  1. Thats a great idea! I wonder though.... What would you have to go through each time you wanted to dive in a local lake or pond? Could you just go and do it, or would you have to get permits, and all that crap?
  2. I think it was trout fisher who said about the oil under our soil. In the town I live, and surrounding areas, I know of around 50 gas/oil wells that have popped up over the past 10-15 years or so. I wonder where the oil from the wells is going since supposedly we are not drilling in the US. I do know that the wells are in fact oil wells because they put one in the woods up behing my house. I went up a few times to check it out and personally saw the oil (when they started) and you could smell it too. I also know of a farm owner who lives in the area who was approached by an oil company who wanted to check for oil on her property. According to her, they said if they did find oil on her property and gave them the rights to it, she would be given free gas for the rest of her life.
  3. Welcome to the forum River rat! It seems this thread brought up alot of memories for the seasoned anglers. I have one question, make it two. Could the Silver minnow be catagorized as a "winter lure"? It seems to me that you could fish it very slow and smack dab on the bottom. I mat give it a try tomorrow if the lake isn't frozen. and also..... It seems to me that the lure would be good for tageting suspending bass on ledges. Has anyone fished the lure in open water? It sounds like everyone fishes the lure exclusively in cover.
  4. I would like to have a big aquarium oneday to study bass habits, but it'd have to be BIG. I also think you would have to have it outside inorder for the observations to be more true to the natural habits that bass exhibit in the wild. If the aquarium is placed inside, I think you could only study certain aspects of the bass's daily routine. Such as feeding habits, and how they react to certain stimuli like oxygen levels, and ph levels, but that is about it. When placed outside the aquarium would provide a more natural chance to study the bass being that the bass would react to biological changes such as weather conditions, barometer, temperature etc. A big huge pond would be nice too.
  5. Did you really tell the bank it was the bait monkey? And if you did, what was their response to that? That is really funny you'd tell them that. I can just imagine the look on the face of the person who called you. Sort of confused but alittle disgusted at the same time.

Sorry to hear that Avid. Life always seems to throw in those curve balls when you least expect them. Keep us posted on the progress, and I hope you a speedy recovery this time around as well.
  7. That video is a classic! I also seen it when it originally aired and I had to tape it to watch over and over. I don't think it lost any of the humor over time. "Are you OK little man?" lol---simply classic!
  8. Anyone? Yes, no, maybe? Anyone at all?
  9. It is said that the female bass grow the largest, but would it be safe to assume that that bass is a male because its tail is all chewed up?
  10. I got the Gander Mt suit that HPBB talked about. It was on clearance before and after Christmas and I got mine for only $90.00! Check it out, I have worn mine several times in the rain already and that thing keeps me dry as a bone.
  11. Im not trying to sound funny or like a jerk but I used to listen to them in high school, I think 10th grade. Since then the group just sounds bad.
  12. good, no that's one hell of an article Craig! Thanks alot for taking the time to post it.
  13. Thats one of the ways you know your really into bassin, when you start actually tasting your baits! By the way, anything that tastes like garlic is really tasty on a long tourney day with a saltine, and a little slice of senko. ;D
  14. Atleast someone is catching fish around here this time of year. Nice job!
  15. Looks like a great lure! Let us know how many pigs you slay on it!
  16. I voted "other" I like to throw cranks that are handcrafted like Whittler's cranks. Nothing beats throwing a one of a kind lure that was handcrafted. I've caught more fish consistantly with Whittler's cranks than any other companies lures. Not to mention he is one heck of a guy!
  17. Nice job! Odd how they will pass up several lures to take something else. Weird
  18. Sounds like it was worth braving the cold. Nice job!
  19. Welcome to the forum!
  20. I would go with the fireline also. Try the new crystal. Its nice, but the whole invisibility thing is crap. I just beleive that fish aren't line shy. I've been wanting to try that new crystal fireline. As far as your belief about fish not being line shy...I know a guy who catches trout on 12lb line. He outfishes most others when he fishes too.
  21. Why not atleast one of each size? I do not like the chatterbait whatsoever, but I can give you some advice. For deep water use the 1/2 ounce sice. For shallow water use the 1/4 ounce size. And for the water in between, use the 3/8 ounce size.
  22. I agree with Rolo on this one. I ain't touchin' that goopy stink plastic to catch some bass. I do just fine without it. And the smell of that stuff, makes me wanna vomit. Especially when it has been stewing in your tackle box all day in the hot sun and you open it to get another lure. It hits you in the face like a brick wall.
  23. My advice to you is to learn HOW to fish the lures you have. When you go fishing only take a certain type of lure such as crankbaits, or plastics, or spinnerbaits etc... Fish that lure until you have loads of confidence in it and then try another. You should be fishing the same lure all day and in different spots. And if you can, different conditions too. Have fun and tight lines!
  24. I agree with the majority. V.S. as it is listed is a great channel for fishing shows now. They also have shows with Hank Parker (which are the same as his show on Outdoor channel but with a different name), Fishing with Roland Martin, The Scott Martin Challenge, Fishing with Bill Dance, and probably a few more that I can't remember. I set the DVR to record all the shows, and it was almost filled in a week. Lots of great shows. But I think the Bass Pro show is the best.
