Fluorocarbon and Jigs
Line companies have done a great job marketing fluorocarbon as "low stretch". And I totally believed it until I actually fished with it. Don't believe the hype, it stretches as much as mono and sometimes more. Now this isn't necessarily a bad thing, but if you are concerned with line stretch and want to eliminate it then you should go to braided line. Spool up with 15#-20# braid (with or without a mono or FC leader) and you will get great hook sets on a long cast.

plastics
My system is pretty minimalistic. I keep all my plastics in the original packaging and I don't have a boat so I'm either wading or bank fishing. At home I keep my plastics in a large drawer and have a small over-the-shoulder bag I use while fishing. Before each fishing trip I will add bags of plastics I think I will need and take out what I think I don't need. This usually doesn't change much unless it's a season change (summer fishing to winter fishing). Otherwise it's usually just replenishing what I'm running short on. It's very rare that I wish I had brought a certain plastic with me. Usually I'm wondering why I brought so much because my bag is too heavy!

Favorite Smallmouth technique
My favorite technique for catching my river smallies is a finesse jig. My most productive is a t-rigged 4" YUM Dinger.

Fishing Shows Back on TV
I watched the new episode of Lunkerville last night, kayak fishing in NC with a wounded vet. Mike D caught a pig! As I was watching I was reminded that Lunkerville was how I heard about Bass Resource when I saw an episode with our very own Glenn May as a guest. He was schooling Mike D on how to catch smallmouth.

2016 B P S Catalog Observations
I've worked in the printing industry for 25 years and the company I work for prints BPS catalogs. Catalogs in general are getting thinner because of paper and postage costs. They use thinner/cheaper paper or reduce the number of pages (or even reduce the page height/width) to make it lighter and reduce postage costs. But catalogs are still an important part of marketing strategy and there are companies that eliminated print, saw their sales go down, and started printing again. Even "internet-only" stores (like Amazon) are starting to print catalogs because they help sales.

Garlic Dip
I almost always dip my plastics in Spike-It chartreuse garlic, but more for the color than the scent. Also started using Megastrike Original last year. Don't know if either one really helps but it's a confidence thing for me.

NRX Casting Rods Reel Seat Comfort
As stated, this will be subjective with each person. With that being said, mine are very comfortable when palming the reel. I have a JWR 893C/Shimano Curado I and an MBR 842C/Abu Garcia Revo LTX. Love them both but that MBR 842C is really something special...

Gliss Monotex Line ~ A Brief Review
My experience with Gliss is similar to OkobojiEagle. I've been using 24# on a spinning rod since September and initially I loved the casting distance. But the coating is wearing off and the line has started to fray and the casting distance is now no better than I was getting with 10# Sufix 832. I always tie on a FC leader, but I've had to cut off yards and yards to get to unfrayed line. It was a nice experiment, but I'm going back to 832 when it's time to replace the line.

Caution: Shimano Zodias Balance
X2. I put a black chair leg end cap on mine and kept adding nickels until I liked the balance. Total cost was 50 cents for the end cap and 20 cents in nickels. I think it looks great and more importantly it doesn't feel tip heavy anymore.

What Do You Want To Try Next Season
This past season I intended to try the Ned rig but I never even bought the pieces parts for it. And I rarely picked up my spinning rod anyway as I mainly fished jigs on a baitcaster. So... I want to (try again to) try out the Ned rig next season.

3/8 Oz. Jig Rod- Nrx893 Or Nrx894
I've never fished the 894, but I have an NRX 893 and don't see any problems using a 3/8 ounce jig. With a lure rating of 3/16-5/8 ounce, the 3/8 would be right in it's wheelhouse. I use my 893 for up to 1/2 ounce jig + plastic and there is plenty of backbone for a strong hookset, but I've only used it in open water. Heavier cover may lead you to an 894 instead.

Am I The Only One That..
I get to open water fish all winter. It gets cold here in the eastern panhandle of WV but I'm lucky that the river I fish doesn't freeze. And it has some walleyes in it. And once in a while I even get one of them to bite.

Best Line For Winter?
Following this thread because I haven't found a good solution yet for braided line freezing in winter (and I really don't want to change the line). I've just been occasionally breaking the ice out of the guides and when the line gets ice particles on it, it reel it in between my fingers to melt/knock off the ice.

Looking For Opinions On My Website.
I'm piggy-backing off of Mr. Bob because I had the same thought above when I've been on your website in the past. I find I have to look through every jig name to find what I'm looking for (not painful, you have some beautiful jigs!). But for example, I'm interested in a finesse football jig, say 1/8, 3/16, 1/4 ounce. I see "Grid Iron Jig" and think that must be it. Hmmmm, nope they start at 3/8 ounce. OK, back to home page. How about "finesse jig"? Nope, not an available selection. Poke around some more and find "Football jig" under "Supreme Jigs" and see a 1/4 ounce light wire. Now we are getting somewhere! Then next to it I see "Finesse Jig" and there are 1/8, 3/16, 1/4 ounce sizes. Not football heads, but these are a possibility. Hey wait, what are these Sway Jig thing-a-ma-jiggies? Wow, they have a football head! With a skirt they start at 1/4 ounce, but without a skirt I can also get 1/8 and 3/16 ounce. I wonder if Mr. Siebert would put a skirt on those? Having the jigs organized by category would make browsing your site easier. Just my .02 cents..... Steve-O
