BR tourney shirt questions
Looks good Gene. I had thought about putting my name on the back, but like Lane said, and you have done, I think I'll put my screen name on the back. Great idea, thank you! Avid, What does SOP stand for? I couldn't figure it out.

Ever been skunked?
I almost got skunked this one time. I was walking around a buddy of mine's house late one night to get to his back door when all of the sudden I hear this loud hissing noise. I immediatly froze in my tracks and there 2 feet away is a skunk hissing like a tire with a hole in it. So now I'm thinking "what am I gonna do now?" I figured if I just stood there maybe it would back away but it didn't, it held it's ground for a good 5 minutes until I decided to very slowely back away from the skunk. As I back away the skunk slowely starts backing away too, at an equally slow pace. After a slow retreat and another 5 minute wait the skunk just stops. I decided that if he was going to spray me the skunk would have done so already. I decided to chance it, and slowely walk past the skunk who at the time was about 6 feet away from the house. I had to go between the skunk and the house. So very slowely, I inched my way between the two keeping my eyes on the skunk and waiting for it to turn around and start stamping it's feet. Luckily he never did get too spooked except on the initial approach. I walked to the back door, and made it in to the house just fine. And of course I have gotten skunked while fishing too. That is, I didn't catch any bass. What gets me is when I am fishing with someone who could be classified as a "junk fisherman", and they are catching fish but you can't even get a bite even when you do what they do. A couple weeks ago I was fishing at a local lake and the shore was lined with all the normal weekend warrior trout fisherman. As I am fishing I can hear them all talking among themselves and saying how the trout just aren't biteing that day. Immediatley to my left was a father and his 2 daughters. Out of the blue one of the girls about 10 years old catches a nice size trout for the lake. I was laughing so hard (to myself) that this little girl got bit, and all these vetern trout anglers can't get one bite. Those are moments to remember.

BR tourney shirt questions
I purchased one of the BassResource.com tourney shirts to wear during the 2007 tourney season. I'm not normally one to give a hoot of what other people think about me, but I need some other opinions on this matter. I was thinking of getting my name embroidered on the shirt and having a B.A.S.S. patch sewn onto the shirt as well. The tournaments are B.A.S.S. affiliated club tourneys, and I would like to know do you think that having my name and the B.A.S.S. patch sewn on is overboard, tacky, what? Tell me your thoughts on the matter. Please and thank you.

MT FIRST TOURNAMENT
OC, greet job at that tourney! Keep up the good work! Yah! Even if that means mouth to gill resusitation! Fish are going to die sometimes, and that is part of tourney fishing. You can take steps to prevent harm to fish, and you can take steps to help the fish that are on a downward curve, but there are going to be fish that die in just about every single tournament due to high stress from being caught and being placed in a livewell and carted all over the lake for the day. There are 2 things you can do for those fish. 1 quit tourney fishing, and join peta and become a peta goof, or get yourself some Catch and Release formula from Sure Life Labs. The company has alot of great products that help in reducing stress levels of fish in the livewell, as well as helping to regenerate the slime coat that the fish has lost, opening it to infection and ultimatley a slow and painful infection resulting in death. The fact of the matter is that there will be a small percentage of fish that are going to die in each tournament no matter how well ypu care for the fish. You can do everything you possibly can to ensure that they will be released alive, but they die anyway. It IS part of tournament fishing no matter how you take care of the fish.

Is the 110 per person, or per boat? I just got a boat last October. It is quite used though. It is a 16 foot 83 Hydro Sport with a 110 evinrude.

Sort of looks like the 2 lower ponds at deer lakes, but nope. I don't like deer lakes. Fish are all small and I can never get anything there. But then again I have only fished there twice and at both ends of the weather extremes. A hot summer day, and a few weeks ago when it was cold in the Pittsburgh area.

The title is a joke, ha ha ha. I did make the paper though. I was fishing Sunday and this guy with a big honkin camera walks up to me. He starts asking questions about how the fishing is, is the pond any good etc.... Then he says he is a camera man for a local paper, and asks if he can photograph me for the paper while I am fishing off of the bridge. I said sure, and started towards the bridge with my rods. As I was heading over to the bridge, he snaps a few pics of me walking and posted the pic below instead of the pics of me fishing. I really wanted to get a fish while he was there, but it just didn't happen. I got to try out my new raingear too. I just had the parka on since it wasn't pouring, and I wasn't in a boat I didn't see the need to put on the bibs too.

