I tried this and it didn't work, but loosening the spool tension all the way did. I'm a Shimano newbie... are all Shimano's like this?

Been trying to close the sideplate for like 30 minutes now.. No matter how hard I push it won't close. Edit: I just figured out you have to loosen the tension all the way to close it... why is that?

I don't think about it too much. You need all of them to fish, so they're equally important to me.

I actually caught 3 dinks too, but didn't take any pictures of those. Starting to gain confidence in those jerkbaits.

I use 12 lb Big Game. 1000 yard spool for like 8 dollars.

Caught this thing with a Pointer 78. Rainy and cold day here in Indiana. What's funny is that I have fished here for so long and have never caught a crappie before.

I'll agree with this. Shorter rod makes it easier if you want to walk the frog but if you're just chugging it along the longer rod will work.

Welcome to the forums! To answer your question, me personally I would not get the Ghost because it has stainless steel guides (with chrome inserts). Just not my cup of tea. I haven't used one yet but the *** Black get's great feedback on here. I'll eventually get my hands on one some day..

I was bank fishing and saw some fry along the rocks in multiple places.... was wondering the same thing. Water was still super cold.

I wear one while bank fishing at a local park and I get tons of looks.

Nothing here in S Indiana. My friends literally walked up to the bank, threw out a 4 inch lizard soaked in spike it, and caught a dink. All on his first cast that was about 10 feet out. I'm going to try some rattle traps this weekend.. hope the water got a little warmer and the clarity better

You can do it either way. I just spray a couple times onto the spool. It helps a lot with memory.
