  1. welcome to the site! You have so many options out there, but it comes down to what is right for you. Lews, and Abu Garcia are great options and they aren't going to drain the wallet. Imo get something around 6:4.1 with a MH or H rod. And focus onto one maybe two techniques. Crank and jigging are some good starting points, but there are so many more. As others have said, check out the forums and search topics. There is a plethora of information on this site from some great anglers.
  2. If it's illegal it's wrong. But if there isn't a limit/regulations what are you going to do. Every person has their passion and for us it's fishing. We take catch and release serious to preserve our passion. Others may not feel the same about fishing. You can only hope to educate those who do not know and report illegal activity to preserve the sport.

Welcome from the metro area. Drop me a line if you ever need some north metro lakes.
  4. Oh is going to be a great coming week! LTB, TW order, and boat/fishing/truck accessories will all be here between next Monday-Friday.
  5. Don't completely rule out trucks. The Chevy Colorado sits lower to the ground than a regular truck would. Add running board and it should be easy to get in. Plus you can upgrade to the Z71 and tow more, add a trailer break control. You have lots of options.
  6. I stand by Abu Garcia. The vengeance rod is a great rod, and about $70. If you want a decent rod I have gotten the Abu Garcia vigilante rod from Wal-Mart for under $40.
  7. The Colorado's remind me of a crossover SUV for people who want a truck. It's the same size add a Equanox. But where it gets you is the accessories. LT, LTZ Z71, packages, and it goes on. A 36k truck can get up to 45 real quick.
  8. Yeah 2015 Silverado. The 5.3 v8 pulls around 10k pounds. I looked at the Colorado and the interior is small for the price you pay, a little more gets a lot more truck.
  9. Well it's not tackle, but it is fishing related. My car I traded in wouldn't pull more than my little boat. Now I can open up my boat search to a bigger boat!
  10. Okay. So I went back to it with my father in law. To answer a couple questions first. I did seafoam to the gas, and it is fresh gas for this year. I drained the bowl prior to posting. The problem has been fixed but there was more than one problem. First problem was the plugs where right but the gap was off... way off on one. Second problem was the fuel regulator. It is electric but there is a manual switch. This was off not allowing any fuel in. And lastly I crossed the plug wires.. (felt so stupid about this one) but it is up and running 100% now.. thanks for the suggestions!
  11. Hum I looked into this a little more, and it was suggested maybe the carb is gummed up.
  12. First I feel that I should warn you. I am not mechanically inclined.... at all.. so bare with me. I have a 1998 9.9 4 stroke Johnson kicker for my 14 aluminum boat. Last summer the engine ran perfectly. I pull once and it would fire right up. The summer at the beginning the season it ran great, again one pull start. As last month I started to have problems. I would throttle up and it start to kill. If I backed off it would be fine. But now I am getting nothing it won't start. I replaced the plugs, and it still seems as if it is flooded. I have compression add far as I can tell. Any suggestions. Oh I have checked the obvious. Safety kill switch, it's primed, fuel is getting from tank to engine
  13. Rounded back tail fins though point to it being pike.
  14. Juvi northern have a barred appearance when young. I caught one similar to this size. It was about 9 inches or so with the same markings.
  15. Wanna share what Maple Grove lakes? I usually only hit eagle.
  16. Golden Lake It started out real bad. I went to my favorite lake I tried to get my boat started, trolling motor craped out, and my battery never charged.. So we shore fished golden. Started out slow, so I went out to the pier and what a great decision. Was pulling out 1lber no problem. But then I casted and the end caught it and sent it into the Lilly's.. no prob, I have the line a tug and came right out, but I was floored with what happened next. As the lure (Lily and all) goes skipping across the water this lunker just blows up on it. It was a solid 5 lb if not closer to 6 and about 21.. 22 in.
  17. I just have always been told and taught walleye are always deep...
  18. Fathers day Water 72°+/- Temp 80° Clear lake (Forest Lake) The bite was good (for my brother in law..... not me) we found bass shallow in the weed pockets, but not quite under the docks. That was north end of the lake. The northern bite was bad, but I did pull in a small walleye in the shallows. Hot bait of the day way a rat l trap and rattlin rap in chrome.
  19. So I was out on the lake Fathers Day,and I was getting frustrated with the lack of bite. My brother in law and I moved to a shallow flat flanked by a nice weed bed. I thought bingo, perfect spot to start fishing for bass. But the bite I got wasn't from a bass. I pulled in a small 17 inch walleye. I was shocked because I found a walleye hole at about 22 ft on another part of the lake, and didn't know walleye went that shallow.
  20. Wow went back and looked at my current spending. I thought with the season starting "stocking up" would stop. But it is now termed "replacing". I lose a lure, so I buy 2 just in case. Or something breaking, in this case it was a rod so now I MUST replace that with something better. I said around $700, but after a new musky combo I almost added half of that.
  21. I know Thorne Bros. always carries the off stuff and if there not there Capras down the road is another great shop. They will actually order items in if you want. I was looking for some ZMan soft plastic and they didn't have it, so they ordered it. Also great place for firearms. I get deals there a lot when buying.
  22. Last day of my up north vacation. I have been killing it on a chatter. the docks have been a hot spot.
  23. Fifty lakes and lake Washburn. This lake was HOT for small mouths. I fished the docks and shallows. 1 & 2 lbers with water temps on the mid and upper 70's. I think I the back over 20 in the course of a coupe hours.
  24. Remove all hooks! Fish lives matter!