A joke with some history to it.
I got this in my email today and thought yin's would find it funny. New Orleans lawyer Korene DeBusschere sought an FHA loan for a client who lost his house in Hurricane Katrina and wanted to rebuild. She was told the loan would be granted if he could prove satisfactory title to the parcel of property being offered as collateral. The title to the property dated back to 1803, which took the Lawyer three months to track down. After sending the information to the FHA, she received the following reply on 05-04-06: (Actual letter): "Upon review of your letter adjoining your client's loan application, we note that the request is supported by an Abstract of Title. While we compliment the able manner in which you have prepared and presented the application, we must point out that you have only cleared title to the proposed collateral property back to 1803. Before final approval can be accorded, it will be necessary to clear the title back to its origin." The lawyer responded 06-05-06 as follows: (Actual Letter): "Your letter regarding title in Case No. 189156 has been received. I note that you wish to have title extended further than the 194 years covered by the present application. I was unaware that any educated person in this country, particularly those working in the property area, would not know that Louisiana was purchased, by the U.S., from France in 1803, the year of origin identified in our application. For the edification of uninformed FHA bureaucrats, the title to the land prior to U.S. ownership was obtained from France, which had acquired it by Right of Conquest from Spain. The land came into the possession of Spain by Right of Discovery made in the year 1492 by a sea captain named Christopher Columbus, who had been granted the privilege of seeking a new route to India by the Spanish monarch, Isabella. The good queen, Isabella, being a pious woman and almost as careful about titles as the FHA, took the precaution of securing the blessing of the Pope before she sold her jewels to finance Columbus ' expedition. Now the Pope, as I sure you may know, is the emissary of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and God, it is commonly accepted, created this world. Therefore, I believe it is safe to presume that God also made that part of the world called Louisiana. God, therefore, would be the owner of origin and His origins date back to before the beginning of time, before the world as we know it AND before the FHA. I hope you find God's original claim to be satisfactory. Now, may we have our damned loan?"

crankbaits the feel
I like a graphite rod with a fiberglass tip. For line I like monofilament. It has a good stretch to it, so you don't tear the hooks from the fishes mouth.

Finally a decent day at the lake.
I finally caught some bass during the winter time up here in Pa. I have gone out I'd guess 50 times and not caught more than 2 bass all those trips. Today started early for me. I got up around 7am and went to the eye doctor to pick up my new glasses. As I was sitting in the doctors office, I decided to run into the Walmart across the street when I was done at the doctors and grab some Stanley finesse jigs they had on sale for $2 bucks a piece. Being the bait junkie that I am, I ended up buying way more than I went in for, but it paid off while at the pond today. I bought all the stanley jigs they had. ;D A pack of 1/8 oz ball head jigs, and 4 packs of $1.50 3X finesse worms. On the way to the pond I stopped at Dick's sporting goods, and got my 2007 fishing license, and went looking for some football head jigs. I didn't find any packs of football jigs, but I did find five packs of Storm hula grub type plastics that come with 2 football jigs each, and they were marked clearence for .57 cents each. I got all five packs, and I got a couple packs of terminator 10' ribbon tail worms @.97 cents each for when it warms up some. I get to the pond and I start off with a YUM wooly beavertail on a football head jig, flipping it around a ledge that goes around part of the pond, nada. After I make my way about 1/4 of the way around this pond I deide to give the shakey head a try, so I rig up one of the 1/8oz ball head jigs, and rig one of the 3X finesse worms on it weedless. I found this small creek that goes into the pond where I thought would be a great place to catch a smallie or two. I cast out a few times and on the fourth cast I felt a bite. I reeled and set the hook on a nice little 15 inch smallie. I cast again almost to the same spot, and this time I catch a LM bass on the very next cast. After trying my luck for another 10 minutes or so I moved on down the pond to where there are 3 sunken brush piles. I tied on one of the finesse jigs that are black and blue with a couple stands of green, along with a black craw with blue pinchers. The very first pitch into the brush pile I felt something "funny" and set the hook, and out came about a 15 inch LM. After another few pitches to different holes in the brush, I caught another Lm bass about the same size as the last one. I caught 4 bass today, which really surprised the heck out of me. They seemed to be pretty active but wouldn't take any crankbaits or spinnerbaits that I tried here and there in fish holding spots. Unfortunatley you all have to take my word for it since I only carried a small amount of lures with me. No camera, no scale, and no tape measure. I'm going back out tomorrow so I'll take the camera with me. A cold front is blowing in so we'll just have to wait and see if the fish are hungry tomorrow.
