it works into the metal and is so smooth, I also use it in my bearings, works amazing!

Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth First Test Today!
I cant say much about full days of fishing because i only tested it out for about an hour casting various lures, but, the handle is perfect for working topwater because its short, but its not too short. I casted a spook jr so far it was ridiculous and not even joking, my cousin couldnt believe it. With the revo s, the balance point is amazing, i could cast one handed and very very accurate. Ive never been so impressed with a rod before. I really wanted to try a lews reel for this combo because mainly i already bought a couple abu garcia reels this year and i love trying different things but because i had a gift card to bass pro, i decided to try the revo s. I still had to pay a bit out of pocket but, i felt this reel would be an all around good reel, and glad i got it cause it worked amazing!!

St Croix Warranty ??
I understand that you dont want to spend more money on a rod for shipping but, thats just how it is, you get a brand new rod, I dont see whats wrong with that?

Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth First Test Today!
Honestly for senkos and flukes i think it the MF would be fine. Just for practice purposes I tied on a 1/8oz jig head with kalin grub and was still casting nicely. I think its the heavier wired hooks that may be a bit harder for hook sets. I think you will be fine!

Baitcaster Vs. Spinning
Practice, practice, practice!! You need to learn how to properly adjust your spool tension and brakes, and just practice. I promise once you get the hang of it, you will love it. I only bring one spinning setup with me and its for finesse fishing, everything else is baitcasters and I want more lol!!

Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth First Test Today!
I was looking for a topwater rod for awhile that could cast small skitter pops and also handle larger topwater like spooks and chug bugs. Many, many people on here recommended the Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth 6'10" MF. As some of you know, i pulled the trigger and ordered one. Last week I purchased a Revo-S to match with this casting rod. Today I was finally able to at least just cast this rod and see what it can do. WOW, I am more happier than I thought i was going to be, this rod slings that small skitter pop further than i thought and the revo that i matched it up with worked out perfect! I then tested out the spook jr and that casted a mile! I was pretty much casting that small skitter pop as far as i would have with a spinning rod. Im am absolutely happy with this combo and truly feel this IS the perfect topwater rod for me. And the balance with the Revo s is ridiculous, i could comfortably cast one handed and still get distance. Thank you all again for steering me to the Fenwick, although I have only tested the casting ability today with this rod, I can already feel how great this will treat me this year. Maybe by the end of season i can do a full review if I remember lol!! Thank you guys!

1 Carbonlite Vs. 2 Berkley Lightning Shock Rods
I got my Carbonlite 4 years ago, 7'MH for frogging, I have been using the same rod with 50lb braid this whole time for frogging and it has performed amazing. My buddy asked me why havnt i replaced it for a better rod, NO REASON TO. This rod has been strong and i have pulled bass out of some THICK stuff! As far as your second rod, get the best you can afford, honestly cause in the long run, its nice to have a better rod.

What Did You Buy This Winter?
Every year I start going crazy in January and start my buying frenzy!! So far this year... Abu Garcia Villain 7'1" MH (BC) Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth 6'10" MF (BC) BPS Tourney Special (Spinning) Abu Garcia Revo MGX Abu Garcia Revo S Abu Garcia Orra SX30 Rod Gloves Reel Covers Terminal Tackle So many lures/plastics Line The Abu Garcia reels was not planned, it just so happens that I randomly got those without realizing it! Also because BPS does not sell Lews and because i had giftcards to bps, thats what i went with. But I plan on buying some Lews reels next time I have an excuse to get another reel. The Tourney Special rod I purchased because I needed a new 2 piece rod that i can throw in a backpack for when i get on my mountain bike and go on an adventure!!

Flick Shake Rod
6'8''-7' MF, half spool with 20lb braid and rest with 8lb fluoro
-
Lew's Reel Cleanings
I would like to know this as well, although for my revos i just recently acquired. They both have the same port underneath the gear so I would like to know if people use that abu garcia lube or some other kind of lube/grease or oil in there?
-
Line For Jig Rod
Ill just straight braid 50lb for thick heavy cover or 17-20lb fluoro for everything else
-
More Rods Or Higher Quality Rods
I think you should keep what you already have and slowly build with your more lower budget rods.

Help With A Frog Setup
like others have said you dont need H for frog rod, I hauled bass out of super thick stuff with my mh carbon lite for 4 years and it still looks new and is strong. 50 - 65 lb braid is the way to go, i use 50. I feel the MH also helps to cast a little further but thats me.
-
Why Technique Specific?
agreed To me, I understand the specific actions and powers for different techniques, I dont base my decision on what the rod says because every company is different. I love having multiple rods for the purpose of just grabbing a different bait and start casting with out waisting time on retieing a different lure every time!

Rod Power Question For Abu Garcia Veritas Owners
Haha i knew your name looked familiar!! Thanks again for the help, love the rod!! Yea not too many choices on the 2 piece, good luck on the decision, let us know what you end up with!

Line Choices: Type And Weight For Applications
for those techniques the lightest i would go is probably around 30-40, 50 seems to be a good all around. As far as having problems with less than 30lb for braid, you just have to make sure your using mono backing with braid(with any braid) and make sure you spool tight (not overly tight) but also make sure your drag is not too tight. I usually go with the lighter braids like 20lb for spin gear, half with braid and fill the rest with whatever line im using, my finesse rod has 20lb sufix performance braid and other half is 8lb fluoro.
-
Line Choices: Type And Weight For Applications
1) 12# Fluoro 2) 10-12# Fluoro, can double up and use t rigs or other plastics 3) 50# braid Braid For 2, you can go either way, but fluoro i like better for that. For 3, 50# braid has always worked great for me, ive never snapped 50# and ive had that in THICK stuff, but you can go 65 if you want as well. Everyones going to have different answers and its honestly mostly personal preference. Good luck!!

Leader For Braid Setups - Topwater
For spinning i would use 20lb braid and 8lb fluoro leader, if you dont do any topwater on this rod, fluoro for sure, but you could also get away with 8-10lb mono if you want that option, 8lb is plenty strong in my eyes and for river smallies i think your good!
